Notable prospects overlooked or snubbed by Honour Janza for the 2015 AFCON qualifiers resume club duties this weekend hoping to make a statement.
On the homefront, utility winger Roderick Kabwe will take to the field on Sunday when Zanaco face Konkola Blades in a 2014 Barclays Cup quarterfinals.
Kabwe who is joint third on the FAZ Super Division scorers charts with nine goals was one of two axed shocks by Janza’s ahead of Zambia’s poor showing in their opening two Group F qualifiers.
The winger was dropped despite an impressive performance for Zambia in a 3-1 friendly home win over Sudan on August 31.
On the same date, striker Ronald Kampamba who was dropped twice in a space of five days by Janza prior to the Group F qualifiers kick off will be in action for Nkana when they face Power Dynamos in a Barclays Cup quarterfinals derby at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Kampamba is currently second on the top scorers charts with ten league goals, three behind Zesco United’s Jackson Mwanza.
The Nkana striker has another five goals in continental action bringing his tally to 15 goals this season.
Sunday’s Cup derby will also pit Kampamba with Power striker Alex Ngonga who has nine goals so far this season after rediscovering his form over the last 30 days with four goals.
Overseas, midfielder Lubambo Musonda and Evans Kangwa will also be hoping to strengthen their claim to make the trip to Niger on October 11.
Lubambo is expected to be in action today for Armenian league leaders Ulisses who host bottom placed Mika.
The ex-Power midfielder has walked straight into Ulisses starting XI playing four games and scoring one goal since moving there in August on a one year deal.
And in Israel, Hapoel Ra’anana kick-off their 2014/2015 league season today as Kangwa hopes for his third game with his new club after making his competitive debut in cup action last month.
