PF’s performance in 3 years can’t match RB’s 3 year tenure-MMD

The Opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy says the ruling Patriotic Front (PF)’s performance in their three years in office is dismal and can not be compared to former President Rupiah Banda and MMD’s last three years.

And the Forum for Democracy and Development has described the election of the PF as jumping from a frying pan and landing straight on to the fire as the nation was better of with the MMD than it is with the PF.

MMD National Secretary Muhabi Lungu has observed that the PF’s rule in the last three years has nothing to write home about as they have delivered almost nothing on the promises they made to the people during the campaigns in 2011.

Mr. Lungu said the PF should not be jumping on roof tops lying to the people that they have delivered on their promises when the actual truth is that non of their promises has been delivered and that most of the projects which they are pointing to as their projects are carry over projects left by the MMD.

He said in as much as it should not be taken away from the PF administration for continuing projects left by the former ruling party the PF should be honest enough to acknowledge that most of the infrastructure they are working on were left behind by their friends in the MMD.

He noted that people kicked the MMD out of office because the PF claimed that they could do things better than the MMD but that the complete opposite has happened as the country’s economic growth has stagnated, inflation has risen and the cost of living has gone up.

“If I can compare the economic growth in 2011 the last year of the MMD it was 7 percent and the PF have note reached that figure once in the last three years, if you look at inflation we left it 6.5 the rate of inflation now has hit 10percent and if you look at the foreign debt we left it at 1.2 billion dollars and now it is over 4 billion 3 years done the line while the domestic debt is equally large.

“If you look at the micro and macro economic indicators you will see that there is a huge discrepancy between the last days of the MMD in office and the PF’s three years.

“They are pointing to the roads that they have put infrastructure across the country but most of these roads are carry overs, we started them we planned them we even identified the mode of financing these projects we commend them for continuing with them but it cannot be a basis to be jumping on tables that the PF are delivering on their promises.

“We commend them for continuing the projects but we could have finished them two years ago,” Mr. Lungu said.

Meanwhile the FDD noted that the country was better off when the PF took over than it is now as the PF’s rule has been a disaster and nightmare for ordinary Zambians who voted for them in the hope of improving their lives only to find that they were duped with force promise.

FDD spokesperson Antonio Mwanza noted that all the things which PF campaigned have turned out to be one big lie concocted to win votes without any intentions of keeping any of them.

Below is a full statement issued by FFD spokesperson Antonio Mwanza.

Three years ago this country erupted into jubilation and ululation as Zambians from all walks of life celebrated the Patriotic Front’s electoral victory over the MMD with the hope of a better and dignified life.

Little did the raucous and jubilant crowds knew that they were jumping from a flying pan right into the fire.

The PF ran a persuasive campaign, sugar-coated with paradisical promises of Lower Prices, Lower Taxes, More Money In People’s Pockets, More Jobs, Respect For Human Rights and The Rule of Law, A New People Driven Constitution, Media Freedom, Re introduction of Windfall taxes, Better Schools, Better Hospitals, A thriving Agriculture Sector, A Poverty and Corruption-Free Society all within a mystic 90 Day Period.

Today, three years down the line all these promises have turned into lies. Instead of more jobs, the PF has imposed a Two-Year Employment Freeze.

Instead of more money in people’s pockets, the PF has imposed a Two-Year Wage Freeze. Instead of farmers receiving 15 bags of fertilizer as promised, they are receiving 2 bags in February. Instead of more health personnel in our clinics, the PF fired nurses without recourse not withstanding the fact that this country has a shortfall of over 20 000 health personnel.

Today, the price of fuel has doubled; the price of mealie meal has doubled, the cost of water, electricity, transport, school fees has doubled. The value of the Kwacha has tumbled. Today the lending and interest rates have doubled.

Today instead of running a lean and effective government, the PF is running a Family Forest with two or more Deputy Ministers in one Ministry doing nothing but duplicating each other’s jobs, enjoying hefty salaries and allowances while over 50% of our children are malnourished and hundreds of expecting mothers are giving birth on floor of our clinics and hospitals daily.

Today instead of re introducing the Windfall Tax and ensure that Zambia benefits from the mines, the PF Ministers are busy colliding and sharing contracts with the Chinese to the detriment of our people.

Today our country has been reduced to a Debt Country were loans which cannot be accounted for are contracted every month. Today the Media is barred even to cover the President live at Parliament and those who have asked for the Release of the Draft Constitution are told that they are YAPPING.

The PF will leave a legacy of a deceitful, arrogant, irresponsible, irresponsive, lying Government that used cheap lies and propaganda to assume power. In the PF they don’t believe in values, morals or integrity. Its all DONCHI KUBEBA! Its all about ukuyakana ifi puna! Its Bamba Zonke Wena with Mr Sata keeping the resources of the Road Development Agency at State House! The decent people of this great country will surely kick out the PF in 2016 and usher in a caring, humble, responsive and prudent government.

As for the PF, enjoy while it lasts but the day of reckoning is near!

  1. am not too sure about this statement. They say opinions are like ashole and evryone has one. PF has tremedously performed well in agriculture, road development & local governance. they are yet to deliver on the constitution. i will give them my vote in 2016. As for MMD they should just forget they are a bygone party.

    • The whole world now knows that Sata is too sick to attend UN meetings.

The fit as a fiddle man of action failed to address the UN and his slot was given to UK’s David Cameron.

What a waste of resources! That money spent for Sata ‘s trip to New York would have been better spent to pay farmers who are almost rioting against FRA and DCs.

I cant wait to hear Katema’s lies on Sata’s inability to address the UN.The truth will always shine like the bright sun, you can not hide it.

The real Sata died in June.

    • We call it freedom of speech. However, I thought Muhabi had been to school? You mean even educated people follow blidly?

All this tell us that the MMD has no slightest idea about what constitutes development. To them development means their party being in power.

The PF has done so much. all it requires is the MMD recognising this fact. And when the MMD come into power, they should continue building on what the PF is doing. If anything the PF has done in 3 years what Zambia should have done in 50 years. Their haters will say they have done nothing, but is that true?

  2. We won elections, we’re performing. Bitter pill to swallow I know, this man with bad Muhabits. PF is the only party in Zambia to ever care for the people and its massive foundation efforts in 3 years indeed cannot be compared to the destruction left by the thieving Rat Bandit (RB) and your lot. Forward with the nation under PF. Keep hating but we’re here to stay and you’re a goner, MMD. FDD, low IQ.

    • I have to agree. The only reason MMD ensured that mealie-meal, fuel, electricity and basic commodities were affordable while they commenced on road projects was because they hated the Zambian people! PF came in and to show how much they love Zambians, they removed subsidies causing the increase of fuel, mealie meal and other basic commodities, they demolished houses without warning, stomped on freedom of speech, introduced violence with pangas all for the love of Zambians. Chikwanda has already stated that sata is not interested in a 2nd term and we all know that PF = Sata no matter how many roads you build. No sata = No PF.

  3. To be honest what PF have done so far is a ‘performance’ not governance. Drama and imbecility through and through. Actually if you have an empty podium at the UN when your president is supposed to stand there it sums it all up.

    • Thank God, it was “an empty podium.” Else, it would have bee occupied by a ghost-looking HEMCS! None of us would have relished the ensuing negative publicity.

  4. Supposedly, people have now seen that all the promises the PF made were lies. So why is it that they are still voting PF in the by – elections? ? They try to talk intelligently with their eloquent Muhabi but results on the ground show they are indeed yappers, just like their tiny sister FDD who cant even manage 2 seats in parliament. Indeed the MMD are a fully dead issue. These high sounding stats being displayed before us as proof of failure are only good for intelligent (sic) people like them. The common person who votes knows what he is seeing and he ain’t saying PF are rubbish – he is still celebrating RB’S departure. We have our zamtel back, our finance bank back, our dignity back, and although prices have gone up, our wages have gone up even more! Go play with some toys, Mr Lungu.

    • Love that. Indeed. We are a developing nation. Why keep foreign reserves when people are still crying for infrastructure and many other needs?

It is like a village pastoralist farmer boasting that he has a huge head of cattle (in thousands) but fails to take his children to school and they live in a mud house.

These statistics of foreign reserves or import cover are not a good measure of prosperity for a poor nation. Better we spend money on things that help the people. We need roads, schools/universities, hospitals and many other things. As regards food, Zambians are not starving. So where is the alarm?

  5. May I borrow the words of Winter Kabimba ” the people that Voted for PF are Un Educated Zambians” the language Mr Lungu and Mr Mwanza are using can’t be apprehended by people kabimba described. Micro and macro economics Indicators, Inflation, GDP can the likes of what Winter Described find any sense in what you are talking about? Kwacha against the dollar. It dose not make any sense to them? The only language they understand is the Bufi language. In the world of PF cardres what Is seen to be lies In the real world to them is Gospel truth and what Real people see to true is Lies from hell pit.

    • Come on @Tribalist

The same critic can be made on opposition cadres. They have failed to tell people what they stand for, in order people make a change of support. They too have treated voters with the same cynicism. People in Zambia are much more intelligent than your abusive image of them implies. Even ordinary citizens in the West only listen to their politicians, when it hits their pockets. Most of the time they vote like their parents did or according to their ‘class’ aspirations.

Walk around the cities in UK, And ask people to name the most important parties in UK, they probably would get it wrong; barely knowing who the current Prime Minister is! Cut it out with this inferiority complex. We are doing alright for people out of an ‘interrupted’ development.

  6. I honestly don’t know what Muhabi Lungu is talking about. As far as I can remember when MMD was ruling mr lungu was busy scrapping off Old Kenny’s hard earned money without remorse. As for Mwanza who tells him people are sturving?

  7. mmd 20 years in power cannot be compared to pf 3 years of power.pf has done alot.on borrowing even if they borrowed 50 billion dollars as long as the country is being developed

  8. Wapya munzi alila Muhabi. The fact is PF has performed much better than the thieving mmd. And for your information, mmd will never bounce back to power. How can a party which was in power for 20yrs still be renting a secretariat honestly.

  9. Mr Lungu is just politicking here. Zambia with Sata in Good Health for the next 2 years. The country will really see massive capital projects. Today I can think of staying in Kalabo

  10. WHAT FDD HAS STATED ABOVE IS TRUE AND ALSO MDD DID THEIR PART. PF HAS CONTINUED WITH THE PROJECTS AND BROUGHT OUT THEIR OWN IDEAS WHICH IS EQUALLY GOOD. I THINK ZAMBIA WILL DEVELOP FASTER IF WE CONTINUE TO CHANGE PARTIES EVERY 10 YEARS BECOZ EACH PARTY WOULD WANT TO LEAVE A MARK. ON INFRASTRUTRE PF IS BETTER QUICKER THANK OTHERS BEFORE THEM. BUT PF NEED TO WORK ON THE DIRTY IN THE CITIES. MY HONEST ASSESSMENT.

  11. Sorry ba Lungu you got it terribly wrong. Even the stats don’t lie, the World bank maintains Zambia’s status as a lower middle income nation improved under the PF govt and only recently credit rating agency Fitch upgraded Zambia’s credit rating. What is delaying development in Zambia are the hundreds of corrupt civil servants inherited from MMD that are comprising the PF plans to improve lives of all Zambians.

  12. Only blind followers, gullible PF cadres, Tribal clique can dispute these facts .

But then for how long.?? PF is failed Muchinga project being imposed on the illiterate, impoverished majority voters who use their tummy instead of their heads.

At least,my conscious is clear that am not part of this Circus Family Forest Government.

MMD was a better government , 2016 my vote is on UPND.

  13. While micro economics are important you need to couple them with tangible things people can see and touch. This is where MMD failed. PF have scored in the short period they have been in power. Muhabi Is forgetting that MMD was in power for 20years and should therefore not compare 3years of PF rules to RB`s tenure only.

    • Try and remember that when MMD cam into power the economy was on its knees. There was no money fro development projects.Actually PF has enjoyed the fruit of MMD i wonder if that will be said if PF leaves office in 2016

    • If you say MMD twenty year rule, Sata was part of the 15 year MMD rule. So if you make comparisons on PF and MMD start talking about MMD rule after Sata had left. Like MMD five year rule to PF three year rule. I say so because Sata was part of the 15 year MMD failure if it failed. It will be unfare if you removed Sata from that rule because he held the most senior office even if he was not the president.

  14. These are just politics. That is why cadres fight because they don’t see the traps set by politicians using sweet words.

  15. Muhabi Lungu is right when he says that the infrastructure development the PF is undertaking were crafted by MMD. He is however not right when he says that the PF’s three year in office is dismal not comparable to RB’s three years. RB successfully abandoned the same projects reasons best known to him alone and PF picked them up and are receiving kudos for that even from Lungu himself

    • What matters is implementation. Remember MMD cancelled everything KK/UNIP had started. Who knows if RB had gone through he would have abandoned these projects. Example is the Kalengwa Road which was given to a bogus contractor who bolted after the MMD lost power

  16. It sounds as though the dude is trying to re-campaign for the Zinjanthropus, a retreaded UNIP zealot who, in three years at the helm, showed us his true colours – stealing and killing! RB was a disgrace – FULL STOP!

    • Why is Sata failing to perform his duties? Why did he go to Israel and not meet Peres? Why is it he’s never held a press conference. Why is he currently in the USA claiming he’s there to attend the UN and yet fail to address the gathering? Why did he fire Wynter? Why has his government failed to deliver a new people driven constitution as promised?

  17. Bloggers what did PF promise they will do? This is what you should judge them on- not just this chipante pante. They promised among others:
    1. Constitution in 90 days Done/Not yet ?
    2, Low taxes Done?Not done?
    3. More money in the pocket Done/Not done?
    4. Improved agriculture system Done/Not done?
    5. Bill of rights Done/Not done ?
    6. Better lives for all Zambians Done/Not Done?
    7. Low mealie Meal prices Done/Not yet Done?

These are some of their promises. Stop fishing for success. Go back to the checklist and score them accordingly

  18. There are some serious errors in some arguments put forward.
Stated: MMD planned all the current developments and PF are ‘only’ following through with the projects of Road development. Then the article goes on to say, these projects are being built on loans etc. when MMD vacated inflation was lower than it is now.

There seems to be a suggestion that MMD had left enough money in the kitbag for all the current developments PF are undertaking which we know is not true, since you make no query as to where the funds went. All gov’ts have to follow through development agreed in previous parliaments.

Inflation has therefore risen in an acceptable fashion, because of all the development projects ongoing.

    • In relation to cost of living, this should settle once the needed developments are completed. The gov’t should then realise taxation and new income as returns from the current developments, which will increase gov’t revenue which in turn should help in paying off the loans.
      @wawa
I’d vote PF, right now because:-
      1. Constitution in 90 days – clearly the contentious issues have proven difficult to resolve in 90 days, nothing untoward.
2, Low taxes Done? We are building infrastructure, low taxes will follow on completion of this period when we move into benefitting from developments
      3. More money in the pocket? Gov’t are creating more businesses among Youth and recently announced welfare packs for education. Women groups assisted. Money will trickle in once these are up and…

  19. @wawa continuing:

    4. Improved agriculture system? There are marked improvements. The problems are teething problems from a new system, to be expected.
    5. Bill of rights Done? As with constitution in 90 days, once agreed, should move forward. GOV’T will do well to act perfunctorily on this one. This is not impressive, concur with general criticism.
    6. Better lives for all Zambians? Gov’t working on an inclusive Zambia. Developing services and access in villages is a Giant step in the right direction. Yes, this is impressive. Kudos to the gov’t and they should ensure completion by 2016, as this will be a Judgement Call.
    7. Low mealie Meal prices? We have a bumper harvest. This should be no problem. If they cant’t sell it they should give it out as welfare to struggling…

    • @wawa
      7. Low mealie Meal prices? We have a bumper harvest. This should be no problem. If they cant’t sell it they should give it out as welfare to struggling families.

      Finally:
This was very well done. Muhabi is a superior intellect, unfortunately it’s politics! A good brain is wasted. All sort of skulduggery is unfortunately permissive.

The way to conclude on this is to say:
The critic is essentially an own goal. If you start by comparing, the 3 years MMD were in power to the 3 year PF have even are in power to date, then you will have defeated your own argument from the get go! MMD PLANNED, PF EXECUTED the plan. RESULT (PF WIN). Because all adults, a know big mouths with no action is not as good as a ‘chimbwe no plan’ THAT ACTUALLY carries out the plan!

    • CHIMBWE NO PLAN? NOT SO.

This criticism by UPND and MMD cadres has finally been disproved. Muhabi has told the nation, MMD made the plan. AND has confirmed PF are carrying out the plan made by MMD in keeping with keeping within rules made by the previous MMD Administration.

SO A BIG PLEASE, stop calling President Sata, Chimbwe No Plan. ‘Cause he’s got a plan alright and is carrying it out!!

  20. If I recall very well, the only development I saw under MMD was in the year of the 2011 elections. Change in Government was needed.
