MMD President Nevers Mumba says his party will not die like UNIP because it stands for timeless values.
Dr Mumba said the MMD will always be relevant as long as Zambia remains a democratic state,
He said the MMD has a timeless shelf life because of the values on which it was founded.
Dr Mumba was speaking on ZNBC TV when he featured on Sunday Interview programme.
“MMD has values that are timeless. MMD needs to stay in order to sustain democracy since PF does not have both internal and external democracies. MMD represents values that are timeless, it’s a timeless party,” Dr Mumba stated.
He added, “The MMD is relevant today because people need their God given freedom to express themselves and to be able to participate in the economy of the country. Innovation comes from freedom, everybody wants freedom and the MMD guarantees that.”
Dr Mumba said the MMD has fought a resilient fight to protect democracy since losing power in 2011 adding that where the party is going is much better.
He also announced that the MMD has commenced the process of reorganizing all its structure countrywide in readiness for the 2016 convention.
And Dr Mumba has reiterated that reports that former President Rupiah Banda is considering a political comeback are mere rumours.
He said he is not losing any sleep on such reports because Mr Banda himself has never shared those sentiments with him.
“I speak to President Banda and he has never hinted to me that he wants to come back and I don’t think it will be fair for me to start commenting on something that he has never shared with me personally,” Dr Mumba said.
He also warned officials that want to bring confusion in his relationship with Mr Banda.
“Let me warn those that want to bring a rift between me and President Banda that they will not succeed. They are in the habit of coming to me and telling that this is what President Banda is saying about you and then they also go to President Banda and tell him that this is what Nevers is saying about.”
The MMD is a creation of two people, Aka Lewanika and Derrick Chitala. The two gentlemen both left the MMD and clearly stated that the ideals/values for which the MMD was founded had died. So I wonder what Mumba is talking about the MMD having a timeless shelf life because of the values on which it was founded! Mumba has zero ability just like Sata and there is only one place he is taking the MMD, doom!
I`m with you on that one pastor. That`s what happens when a clock stops working it stops at one position but continue showing the right time at least two times in a day hence becoming timeless in essence.
People die ideas and values live. Bring an alternative set of values to the principles on which an organisation was founded then Bingo. That’s what happened in 1991.
Just wasting time and energy, MMD is finished period!
I personally love and respect Dr. Nevers S Mumba as a person based on our common belief systems but I have serious problems with the MMD.
Having said that, please leave my, our UNIP out of all your MMD squabbles, don’t even make mention of it in your inferences unless of course you are differentiating your policy to governance in contrast to the former.
That you have every right to do just like any other individual in the free political world. UNIP has not died 23 years having left office and we still have structures for a strong re-luanch including subsequently getting back in office.
The smart people of the Zambian Enterprise will never allow a two-party system so be ready to play well with others on the pitch, the world is a funny place but life is a serious enterprise.
Go back to your party.

MMD will bounce back to power that I know. I like Nevers, he is always positive even when things are really bad. Good to have one believer than a multitude of non-believers.

MMD brought us multipartyism,bumper harvests,record forex reserves,yrs of 6% + economic growth and record foreign investments.Plus Zed was never a laughing stock of the world like today.Yes MMD is both timeless and deft in management.
Correct but whatever good they did to the nation was cancelled out by their wanton plunder, arrogance, stalled development and corruption. They would do all of us proud Zambians a favour if they folded their political tent and just varnish. They are not wanted anymore, the same way people are fed up with PF.

MMD is not dead it only needs leadership that can mobilize resources and attract members to join the Party NEVERS MUMBA has failed on this one. The best for NEVERS MUMBA is to give chance to RB to revival the Party financially because he so broke to be a President of any serious party, politics is very expensive game it is not for people like NEVERS who depend on charity money. We are calling upon MMD NEC Members convene a NEC Meeting to resolve and call for extra ordinary convention next year 2015 April not what NEVERS is saying 2016, how can he contradict himself by saying some NEC Members are tired but he wants to keep them up to 2016 this does not make any sense the best thing is to call for extra – ordinary convention to vote for new leaders. not NEVERS to hire and fire
Those who think that MMD will never come back will be shocked. Its the only party that has demonstrated democratic principles and stands a chance of ruling after PF.
