Dutchman Labohm hired to help Janza

Share

Dutchman Nico Labohm has been hired to help under-fire Zambia coach Honour Janza.

Labohm arrived in Zambia on Tuesday morning and was unveiled at a press briefing at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka just before afternoon team training by FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya.

Kalusha said Labohm will work under Janza as his assistant.

“We have added one more coach to the technical group Mr Nico Labohm from Holland he is a very experienced instructor and coach,” Kalusha said.

“He has been to Hong Kong, Suriname, Ukraine, South Africa and Tunisia.

“He has been here in Zambia before and it was important for us find somebody who knows a little about the terrain and the situation that we are in.

“We are in a privileged position as Zambia in my opinion because of the name that we have. Mr Nico Labohm thought duty-bound to come at short notice to help the team and he will come to add and subtract and do everything possible that he knows for the betterment of the team.”

Labohm’s deal is short term and will expire at the end of the 2015 Africa Cup Group F qualifiers on November 19 when Zambia play their final game against Cape Verde at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

  1. Hmmm I am a bit suspicious about this Nico’s CV. He has been to Hong Kong, Suriname, Ukraine, South Africa and Tunisia. Under what capacity? As a head coach or a tourist? I have also been to Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Congo, Germany, England, Italy, USA, Mexico so please hire me.

    • Eacty my thought In zambia you hire no adverts about such big discisions, only when they fire him and they cant pay his allowernces

  2. @Twende
Kalu always gets a commission from the person he hires. Do you guys think Janza is getting his full salary as a coach?

  3. That is why we shall never move as country because of pet jealous . you are the enemy of the country if you want to shout down every thing that Kalusha wants to do . some of you who are passing this comments have never played foot ball before and you want to show innocence when you have come from stealing . you have lived your life through corning . Let us try to support each other in order to bring foot ball development in Zambia . Mind you Football is a religion . Jealous wont take us an where . If you want let Kalu finish his term then come and contest if you are affiliated to Faz . God is watching . Any some of you you are being used by the interested parties

    • Bwana all we want is transparency! Don’t forget FAZ is funded using tax payers money. I have played football and I for the love of x can’t stomach the way football in Zambia is being run.

    • I have never played football as a job because I was a university material unlike you who used to sit in Group 3. Actually most footballers in my time where in group 3.

Ask Kalu which group was he in

    • @Olemekeza. I have a PhD in Human Computer Interaction and work for a FTSE 100 company. I gues like Dr Joseph ‘Zenga’ Kabungo, who was the goal keeper for UNZA Bola, we haven’t done bad for ourselves despite being in group 3.

  4. This is a polite way of sidelining Janza or simply passing a vote of no confidence. Badala, better to step aside before they fire you.

  5. Hang on. I didn’t read anywhere that FAZ were recruiting. How did this happen? We need chaps with proper CV’s and this chap doesn’t tick all the boxes for me. This under the table dealing at FAZ has to end now!

  6. We are making football what it is not – baba it is just a round hide which 11 players kick. Ucar Chitalu and Alex Chola were local coaches but to this day I believe they assembled a team which was unbeatable. What we do not have at the present moment are players hungry for the ball. Do you recall when we had Derby-Charlie boy-Kalusha? When the professionals arrived it truly meant something unlike the present bench warmers we have. Like it or not we have to wait for another goal getter to be born. Hiring of professional coaches after how many years of independence? How does Ghana and Nigeria do it with local coaches. Zambians we just have a complex ati anything foreign is better. Bring me the Ucar/Chola combination any time of day and I will embrace it. May their soul rest in peace

  7. Its not the best CV that matters but perfomance. Did Harve Renard had anything to talk about? I have seen people with better CV’s but fail to perform their duties.

  8. @Sabinah
We all support FAZ and Zambian football especially me because I don’t watch the whole Euro/English Soccer BS. Anyway, did you ever see an advertisement that FAZ was looking for a Helper? How was recruitment done? Who decided? Who were the candidates? Why did they settle for this guy? Is there a connection the fact that Kalu spent a lot of time with the Dutch boys?

  9. To introduce myself: I’m Nico Labohm, a Dutch football coach who works for the Royal Netherlands Football Association, the KNVB. In October last year I visited India for the first time. Ozone Group (mr. Vasudevan) approached the KNVB in 2011 to see if it was possible to set up a cooperation with the Dutch Football Association for a unique Academy and to send Dutch coaches to scout and to develop talented young players. About 3,000 youth football players came for trials over the last 12 months. Now one year later there are only around 40 players selected, all

  10. This is just a recipe for disaster Janza was a mere deputy to the assistant to the PE teacher Patrice… you honestly think this dutch man would want to sit by and watch Janza’s shambolic management. This man specializes in developing youth from academies and we see the flaws in the team from the onset an.
Here is another foreigner with zero top level experience like HR and Patrice whom your Galu is allowing to build a CV within 2 months this man will be national coach and in 12 months will be taking the national team to afcon qualifiers and world cup qualifiers make a name for himself and heading back for far bigger offers…I’m sure that is how Galu sold him this deal.
FAZ and Galu will always do things on the cheap and cream out the change….you will never go anywhere…wake up…

  11. Let us not cast aspersions at this move by FAZ. The two games we have played so far in the competitions clearly tells us that we need someone to assist Janza technically. I would have loved Wedson Nyirenda to be part of the technical bench but for now I will respect the decision of FAZ. We cannot start criticizing Nico Labohm even before we see what he can offer.

  12. Another one who wants to use Zambia as a launch pad for recognition in international football. Just humble yourselves bring back Bonetti ba FAZ

  13. Do Zambia Senior Team needs the Under 12 youth league mentor to develop the skills, I feel this is a total downgrade move and it demands serious investigation in the appointing authority. please read here more about our new assistant coach

  14. Young talented Zambian in the making Janza have a look at this attacking midfielder before he becomes a Canadian ********* we simply calling him ‘MO’ when I watched him play he reminds me of Jericho Shinde….he is only 21 and his is Mwiza

  15. Things went weired when Janza filled a different team against Mozambique.Had he continued with the same boys who played with a fighting spirit of hunger for scoring goals when they had to beat Sudan 3-1.We could be having six points by now.Alas as usual after seeing the spectacular display of football by the young lads..The technical bench went back to recall old guards with tired legs in the name of professionals.Thats were you missed it comrade Jnza. And I hope this time around your travel arrangements to Niger are well ahead of time.
