Chinsali District Commissioner, Evelyn Kangwa, has directed the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) in the district to pay farmers their dues for the crop marketing season that officially closed yesterday.
Ms Kangwa said she is very disappointed that the FRA has not started paying the farmers in Muchinga Province despite the monies being available in the banks.
She said it will be logical that farmers are paid as they celebrate Zambia`s Golden Jubilee of 50 years of independence.
The DC said this in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Chinsali today.
Ms Kangwa said the FRA must always ensure that they prepare names in advance in readiness for payments even before the money is ready.
She also said that with the powers invested in her she has further directed FRA to shift its Provincial offices from Isoka District to Chinsali, the Provincial centre.
Efforts to get a comment from FRA Provincial Marketing Officer, Musiwa Mukololo, failed by press time as his phone went unanswered.
Ba FRA bafuna kuchaya ntolele fye?
I thought those in muchinga were paid according to one PF minion here on LT.
This is a result of have a government that does not know the importance of farming. LPM was a farmer and these problems were not there. Farmers were paid on time and seeds were distributed in time. Its really sad.
imwe bantu how far true is it that fra has reduced the actual prize of maize by taking out k8.00 leaving the actual amount to the farmer as 62.-00 is that not unfair.
Very true my bro. Farmers are being charged tax as well.
This cant be true because invoices issued were showing K70 as actual price. If this is done then it will be a criminal offence.
FRA has not paid farmers all over the country, why is chinsali so special?
