Former Finance Minister Ng’andu Magande says he hopes the 2015 national budget to be presented to Parliament this Friday will be a balanced one especially in view of revelations that government has no money to complete the Link Zambia-8000 road project.

Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda has been recently quoted in the media as saying the Link Zambia 8,000 Road project is an ambitious undertaking which could not be achieved in 20 years.

Speaking to Qfm news in an interview, Mr. Magande has wondered how government will be able to pay international contractors working on the project when it is indicating that there could be no money to complete the road project.

He says this is why he is hoping that government will present a balanced national budget in which revenues will equal expenditures.

Mr. Magande, who is also opposition National Movement for Progress president says this, is the only way government will be able to accommodate its loft ideas.

He notes that there is also need for government to start funding priority projects from which Zambians will be able to earn their own incomes.

  1. Wishful thinking. When has Zambia ever balanced it’s budget bwana former Minister of finance? You had a chance to look at the books. It won’t happen in my generation. Stop chatting nonsense.

  2. Thank you Magande for reminding PF of the economic MESS ahead.
At least, during your time Zambia witnessed steady economic recovery & stability.
