Political Scientist, Alex Ng’oma, has challenged former Republican President Rupiah Banda to state clearly why he wants to make a political comeback.
Dr. Ng’oma has told QFM News in a telephone interview that it is worrying that Mr. Banda is busy allegedly campaigning for his political comeback and not telling the people what he intends to achieve after coming back into politics.
He states that it is important that Mr. Banda tells the nation what he intends to do which he never did in his three years as President.
Dr Ng’oma says though it is his democratic right to contest for the presidency, it is only logical that Mr. Banda leaves room for other people to try and build on where he left.
He adds that Zambia is not in short of leaders who can contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.
Dr Ng’oma says Mr. Banda should clearly give reasons why the people of Zambia should give him another chance when he already had his time to serve as a President.
And Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) President Andrew Nthewewe says it will not make sense for the former president to come back into active politics.
Mr Nthewewe says the former President has already contributed enough to Zambian politics.
Mr. Nthewewe says there is need for the older generation of leaders to give the young people chance to showcase their leadership skills.
Let RB come back if wants. He has the right just like any Zambians. He should not give any reason for coming back for he has a right to contest any elections.
I hope he knows that GRZ will with draw all his benefits as a former president. Its his right to decide. Amen.
Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.
Which institution conferred a Doctorate in political science to this Ngoma if he cant even comprehend the simple legal premise. RB, like any citizen, is consitutionally entitled to ran for the Presidency. Therefore, he does not need to state what he wants to come and do. That shall be for the campaigns. In addition this Ng’oma had any understanding of politics, he would know that there is a reason for having a 5year term in administration and that RB only had three. Political science suggests that a 5year term is about enough time for political programmes to show fruits. similarly any business will need a 3year business plan. I’m left to conclude that this Dr is job hunting, or paid for his doctorate at Conerstone University. RB has much to offer than any current political leader
Dr Banda please stay away from partisan politics. We need you as an advisor to the nation. What do you want to come and fufil first of all.
You claimed to have been one of those leaders who should be respected for handing over power peacefully, follow Mandela’s example
Good advice. This guy will just loose respect which
he is be accorded. His friends and wife should advise.
Thanks
He has tasted blood before. What do you expect?
Like an opportunist vulture, or a hyena who has smelt blood
Ah ha! Never is sooooooooooooooooo nervous as he is in the hole of black mamba’s stead. Let mmd fight fight each other!
Let him come back. We will meet him in the Political Arena. But before he comes back let him tell us why Henry Banda ran away immediately after the elections and has never set foot in Zambia since then. What does he fear?
Henry Banda as an adult is leading his own life and that of his children.Why should RB be continuously looking over the shoulders of his grown up children?RB is also a child of his parents and why have you not appealed to his parents.
RB has another term of contesting as a Presidential candidate if he wants.If he fails,his pecks as former President will be restored.
He wants to come back so that he can fulfill the following amongst others:
Bring Henry back;
Dress some more trees with campaign material;
Globetrot to those countries he missed;
Attend the World and Africa Cup finals; and,
make the MMD even more unpopular.
Its his right so let him exercise it.
Shameless Crook!
he said himself and I quote, “nanga nine mwana wa nyina wao?” so all those saying he shouldn’t come back, nanga ni mwana wanyina wanu?
He is welcome to the political arena. This way our country will be saving the money he is being paid for doing nothing. Also this will prove to him how rough it is to be in opposition and running for the top job. This will allow MMD cadres a chance to chew his cash.
Hah! don’t you know why he would want a come back( not that he would win)? It’s the glasses of wine, odzamwina, and of course, that axe against Membe at the Post!
Sooner we going to hear that KK wants to come back also.What a crazy nation !
If RB is a man enough let him form his own party, by which it shall be proved that people want him back in politicks , for it is known that mmd already has its own president ba Banda try to use that money you have form a party
PITICOT Govt. if you have not heard, the ‘people’ that RB is talking about as wanting him back, have also been visiting KK telling that “PEOPLE ARE CRYING FOR YOU AND WANT INDECO AND ZAMBIA AIRWAYS BACK” If he was to be interviewd whether he wants to come back, you will be shocked. He has already been sending people out to ‘test the waters’ the way RB is doing.
For RB, its disappointing that what chased him from UNIP is what he is doing to MMD. Those who still remember, RB ‘retired’ from active politics precisely because KK wanted a comeback and did a ‘coup’ against Kebby Musokotwane. Up to now the record is not clear on how Wezi Kaunda died. Many still say it was an inside UNIP job.
Ndine Bwezani.Wunileshe
kuwela newo mwana wa anyoko?
This man should keep away from zambian politics. He is not worth the time, he is not worthy of any position in government, period. He is a complete failure and should retire to his farm and look after his twin grandchildren, oh sorry, his young twin sons. The money had no respect for the institution of a corrupt free society, how does he explain the lavish campaigning that made him lose the elections. Never in the history of Zambian elections, has an incumbent president wasted so much money on an election, to a point of dressing dogs and trees with elections cloth material, not to mention the bicycle saga, the vehicle saga. We know where the money came from, but that does not make it right, it was purely and utterly corrupt. Nyama soya should never be allowed back!
Mr. Ng’ona a ballot paper thief should just shut up he is a well know PF cadre who stole a ballot paper in SA in 2011 when they went to verify ballot papers for 2011 elections, this chap was part of PF rigging team in 2011. RB just served as President for three years instead of 10 years two terms, so does RB need permition from this ballot thief to come back into active politics? For TAWEWE is a disgraced Youth leader who is been compromised by PF on Constitution making process which sane Zambian can listen from this crook. RB’S coming back is giving most of political criminals sleepless nights because they fear of the dirty things they did in 2011 elections for PF to win. These chaps did a lot of dirty things in the name of NGO while they were PF cadres and now they have been…
Nanga nine mwana wa noko? siuziba ati yaninyokola njala. Zonse ndalama ninaba mu government zasililatu so nifunobelelapo zinangu ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RB
TRUE BLUE AND MMD DIE HARD, WE APPRECIATE THE PASSION WITH WHICH YOU ARE DESPERATELY TRYING TO SELL THE IDEA OF RB TO COME BACK.. SURELY THIS MAN WAS IN POLITICS IN UNIP AT INDEPENDENCE ON 24TH OCTOBER 1964 AND WAS ONE OF THE FEW FIRST AMBASSADORS TO THE USA.
50 YEARS LATER, YOU STILL WANT HIM TO FEATURE IN ELECTIONS THAT WILL TAKE PLACE IN 2016???? NO, NO, A BIG NO!!! RB WAS A BRIDGE PRESIDENT TO CARRY THE COUNTRY FROM A PRESIDENTIAL FUNERAL THEN HAND OVER.
IMAGINE THE UNPRECEDENTED WASTAGE F RESOURCES THAT THIS COUNTRY WITNESSED IN 2O11. RB WAS DRUNK WITH MONEY AND BOUGHT ALL SORTS OF CAMPAIGN MATERIALS INCLUDING “MMD BRANDED LOLLIPOP SWEETS!!!!”
HE DESTROYED MMD AND THAT IS WHY YOUNG NEVERS MUMBA HAS HAD SUCH A DIFFICULT TIME TO SELL MMD AGAIN. PLEASE LET RB REST.
