Opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has revealed that his party will kick of campaigns for the presidential by election today, Wednesday, November 12 2014.
Mr Hichilema said the UPND is in a hurry to convince Zambians that it has the best policies to take the nation forward.
He said the UPND does not have time to waste and will start going round the country to sell its manifesto.
“Our message is clear, Zambia deserves quality leadership and that is what we are putting on the table. Our job is to go out and convince the Zambians. We don’t have a lot of time and we are starting now to talk to the people,” Mr Hichilema said.
He said the UPND is now focusing on mobilizing the support from Zambians in all regions ahead of the by election.
Mr Hichilema said the UPND is ready to form the next government.
“We have to move on as a nation. Late President Sata did his best and we have to carry on and move this country forward,” he said.
Mr Hichilema said the UPND’s main occupation when in government is to deliver a people driven constitution.
“Now that the draft is out, passing this constitution should not be a problem. Zambia would have avoided this costly presidential by election if late President Sata and the PF had passed a new constitution which could have given us a running mate,” he said.
If u can do what Sata did but without overburdening us with your relatives and tribesmen, then u have my vote.

You do realize that the smartest thing Mwanawasa did was to appoint a smart and capable finance minister (irrespective of tribe) and that was when the financial situation in Zambia began to turn around. But you all are too tribal to admit that, that is when things began to change for the better. Zambia will only see improvement if we put the best and brightest in position of power irrespective of their tribal affiliation. So my prediction is, if Zambian refuse to look beyond their tribalism then this country will be doomed to be ruled by oaf, thieves and buffoons forever.
The A-TEAM that could carry Zambia and its people to the next level would have to cross tribal lines (as Mwanawasa did) and only then will Zambia realize her true potential.

There are a few things I do not want to see in this election. Focus on tribal politics. My home is split into five parts. My wife is Mbunda whilst am from East. Our son is married to a Tonga young lady whilt our daughter is married to a Bemba. We have these hybrids our children and grand children who make the fifth part. What is more confusing is that our grand children seem to only been taught English by our children perhaps as a compromise.
So I wont give a vote to anyone who will campaign on tribal lines and hope many Zambians can join this cause to punish tribalists whether they are Tonga, Lozi, Ngoni or Bemba. A tribalishit is simply worth rejecting.

No matter how much you are going to hurt the young man, he will give you a good run. He is the best option we have. Those who vote using their brains are likely to vote for him. But people who vote using their tribe and those whose votes are based on their stomachs may not vote for him. This is the man of the moment. Let us do away with the clueless Panga Fighters (PF). We need a serious government to take Zambia forward. Abash tribalism, nepotism, corruption (RDA), confusion, violence and all ills perpetrated by the PF government. Zambia deserves better leadership. Subsidies dude. The way to a voter’s heart is through the stomach and all HH has to do is promise the people that subsidies will come back and mealie meal will be affordable again. People, especially the poor who do not drive and now cannot afford mealie-meal and make up the majority of the voters do not give a sh!t about the roads. They want affordable food, which makes me wonder what campaign lies PF will spout this time around.
HH can win this election. He has no competition in Lungu, GBM or Kabimba. These trio is exactly what Zambians don’t want. Lungu has a history of professional misconduct and given to excessive drinking, if given power what would stop him from emptying state coffers? GBM is a violent thug with a hot temper that he unleashes on his wife and employees, scarcely a person to entrust with state power. Kabimba is too cold-blooded and projects an almost inhuman image, if allowed power he would instantly plunge the nation in a civil war. To all would be contenders for the presidential by elections listen to this. The local government service commissioners are very corrupt led by commissioner Sipokolwe. Councils have been making recommendations for promotions and confirmations. Instead the commissioners found an opportunity to employ relatives and friends corruptly at the expense of long service employees. Some councils have two people on one position. We have evidence of these allegations. We challenge candidates to commit themselves to the challenges of local councils that have been brought about by the corrupt commissioners.
You may write day in and night but if you are not on the ground to support your preferred candidate forget it. Whilst you are making your analysis on this forum, We at home are weighing options based on what has been achieved and way forward. We dont want confusion.

For you to be effective in your argument against HH you need to name your presidential candidate in these presidential by elections you caused (since your PF party is an expert in causing by elections). I have been following political commentaries in our great nation Zambia for long now and thing I have observed is that tribal politics are really there. Sadly to mention that these tribal politics are perpetuated by those who claim are ant-tribal. Some regions feel are the only king makers, they are superior and they are gods. They have for now managed to make others feel inferior and make brothers and sisters fight against each other. They are not just in political cycles but I also see them in work places. they are good at consolidating their cliques and push their way up by making others think they are the only one created to govern. And when these issues are brought out, they are quick to say they are not tribal but others. This is not fair, it is not Godly.
Based on all the insults Sata received here, and the Zambian watchdog, I would really think 20 times before voting. Lesson: agree to disagree without insults and tribal talk. I believe a lot of harm has been made; convincing people to believe otherwise would be hard. But good luck; am not voting, so just as well my opinion does not matter.

We want you to explain your economic policies and strategies to the average voter… how your govt will create an enabling environment for creating jobs? What your stance is on the mining tax? How you will ensure there’s is no corruption and there’s real separation of power amongst the 3 arms of govt (in reality and not hiding in the constitution)? The efficient medical delivery system? The education? The debt? And above all how you will move this country from it’s squalor.
And speaking of PF and the so called ‘roads’ that I’m hearing about… well maybe in Muchinga. But I was in Mongu last year and what I saw is a bunch of Chinese dudes with few indigenous digging trenches on old existing roads, blocking roads resulting in traffic chaos. These dudes wouldn’t finish one road before moving the next. At one stage they had cut a water pipe to suburb for 3 months creating water shortages and they wouldn’t give a damn. I approached one guy who couldn’t speak English and speaking through an interpreter, I asked “why dig, dig, everywhere, no finish”. The dude replied “Zambia government, no money”.
If this is the said infrastructure road development, then it is non-existent. Sata and his PF just stole money through that road urgency.
It has been long coming. HH for president. It’s long over-due.

I am yet to read a strong argument against HH’s abilities, most of it is mediocre reasoning. The man is educated, humble, successful, what more do you need. Its an insult even to put him in the same sentence with drunkards like Edgar Lungu.
Why is UPND not going to convention to elect its Presidential candidate. Even Mugabe goes for convention. bloody dictators.
UPND has a candidate, remember pathetic failures under Sata never went for conventions. HH is an electable candidate, no need for another one. HH for president. Let PF fight, hope no blood.

God loves Zambia and its citizenry. Another opportunity is given to you to mend the Roth in our country by voting in a new crop of leadership which will serve everybody with all honesty, truth,dignity and integrity. UPND Party has a crop of new leadership that are full of reason and who are united while embracing one another from all tribes of Zambia. It will indeed be very easy for UPND to unite the nation because every tribe is represented in UPND. HH should be given chance to run the affairs of the nation. Non from PF ever told you the truth, especially on Sata’s health then, none, not even Edgar Lungu. Can you then trust such people to manage the lives of over 13million people? Seriously, I haven’t heard any sensible Zambian talk about UPND and HH, let alone any opposition. Zambians want development, tangible and felt by the ordinary Zambians and NOT a funny constitution. What good is another document when roads, hospital, schools, colleges and Universities are what will bring a smile on that poor child?
Indeed PF deserves another two decades in power and we shall ensure it does.
