The Central Committee, which sat today at Government Complex, has adopted PF Secretary General, Edgar Lungu as Party President and Presidential Candidate.

The meeting also received a petition of support from 63 PF Members of Parliament that demanded that the Central Committee adopts Mr. Lungu as Presidential Candidate.

Kafue Member of Parliament, Hon. Obvious Mwaliteta who was accompanied by other Members of Parliament, presented the meeting.

In the petition Mr. Mwaliteta stated that: “Members of Parliament representing their constituencies from all the ten provinces have recognized that Hon. Edgar Lungu will win the presidential seat with fewer difficulties”.

The Central Committee formed a quorum as provided for Article 51 (2), which states that the quorum is constituted by half of its membership.

The Central Committee considered the petition of support from the 63 Members of Parliament and resolved that it was in the best interest that both the position of President of the Party and Presidential Candidate were harmonized.

The Central Committee which was chaired by PF National Chairperson Hon. Inonge Wina MP and was attended by Dorothy Kazunga MP, Hon. Esther M. Banda (Chairperson of Women’s League), Hon. Alfredah Kansembe, Hon Garry Chanda, Hon Yamfwa Mukanga, Dr. J. T. Ngwasa Phiri, Dr. Joseph Katema, Hon. Given Lubinda, Mr. Willie Nsanda, Hon Jean Kapata, and Mr. Samuel Mukupa.

[pullquote] “We have decided and take this message to Dr Guy Scott that this is our candidate. President Sata loved me but he did not love me deep enough to leave me with the instruments of power,” Mr Munkombwe said.[/pullquote]

Others are Mr. Emmanuel Mpakanta, Mr. Sylvester Mtonga, Mr. John Chisanga, Mr. Peter Kajimanga, Mr. Robert Mwale, Mr. Mwenye Musenge, Hon Freedom Sikazwe and Elizabeth Phiri.

Others are Mr. Benson Chali, Mr. Steady Mwale, Hon. Susan Kawandami, Attan Mwamba, Hon. Mwanasa Kapeya and Fabian Chiposo.

The Meeting also resolved that a committee amongst themselves should approach Acting President, Dr. Guy Scott to inform him of the decisions and resolutions of Central Committee and the decision of the Members of the Parliament.

The motion to adopt Hon Lungu as Presidential candidate and Party President was raised Esther Banda and seconded by Hon. Jean Kapata and Mr Davis Chama.

The Central Committee adopted the decision.

In a vote of thanks Hon. Daniel Munkombwe urged the members to unite around the party candidate. “We have decided and take this message to Dr Guy Scott that this is our candidate. President Sata loved me but he did not love me deep enough to leave me with the instruments of power,” Mr Munkombwe said.

An earlier request that a meeting be a consultative was rejected and the meeting resolved and voted that it be a convened as a Central Committee Meeting as formal Notices were properly issued.

Following the concerns raised by Hon. Chishimba Kambwili, the meeting expressed concern that Dr. Guy Scott was ruling by decree and with regard to the party constitution.

The Central Committee resolved that Hon. Edgar Lungu be elected as Party President and Presidential Candidate.

And concerns that were raised that the Secretary General, Edgar Lungu and Dr. Guy Scott ought to work together was welcomed on the understanding that the interest of the PF party were important and it was the duty of all members to honour the memories of founder and late President Mr. Michael Sata by working together to ensure that the party won and retained power in the forthcoming by-election.

The Central Committee also stated that Dr. Scott should revert and remain in his substantive position as Vice President of the Party.

    • Well done Edgar Lungu! Eish, how easy it is to be president in Zambia! So the Zambian voters will vote for him in the January election. He doesn’t need experience like the loathed Micheal Sata.

    • I think Edgar Lungu is a brilliant choice. If only Zambia had a well organized opposition. How I wish Hon Mazoka was still alive. HH and Nevers are just plain useless.

    • The Rise & Fall of Guy Scott also leads to the Rise & Fall of the PF! Edgar is now the next President of the Smart People of the Zambian Enterprise but the real election comes a year after his inauguration, the tripartite general election of 2016.

By then we should have the right constitution in place and for the first time in revisionist history the smart people of the Zambian Enterprise will be electing quality leadership based on meritocracy.

Currently the opposition have a slim chance and may the best man win, democracy is a messy enterprise but it is the closest thing we have as a reflection of self-rule.

I said it before and I will say it again, this is Lungu’s election to lose. For now, withdraw the flawed petition and start focusing on your campaign … Your time…

    • Dramma at its bes these guys are fooling themselves! Have YOU wondered why big shots LIKE GBM, MILES SAMPA,NGOSA SIMBYAKULA,SIAMENDA ETC DIDN’T ATTEND? WATCH THE DRAMA UNFOLD, FIRST SCOT WONT ALLOW THEM TO USE GRZ RESOURCES AND VEHICLES…LOL

    • I think the Acting President’s position has been completely weakened. I think a racist card has been played on Guy Scott and has found himself in a den of lions. I hope he has recovered his money that he invested in PF when they were in opposition. This is the saddest day for democracy. What does this mean? Guy Scott’s position is now unattainable and there for I can see that the only noble thing he can do is resign his position and throw the party into more controversy. Guy and EL can never work together ever again! In the rarest of chances that the crazy people of Zambia vote for Lungu there is no way Guy Scott will be under Edgar Lungu. Guy Scott obviously did not do his homework when Sata was still president and alive. Guy should have pushed for the very human driven constitution

    • Come on Zambians!!! Don’t let me down, I don’t you call the “smart people of the Zambian Enterprise” for nothing!!! I personally trust your judgment, you always get what you want.

You kicked my UNIP out because you could! You kicked the MMD out because you could!! You can keep or kick PF out too or put anybody else because you can!!! When I read some comments I sense a feeling of hopelessness.

Cheer up every one, the destiny of the Zambian Enterprise is in our hands, you’re Zambians for crying out aloud! Let freedom reign, let the campaigns begin and may the best team with the best ideas and vision win.

One Zambia, One Nation … God speed to everyone running for highest office in our great nation. It’s a solemn call because Zambian lives are a serious enterprise not to…

    • I am waiting for Lungu to be confirmed before I offload my missiles against PF – be chimbwi no plan. They running round like headless chicken.

For now I am just watching.

    • If HH doesn’t win these elections then he needs to stop wasting his supporters time and go back to doing what he knows best.
I have never liked HH but he’s a lesser evil then this dude whos only known background is that of chewing his clients money.
To start with if Scott remains acting President until elections, the polls will be held on a very level playing field as Lungu has antagonised the very person he would relied on.

    • PF is a party of thugs that will give zambia a bad name. PF ministers are racists, it will be hard for Lungu to get international assistance and aid by donors in western countries with this blantant racial defiance. I regret to see that Dr. Scott is not treat with respect. Respectfully, Zambian pay attention to Lungu you will be all drunk with venon if you elect him.

    • OH! FINISH. GAME OVER. UBWATO BWAWINA, AGAIN. IT’S ONLY GUY SCOTT, CHRISTINE KASEBA SATA AND EDGAR LUNGU WHO CAN WIN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS FOR PF TODAY. MULENGA SATA AND OTHER ARE VERY FAR.

    • @ Msana wanzuna 1.12, I couldn’t agree with you more. Of the rag tag crop of presidential contenders that started to emerge from the late 1990s to the early part of this century, I thought Sata was the big loser, even among some astonishingly perennial losers. But as it stands now, HH has sunk further even after we thought he had already hit rock bottom. So if he can’t pull this one off, best he cut his losses and pack his bags away from the political scene.

    • For what it’s worth, these other ‘wannabe’ presidential candidates should just quit the race and support one candidate of choice. HH is untested no doubt, we have no idea how his presidency will turn out to be and I don’t really like him myself but he is the best out of all these pretenders.

For me the ‘fear’ is not what’s happening with this public ‘cut-throat’ drama in the PF… my fear is what the ‘cartel’ are planning and doing in the dark, behind closed doors. They are the ones who yield real power and they won’t let go easily. This is what we should be concentrating our energies on. Are they courting Lungu (doesn’t look like thus far), or someone else within the PF. Worse are they making deals with HH? I hope whatever the case, Zambians emerge as real winners.

    • I support the settlement in PF as being in the best interest of the nation.

The squabbles in PF had the potential of conflagration that would have engulfed all citizens.

Now that there is a forced truce in PF, all and sundry can go about campaigning.

    • Wait, the PF is still fighting within and democracy is what Dr Scott believes in and there are no short cuts. As for UPND we are ready to rambo! This time no Donchi Kubebe part 2! The Zambians have opened their eyes!

    • The best Guy Scott can do is to hand over his current job as republican president to Chief Justice, and leave Zambia for a while.
I feel sorry that he is white, and that is the only sin he has committed.

  1. Why is everyone talking about the anointing thing? Ubu tebufumu. People should be raising appropriate questions about this Lungu guy. What has he done politically? what about the issues that led to his practicing licence being withdrawn or suspended. We should be thinking with our heads and not with our emotions

  2. If this is Ok with PF then its okay with us. Iam ready to support your candidate. If its Hon. Lungu then congratulations!!

  3. But that’s not their prerogative as MPs – it’s a party matter not a parliamentary matter! If true this could be bad

  4. Lungu has usurped the powers of the pf constitution and this shows how dangerous he may be in the unlikely event that he became republican president. Those supporting edgar should have simply agreed to go for the convention from where he should have been elected as a pf presidential candidate rather than using unconstitutional ways. So when people said sata and pf were dictators they were right, not so? Any way this is the end of party for failures (pf) because most of us with rational sound minds ‘\ve gone for UPND’s HH. Anyway Katema rightly said sata was pf and pf was sata so sata died and was buried with his pf. Bye bye 3 year governing party your time is over. After all you came in through deception of all lies and God the almighty has finally sorted you

  5. Zambia is a joke, democracy does not exist. The solution is HH, Zambia goes beyond PF. The government is full of thieves, Chikwanda
will continue stealing from the mines, and the joke of all uneducated appointees will continue to be protected by the thieving leadership. Zambians wake up, you need democracy.

  6. I have nothing against E.lungu, but he is not presidential material, have we run out of pipo, ubwalwa (beer), we shall b a laughing stock, as a country. M bemba but I think hh, the power hungry in pf is of their own interest and not the country’s

  7. PF may have gambled their chances on this one. How do they pick Lungu as their candidate, the man has a criminal record of stealing his clients money? How about his alcohol addiction and poor health?

    • I we ka news paper editor, shut up! We know you and your tricks and this time they will not work. ATASE! Edgar Lungu is just the man and he is very healthy. Mwantampa nakabili mwembwa mwe.
      Viva pa bwatooooooooooooo…………

  8. Nice to know that these guys have come to some understanding. Edgar should now roll up his sleeves for a hard fight. It will be bruising, what with his murky past and the kaminamisa life style. To make matters worse, the Past paper are not on his side, and those guys hit hard where it hurts most. Good luck Eddy!

  9. The divisions in PF are so deep, it’s really THINGS FALL APART! The situation is now so fluid. The decision to take GS by his own party members to court over his acting presidency has marked the ripping off of each other’s knickers ready for “screwing each other” big time by using/abusing the court process. Ladies excuse my language but had to drive this point home in language that would leave no doubt in the minds of these the squabbling men & women! Whether CC picks a candidate or Gen conference picks candidate it’s all bad news. CC selection will give birth to protests by those that will remain in the PF & “silent” defections by those who will see no future for themselves (like Mulongoti & Mpombo did to RB in 2011) + injunctions & counter injunctions which may lead…

    • CONTD:may lead to failure by PF to field a candidate or at least severely impair campaign period and/or open de-campaigning of own party by some members. Gen congress will be marred by violence, corruption/vote buying (like all other Gen conferences/conventions/congresses in Zed politics) & to an extent a possibility of futile but time wasting injunctions that will work against whoever will be selected. Just hope the country will remain stable whilst PF consumes itself in this combustible air/fuel/fire mix of confusion! The indecisiveness of EL coupled with alcoholism plus reported embezzlement of client funds will make him mincemeat for opponents even if he manages to scrape thru the UPHILL battle to Plot 1. In my life time of witnessing plural democratic dispensation in Zambia, he…

    • CONTD2:he is the only “front runner” that I have seen relying on protests by cadres to secure nomination (literally afraid of being subjected to an open election) I never saw FTJ, LPM, RB nor MCS. All these were NOT worried about money! Why is EL so worried about money/resources for campaigning? IF EL is really a seasoned popular leader of choice he need not put faith in money BUT in the FAITH that people have in him! Let him tell the MPs to campaign for him at the Gen Conference so that he goes thru otherwise injuctions will ruin everything!

  10. Love or hate him, Munkombwe is a shrewd politician….he has done the cartel a donchi kubeba just like he dribble RB!! Long live kusheta kudya , we are in politics to eat, politics of the belly Munkombwe!!!

“We have decided and take this message to Dr Guy Scott that this is our candidate. President Sata loved me but he did not love me deep enough to leave me with the instruments of power,” Mr Munkombwe said.

  11. Let the Battle begin.
This means that now even the problematic Eastern Province has whole heartedly gone PFs way joining the other Provinces.

And PF is still called a Tribal Party? interesting.

I see this scenario: Party Chairman Lozi; Party President was Bemba now Umungolongolo; Vice President British Citizen.

Reminds of the time when my great grandfather Senior Chief Mwamba VI Mubanga-Chipoya died in 1898, they gave the position to Bishop Joseph Dupont a French National, He ruled Ituna until they were able to choose a successor.
Isn’t this democracy even by that standard

Yet to be a leader of some party you just have to belong to one tribe and no other.
    Well done PF Central Committee.

  12. Noti ifyakweba ati HH is democratic. He came to power through the “ONLY A TONGA” boolushhiit.
Now It On!!! Behold! Edgar is at the helm of the Pabwatoooo!! Halelila Haleinyalawila!!!
UPee enD headed for 4th drabbing.

  13. As expected….It seems that Lungu for whatever reasons is popular with some folk in the PF and hence his appointment as PF candidate. And looking at the other animals within PF lungu is the right choice for them going into these elections. Unlike the other pretenders HH et al..Lungu has advantage of incumbency..having acted as the president..himself. And for those of you talking about his past which one of you is perfect? We all have a past. Being drunkard does not exclude one from the presidency. As long as he can manage the intake of beer what is the problem??? He may not be a perfect candidate but his more sensible than some chaps mu PF. My prediction will be Lungu v HH….and Mumba. Cant see RB coming into the fold after this.

  14. Central Committee, well done! Congratulations Mr. Edgar Lungu and let’s ensure we prove our critics wrong. Continue with ALL the programmes/projects HE the late President Sata started to develop this nation and even more to all corners of this great land Zambia so that 2016 will just be a walk over. Don’t listen to stupid things like the new constitution, they will just derail you. Its time to focus, period. PF has work as respect and honour of our departed President M.C. Sata,

Lets move as a very UNITED PF front more than ever and bury the past. Let the rumble begin to those who were hallucinating in UPND. We salute you men and women and pls embrace the Acting President, he is one of us but being misled by known forces….

  15. Central Committee, well done! Congratulations Mr. Edgar Lungu and let’s ensure we prove our critics wrong. 16. Nemwe who is HH who has never subjected and of the position to an election? can some one tell me what UPND will do which PF is not doing? Hon lungu you are the father of the nation forgive Guy scott if anything let him continue as VP though luo or lubinda can be the bst

  17. How can these 63 MPs sure rally behind a man like Edgar. Lungu can not be President of Zambia. Guys we will be a laughing stock.

My prayer now is that the Post should dress this drunkard down !!

Its only in Zambia where a Lawyer with a criminal record can rule. Are we really so dull my brothers and sisters to be ruled by a riffraff ?

    • bululu Lungu will have the support of eastern province, Muchinga ,Northern,CB , lusaka, luapula, central . I see HH political career been declared over

    • Ba Joseph Sampa:

I not PF, I am probably the last Unipist standing so having said that I will now proceed with my answer to your question of drunkard, criminal records, etc.

Did you know President George W Bush was a drunk until he faced DUI charges? Met Jesus, then Laura and turned his life around; he was America’s 43rd President.

Did you know Bill Clinton was stripped off his law license after impeachment had several runnings with the law at one time? Changed his ways and today he’s America’s second most popular ex-presidents of all times; he’s America’s 42nd President.

Did you know Obama was a dope head, smoked marijuana and a heavy drinker? He turned his life around went to Columbia, the Harvard; he’s America’s 44th. If you want a perfect man, elect the Lord Jesus.

  18. There goes the Munkombwe antiques again. He makes me laugh my belly off. He has spoken his mind and truly he knows better how to eat. Pals should now learn never to trust certain individuals. Congrats grad pa for being wise as you have rightly discerned the direction of the wave. You have at least mourned your friend with passion for siding with his choice. if he was alive to see your now action, perhaps he would have elevated you to vice prsido. but Gin KAPS that lady yes.

  19. Why is Lungu scared of the convention? Zambians beware of this man, you know he is a thief and embezzler. Don’t be stup!d twice. You have been warned.

  20. he will be easy meat for hh let democracy win those who want to be presidents like hh bwalya miyanda mulipi nawakwi rejoice if lungu is a weak contender i remember sata saying i will easily defeat lupiya

  21. Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. Clearly, the republican presidency is going to be taken by HH. Lungu and HH are like day and night.
–HH is honest and Lungu is a thief
–Lungu is a drunkard and HH is sober
–HH is more educated, Lungu is a night schooler,
–Lungu has failed at his jobs while HH has excelled
–HH is worth over $110 million, Lungu is in debt
–HH has a respectable wife and Lungu has a drunkard wife
–HH is handsome and Lungu is ugly
    DO I NEED TO CONTINUE…..?

    • Where and how did HH get rich?. The behavior of parties in Zambia are almost the same. They preach democracy but their action are the opposite of democracy. No wonder we do not have a proper constitution despite being independent 50 years now. If PF does not give us a new constitution before the election in 2016, PF will loose the elections.

    • let analyse the 2; Lungu and HH,
let HH tell the people why he was suspended from UNZA.
you say HH is not a thief, then he should tell the people how he managed to accumulate the wealthy that he now has. If it was not for privatisation and his uncle Ben Mwiinga, working with the short one(kafupi), HH would not have been as rich as he is today. There is a Zambian accountant working with Standard bank in South Africa who knows how HH acquired his wealth.
HH does not drink, but used to frequent bars, I dare ask what he was looking for. Please people do not paint HH like he is a saint

    • @chama maanu
are u suffering from a disease of mind??? it seems you have a defeated mind already musankwa…you can say volumes, they will never change falling rainy water….i am sorry dear, HH will die with shock…UPND.went with MAZOKA.. my man mhsrp..To hell u rush, with your tribal syndrome…EDDY LUNG..KOLOPA DOT COM!!! NA SOUTHERN KUKOLOPA

    • Those characteristics can not win HH an election boss, Why is it so hard for UPND to understand HH is not a liked politician pa ZED?

You can not sale HH and expect returns BUFI

  22. THEY HAVE APPARENTLY CHOSEN ! BUT IT SHOWS SOME PANIC ON THEIR PART BY OPTING OUT OF A CONVENTION ! I THINK THE SAME MAN WOULD STILL HAVE WON AT A CONVENTION , BUT NOBODY WOULD CRY FOUL ! IN THIS CASE SOME PIPO WILL REMAIN BITTER !
AND BY THE WAY , WINNING THE ELECTION IS NOT GUARANTEED ! NOT A SLAM DUNK !

  23. Gean Kapata for vice president. Muntanga Minister of Foreign affairs. Mweetwa for Home affairs. Garry for Agric and sumusa for land.

  24. HH will hit Lungu with light gloves! With Edgar Lungu as PF Presidential candidate, then be assured that PF Party is going to the grave. Zambia cannot sink so low to vote for another mediocre president in the person of Edgar Lungu, another drunkard and sickling. We can’t afford to once again waste our money to maintained an already destroyed health. Edgar is sick. Get real Zambia. Young, fresh and vibrant HH is there. He sis intelligent and honest, why look any further?

  25. No James we need you. The problems we are going thru is becoz of HH. 1. he sold our companies which PF has reversed 2.He never wanted to be sata’s VP or work with this Govt. 3. he has never stated what he would do if became president. lastly he is not democratic. He can rule for life

  26. @Peter
Are you really sure HH (as a private citizen) could have sold companies while Sata/Chiluba/Mwanawasa were in govt?
the only involvement Grant Thornton had with the mines was AFTER privatisation when GRANT THORNTON WAS HIRED BY ZAMBIA NATIONAL COMMERCIAL BANK to recover their debt from Roan Antelope Copper Mines (RAMCOZ). HH was NOT the liquidator but another senior member of Grant Thornton (he is not in the public domain). As a matter of fact, Grant Thornton, synonymous with HH, DID NOT SELL LUANSHYA MINE. That mine was sold DIRECTLY by FJT and a Special Cabinet Committee set up OUTSIDE the ZPA Act, specifically to sell Luanshya mine as well as some assets which previously belonged to ZCCM. ……..

  27. …..Grant Thornton’s role in Luanshya was to sell off RAMCOZ ASSETS to recover RAMCOZ’ debt to ZANACO. The mine remained in government’s hands as the minority shareholder, until they found a new equity partner to replace Binani Group. That new partner is currently operating the mine as Luanshya Copper Mines.

  28. Why i will not vote for Edgar Lungu
1.He is a lawyer who participated in making the PF constitution which he has abandoned what will happen to the national constitution when he has the presidential power?
2.Edgar Lungu is weak as he allowed power to be grabbed from him and now wants the court to help him have his power back which he failed to do when he was the commander in chief.
3.He is not ready to be face his opponents what will happen to the opposition when he becomes President.
4.He stole clients money as a lawyer and had his licenses revoked which is a criminal case. What will happen when he has all the government machinery in his hand?
5.He has malnutrition due to beer drinking.

Why i will vote for HH
    1.successful business man
    2.Somber minded
    3.survived the wrath of…

  29. why do you like to xpose HH? you know that you will not vote for him yet you show as if you like him. pliz leave HH alone it is against human rights to subject a father to such embarasments like lusing elections. if you love UPND stand. friends and relatives lets protect HH

  30. This is bad! How does a group of MPs decide to hijack the process and go against the constitution? Can this lot support the new constitution being implemented, with this kind of loutish behaviour? What do they fear from a convention and an open process where people can challenge and stake their cases? I see a group in a hurry to railroad the process and protect their own interests. Zambia needs democrats and doers! People with a clean record! People who have a record of achievement! Wasn’t it Kambwili who was demanding a party convention the other day? What’s changed?

  31. EASTERN POWER! We are back on the seat like what’s up?

Told you, even our most drunk individual is till smart and wise enough to be astute to be chosen as leader and next president of majestic Zambia. This says a lot about how inept the rest of the PF ministers are. Sata was like am choosing this Ngoni/Chewa man for he is well versed and cool. That Bisa man MHSRIP was a great tactical Politician. Sata the great.

  32. The whole entire Eastern province now shifts to pf because of Edgar Lungu. Plus Copperbelt, most parts of Central, the entire Muchinga, Northern, Luapula and Lusaka. Whilst UPND has only Southern. Western province and NorthWestern provinces will be shared. So, pf is wining by over 62%. Wina azalila……!!!

  33. kindly avoid useless, comments HH supporters, you are putting HH under arkward position, HH is a good man, but this kind of talk by his followers is ,childish, and desperate, to win an election, cool down convince Zambians that you have a better candidate, who shall deliver development better than the PF.

STOP insults, and tribalistic mentality. go to copperbelt ,mansa, kasama and convince voters there

  34. My honest opinion about Edgar Lungu
The man is not a presidential material for the following reasons:
    • The man appears to be a very weak SG, he does not commend respect from PF members for example, cadres fought in his presence in livingtone while the other man cried uncontrollably. That could not have happen if Sata was present or Kabimba ( am not supporting Kabimba) but he commanded respect from the ranks and file of the PF.
    • Does he have the money? It’s close to impossible to run a political party if your pocket is weak, look at how Nevers is struggling! HH, Elias and Milupi are managing because they can pump their own resources into the party. Unless he gets to deep his hands in the state coffers, it will be difficult to raise money to sustain the party. Currently those coffers…

  35. Currently those coffers are being controlled by one who is not his ally.
    • Thirdly he needs to come against the so called the cartel guys, they have the money and the influence on the ground.
    • There are other guys like GBM who has influence on the ground, not even Sata could stop him.
    • He should not underrate the guy at bwinjifumu rd, ask RB. People say the press is the fourth arm of government.
    • If I remember correctly, this man once collapsed during a swearing in ceremony at state house. Does he have a medical condition? Hope not!
    • The man surrendered power for the sake of “peace” what else can he do under pressure?
    • Let’s wait and see!

  36. I hope zambians have learnt a lesson. you can vote for edga if you want but dont be surprised if within 4 months he will be admitted in a london hospital for alcoholic liver disease. more tax payers money, more, another chattered aircraft to bring back his body. Its now a trend all the politicians have to be flown back to zambia after accessing treatment from either south africa , india or the uk and bodies come home. when are we going to have a leader who really understands economics and sort out our healthcare. when these politicians are ill in foreign countries they take along not less 20 people in their entuorage, all these are air tickets and hotel accommodation plus hospital bills to pay. who pays all this ? the poor zambian who cant even access a decent hospital when they are i

  37. Someone to arrest Lungu because is becoming a threat to the peace the nation. I’m trying hard to see what our late president saw in him, but still i can’t see anything. Someone out there to educate me.

    • I’ve noticed that sitting presidents leave power to people who look inferior to them so that the nation can miss them more whilst away. Not that they see something special in them.

RB looked village-like when Levy called him.
Image builders had to work on him.

Lungu will also call them once in plot 1. It is these predecessors who leave us with mediocrity. Wake up now decide independently. Their choice should not be automatic on us or their party. Many hardworking and intelligent ministers feel let down by this rapping of democracy.

  38. Surely of pipo, the drunkard Edgar lungu as presidential candidate. I wud rathet vote for a frog than edgar.
if indeed edgar stands on pf then I and my family are not voting. He is no where near presdentail material let alone cabinet minister. Talk of the wife as the firdt lady… awee mwandi. Elyo lwanya nomba pa zed.
    Edgar=beer= rubber stamp.

    • Have you noticed that Edgar has been looking sober since the funeral? At least when the cameras are there. My bet is, if he does get into plot1 his first order of business will be to order the best whiskey money can buy and make sure the plot1 cellars are well stocked.

  39. Remember MCS himself called these same MPs and Ministers “Useless”.Indeed he was surrounded by useless MPs who can’t respect their own constitution. Can’t they wait for GA or respect GS?.Ndeloleshafye!!.

  40. Watch these guys. Kind of people that would suspend presidential elections when in power and say only parliament can vote for president. Bad start for young man EL

  41. We Zambians know our own dirty laundry and keep stock of all the skeletons in our closet. Now it seems the whole world may know as well.

  42. PF are reported to have been last seen driving in the fast lane along sunset highway, their driver – a classic DUI and their waterborne craft in a self-destruct mode. Their safety and survival, an improbability!

  43. I am reading this mess but cannot believe that people thinks that this man is a good choice to lead Zambia. Isn’t this the same crook that has been charged for embezzlement and misuse of funds? Isn’t he the man that was stopped from practicing law as a result of dishonesty with clients’ money and was disowned, repudiated, excluded from practicing law by the Law Association of Zambia?
Wow! My fellow Zambians, this country is d-a-m-n to h-e-l-l… another thief, and you are all celebrating…Wow!

  44. When levy mwanawasa passed RD paid the MPs US1.5K each to vote him as party president over Magande; Magande got few votes because he refused to pay the MPs out of principle. Now we are fixing to make the same mistake all over again.. we should put up a sign that says “ZAMBIAN PRESIDENCY FOR SALE” as I am sure that all who signed that document was either paid or promised a sum when he gets control of the countries’ coffers. I guess we never learn.

  45. You it’s really foolish, there is nothing called acting president, even when you leave the country you still president, so this acting bullshit does not exist, have you ever heard of president Obama leaving the USA says my Vice President will be acting president well am away, nonsense , as a country we are really backward

  46. In as much as late president Sata so loved Zambia that he so often entrusted Edgar Lungu with instruments of power in his absence, I will happily go for him if he is the choice of the majority. Lungu and Scott are among the people who formed PF with president Sata, MHSRIP. But I’m not impressed with antagonistic camps within PF that have surfaced. However, PF as a party will carry the day when the day of reckoning comes to usher in a new republican president regardless of who will be featured. The opposition parties in Zambia have been consigned to perpetual opposition.

  47. My personal opinion is that Edgar Lungu is a joke but let’s put pet peeves aside. I give Lungu an ‘A’ for effort to look presidential in recent pictures since the funeral of our departed dictator. Because let’s be honest, in the old days he was indistinguishable from those kaponya at Kamwala bus terminal. On the downside, even his best efforts still make him look like a wet farm chicken.

  48. I think regardless of who Lungu is, people should be asking whether the PROCEDURE was followed. Why aren’t Zambians interested in process? The scenarios that have haracterised Sata’s death will come round again at some point because we now think we can do things ‘willy nilly’. For me, Zambia is going backwards by not respecting rules, cheapening the office of President and protracting the culture of going into office by any means in order to be serviced, rather than to serve. I am afraid for this country, especially if PF continues in Power though either the weird ‘sympathy’ vote or by crook.

  49. @ Choma maanu,

stop behaving like Wanzelu et al, play it cool. Your HH is now faced with the greatest test in his exaggerated political pursuit. It is just less than 80 days left before HH calls it quits because the kind of embarrassment he will feel from unprecedented defeat will be too unnerving.

    • Inkoko my friend, you seem very confident in your prediction so I will not even attempt to contradict you. I gave up election predictions in 2011 after I shot myself in the foot by boldly predicting that hell will freeze over before Zambians can elect a scumbag like Sata as president. As we all know now, it was my prediction itself that went to hell.

  50. @chama maanu???
are u suffering from a disease of mind??? it seems you have a defeated mind already musankwa…you can say volumes, IT will never change THE COLOUR of falling rainy water….i am sorry dear, HH will die with shock…UPND.went with MAZOKA.. my man mhsrp..To hell u rush, with your tribal syndrome…EDDY LUNG..KOLOPA DOT COM!!! NA SOUTHERN KUKOLOPA

  51. Lets get rid of this bad PF experiment and vote another party. They can have Lungu as their candidate but its gonna be just that.

  52. Excellent and well done PF. You have the finger on the pulse of the people and have read accurately the wish and will of the people.

Your refusal to allow Guy Scott to derail the Party on some obscure personal agenda, has put confidence in you by the people.

I am so proud of PF, for seeing the need to uphold the office of the president main task of serving the people and honouring President Sata’s unique and creative thinking.

I will definitely vote PF AND SO WILL ALL your support base. Let’s get ‘normal’ back into gov’t. Highly commendable are Luo, Kapata, who fought to save Zambia.

Fact is PF has our best politicians. Please be encouraged to serve Mother Zambia.

    • I should add that for the first time, I am very proud of Kambwilli and his tenaciousness! He spoke up to Guy Scott and put him right ok!

Fact is PF has our best politicians. Please be encouraged to serve Mother Zambia.

  53. It is dangerous that PF MPs , SG and Chairperson do not even understand their own constitution. How do you expect a republican constitution from such people if given the mandate?

  54. I am amazed that in our party we still have people like Kambwili who are trying their best to ensure that the PF constitution is protected. Maybe he should take up the mantle of PF PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.

  55. Service men and civil servants take charge and control the schedule and programme of the President with little time for extra activities sometimes even expressing displeasure at such misbehaviour to ensure the office of the president of Zambia is respected and just like sata was tamed ,Edgar as the clear favourite to win will be tamed taught and run through management of the office of the president Its serious business and Government officers are trained to ensure all is well Edgar is more humble than others but needs to give chance to guy scot to manage and ensure election of president He should not engage in tit for tat with Guy.Edgar is clear favourite second HH HH will never win an election

  56. I guess this is not official since its coming from Brian Hapunda.this is the meeting which Guy Scott rejected.hope its true so that dust in our PF can settle.no doubts Edgar Lungu is most people’s favourite who will defeat HH and Nevers Mumba easily!he will have the following provinces as strongholds:Eastern,Lusaka,Central,Copperbelt,Luapula,Northern and Muchinga.he’ll win in all these 7 and retire HH!

  57. Where was Lungu in 2001, 2006, 2008? We original PF don’t know this man, he could even be working for RB undercover. Scott is simply trying to continue Sata’s work. And he has the law and the PF party constitution on his side actually

  58. Its correct the infrastructural development in roads and other projects in provinces above makes it harder to explain for people to shift and see the alternative

What message is there for people of lukulu with the embankment road almost complete

People have see completion of projects and its there in the villages to see

But again looking at the skewness in the current voter pattern ,it favours lungu as opposed to HH HH has a fundamental adjustment to his cluster of voters if he has to win an election otherwise the party will need to find an alternative leader to win a formidable election

For this one its clearly Lungu though Guy is right on convention time and ensure unity may be at stake

  59. It is unfortunate that these people think that they have a god given right to the presidency. I think right thinking and sober PF members, if any exist, should ignore these self-serving fools and go to a general meeting. Democracy needs to take root in this country. What are these people fearing? Munkombwe sure? Awe mwe. When is enough really enough?

  60. Lately Edgar has been yapping and referring everything Scott has attempted to do to the party constitution and yet he will be happy to lead the party without following the party procedures. I hope Edgar will agree with the MPs but ask them to have a convention so he is elected. This maybe good for individuals wanting to keep their jobs but not good for democracy within the party especially.

  61. Lungu’s tail is up because he thinks that Scott is scared of him. He is holding a gun to Scotts’ and the nation’s heads. He is in effect threatening to send PF cadres onto the streets to burn our properties if he does not get his way. While Sata would have chopped his unmentionables off, Scott is walking a tight rope. I think Scott needs to hold firm and force a general party convention.

  62. Let’s not forget that Scott’s job is straight forward. He just needs to oversee the bye-elections and go back to his constituency. In the meantime, he can do what Chiluba did to MMD – detonate a political bomb and create a schism in PF. This would then make it harder for Lungu to highjack the party.

  63. This is an election for HH to lose… his chances will never be any better, and I mean never! PF are chewing themselves into oblivion and obscurity.

I’m really just hoping that HH isn’t courting and aligning himself with the ‘King Maker’, aka the ‘‘Cartel’ just to try and get some favours to win votes, otherwise he will become the number 1 hated figure in Zambian politics.

What HH needs to do is approach and court Chitimukulu to get maximum rural Bemba vote. I read the ‘Chiti’s articles and he impressed me as someone who is educated, articulate and civilized. Plus I would think by now he is alienated and estranged from PF. So HH shouldn’t have problems getting his people’s votes.

  64. You see, we need to follow the consitution. Either for the country or a political party. Acting President Guy Scott wants to follow the law of constitution. His own party just endorsed Lungu. Now there is in fighting. God will give a credible leader to take the country forward. Who ever is elected we will accept the will of the people. Democracy is costly.

  65. so these rifrafs called PF Mps called a meeting and endorsed lungu, now want to tell everyone that this is the candidate.

what about the inputs from the provinces and other non mp members?

this was circus at its best.

you guys had such people in power for three years. oooops

  66. With this overwhelming endorsement, just go along an confidently to the national convention. After all it will be financed by the cartel. free ride so to say and wallop them in their backyard. Meanwhile, Scott should retire before he looses more honor.

  67. If Hon. Lungu thinks he is popular, why not go to the congress? Where is the fear. Just imagine, even nominated MP’s from the opposition are signing the petition……This is fake Hon Keith Mukata! Clearly the concept is seen here, they would like to keep their position/is it buying their position? Let us go to the the people and prove a point…..why not?

    • I was just about to say the same thing. Surely there is nothing for him to worry about if he is popular? Also what do these use less MPs think will happen, it’s not a parliamentary election

  68. Edgar Lungu for President, well its not sitting well in most of us but his the only person the late president (RIP) honored to appoint to act as president in his absence so they must be some credibility attached to him somehow though hard to chew the thought of him as president. God appoints all lets honor the election by Committee

  69. Dear fellow Zambians

It is our time now to collect our mistakes, we hired king cobra to take a lead in creating a better Zambia. We only have one Zambia and so we need to hire another Zambian to take a lead in creating a new Zambia. let us look at lungu and HH. What does the history tell us about Lungu and HH? history can help us to make a good decision of can take Zambia forward , we need hire someone who has good history of hands on than who has wasted his in cheating and drinking. Youths let us think of our future if it will be in safe hands with E. lungu who has malnutrition due to beer drinking.

    lungu garden boy.

  70. Edgar is humble and can suit too to be a president of Zambia. Everyone has their own bad habits so don’t blame him about beer because he will be changed one he comes into power. The chief advisors will do their jobs. EDGAR my vote’s heart beats for you my cousin.

  71. Edgar is humble and can suit too to be a president of Zambia. Everyone has their own bad habits so don’t blame him about beer because he will be changed once he comes into power. The chief advisors will do their jobs. EDGAR my vote’s heart beats for you my cousin.

  72. GUY? NO WAY…ON THE CB WE HAVE CHANGED HIM TO “MBULI”

The name Guy is misleading the people. It may be suggesting that Scott is very sharp and clever. The man has started creating confusion which he never did when Sata was alive. He has brought colonial antics and tactics to displace our well founded democracy.

MBULI SCOTT is hereby warned! You cannot cheat Zambians. We will rally behind Edgar and shock you. You will cry and are praying that when we are in power MBULI SCOTT will be deported by road up to the Mediterranean sea, get his own boat into Europe. Why is he not called His Excellency? His is just a caretaker and transitional folk! Lungu will teach u a lesson. Wait!

Dr Scott has a new name, MBULI SCOTT and all campaign songs must use it even in songs. Wait, he will cry…
