The Patriotic Front (PF) has set November 17, 2014, as the date for the party Central Committee to discuss and agree on the adoption process of the PF candidate for the forthcoming Presidential by-election.
PF Secretary General, Edgar Lungu, said the road map to be arrived on selecting the presidential candidate will then be communicated to all the PF party organs.
Mr Lungu, who is also Justice Minister and Defence Minister, stated that it was only the Central Committee which has power to spell out the avenue to be used by aspiring Presidential candidates.
He stressed that the PF is a democratic institution, adding that all members wishing to contest for Presidency will be availed an opportunity to do so.
Mr Lungu highlighted that the party constitution allows the Central Committee to, among other things, initiate and approve changes in the regulations and rules of the party.
He said until the Central Committee makes its decisions no official should be cheated into travelling anywhere to attend to anything concerning the party.
Mr Lungu said this during a press briefing held at Blue Nile Inn in Lusaka today.
And Mr Lungu has conveyed gratitude to the rank and file members of the party for the solemn and dignified manner in which late President Michael Sata was mourned.
He urged the PF general membership to remain focused and steadfast as the party advances President Sata’s vision both for the party and the nation.
Don’t re-elect the infighting and misfiring PF -an impotent PF will never give you any grandchildren and a decorated monkey is still a monkey
If you are fed up with lungu and find him arrogant and unsuitable to be the President give me a thumbs up
Thanks
This Lungu is just a clueless coward. He was Acting President, Minister for Defense and Justice and yet he now claims the AG intimidated him into surrendering the instruments of power. Because he is spineless he finds a surrogate in Newton Ng’uni to go to court. The cowardice he has exhibited is not good for someone vying to be commander in chief. Only in Zambia can someone who was fired from all his previous employment, embezzled clients funds and was debarred by LAZ aspire to be president …..and a drunk!!!
Ba Lungu Kuwayawaya chabe!! PF has been useless from the get go. MMD was also useless from the get go. Chiluba useless thief, Sata useless thief and third term pucher, UNIP was good for sometime before becoming useless in the late 80s. Mwanawasa was better, but still undemocratic, harassed media and opposition. Zambia has NEVER had a good leader. By the way, Zambians need to know that development will come from their hands and not from the govt. Be self reliant and move forward. Stop electing bad leaders.
@Edgar Lungu kikikiki, so the road you took with 63 MPs was long-cut? 8000-link PF project.
Atanga gave you 2 Sata “trains”, so try “RAILMAP” on monday.
This is common sense. There is no organisation that runs without members agreeing on how best to achieve their aims and objectives. Members of an organisation cannot be making pronouncements on the whim simply wield their power.
Today Sampa ati I am announcing my Presidential candidacy, Some MCC members ati it’s Lungu, Scott ati it will be decided at the General Assembly.
The MCC need to meet and meet urgently in order to discuss all Party issues as proposed by Lungu.
Mushota, you have my respect. Could we meet up for a drink please I am just in PA1 area next to Glasgow. We can also talk about the epistemology and ontology orientations for your PhD research. Let us just agree that PF is failing us and the way forward is HH. Thank you.
There must be an already laid out procedure for adopting a candidate. Why can’t the PF just follow the procedure and avoid confusion?
It appears they want to bend their own rules to exclude others from standing.
I`ve said before, and can say it a million times. Zambia has no ability to elect a sensible President. How on earth can one rally behind a person like Lungu as President. A guy with such scruffy character and looks. His background is dented with theft cases. Above all, the guy cant function without alcohol. This is the guy most Zambians are rooting for—– to become President. Wow!!!!
Lungu’s desperation is worrying- going the extent of accusing the president of having anointed him? There’s just no way Sata who believed in constitutional democracy could do such a thing. Shame of you, Lungu.
PF can suck my cork; evans mfula at evaduco reporting live from lusaka
PF is one congregation of thick headed numskulls who never learn simple lessons. One of their leaders just dropped dead on them and here they are considering to put another walking-dead named Edgar Lungu as their front-man.
All the best to all those with the lofty decision of setting your party pace. May they reason and reach consensus with a courageous spirit in the best interest of the irreproachable lives and magnanimous sufferings multitudes of Zambians across political and socio-economic divides. Whatever affects a ruling party affects the nation at large.
Miles Sata, hooo sorry Miles Sampa, already knows the procedure, take your nomination papers to cabinet office. What we don’t know is who received his nomination papers. I wonder why Miles didn’t take it to PF Secretariat.
Hahaha!!! Nostradamus!!! Yaba!!!
What party vision? Of unprecedented borrowing or unprecedented power wrangles? You should have been more specific.
Kilometer Sampa, like his best friend Guy Scott and Membe of the Post infamy, called a certain tribe as not fit to produce a President unless they married Bemba women, that this tribe was a bantustan and of no consequence in Zed politics led by an Under Five (a term of his uncle MC Sata – MHSRIP). Kilometer is younger than HH. So is this Kilometer an under 3 or in a uth maternity crib?
Moral: watch what you say for in future, it may well haunt you. And in the unlikely event that Kilometer_Miles Samp goes through, he will have some bruising. And there is the so called Mbandu-Clound. Anyone with info on this? Then those watchdog pictures of serial girlising….?!
Sounds devious – what is the message? What are you intending to “change” in the party constitution?
There’s no need to even change their own constitution. What are they avoiding kanshi?
Kaminamisa Lungu and his cohorts just want to take a short cut to ensure he is adopted. This is a decision by a selfish few who have promised those poor impoverished unethical desperate directionless 63 MP’s
Lungu is cantankerous and a serious liability to PF.
Is this the same Party that will have a ROADMAP for getting elected President in THREE DAYS?
And it could not give us a ROADMAP for the New CONSTITUTION in more than THREE YEARS????????????????
When they PROMISED it in 90 DAYS?
It shows where their interests are.
Definitely not the Zambian People!
Good move Edgar, that sounds better.
But what about the madness displayed by your 63 sympathetic MPs yesterday; what is your position?
With level headedness, this move by PF now to meet and chart way forward is the right direction. May God guide you all as you make your resolutions. I can only ask that you all become steadfast and put your differences aside as you put your heads together. This is not to signify your winning the forth coming by election but as a political party with own agenda for the people of Zambia you will unfortunately compete for presidency with other political parties equally preparing. I trust God has intervened now and you will all sober up. Don’t mind Miles action. Edgar Lungu, if Presidency is yours ,it will come back to you .No matter what people may say about you ,what is yours you will receive. Continue to be humble and magnanimous, steadfast and fair. Remember vengeance is of the Lord.
IS NOT LUNGU WHO HAD THE MEETING AT THE GOVERMENT COMPLEX YESTERDAY,CAN WE SAY YESTERDAYS MEETING WAS NULL AND VOID.LET US BE SERIOUS COUNTRY MEN AND WOMEN.THIS GUESS WORK TYPE OF LEADERSHIP WILL NOT TAKE US ANYWHERE.
Why is scared of coming to Mulungushi rock of authority this were PF government was born. The voters will still be the same.He thinks the plans they made at the lodge will work.other presidential hopefuls want a general conference, period.Anyway Lungu or anyone else as its HH2015 flight chbe.
Yes let others be given a chance to contest as well.
One story yesterday another story today. What if you don’t get your way on Monday?
Miles Sampa is the man for the job.
UPND cadres, please heed what HH has advised. Stop disparaging your opponents including Lungu. Let there be an issue based campaign from your side. Don’t your opponent, Lungu, before he is officially adopted.
Non of the parties have gone for a convention to adopt an aspiring candidate. The opposition want PF to go to convention so that it can emerge weaker and principally to eliminate Lungu who is a threat.
All I can advise ba PF is that, you do not have time to experiment. Let the Central Committee make its decision by allowing candidates to sell themselves and then choosing by secret ballot.
Don’t KICK your opponent, Lungu, before he is officially adopted.
No don’t KICK him, just get the PANGA and KILL HIM!
End of story!
Bloomberg says: “The court today adjourned a hearing on the challenge to Nov. 28. Scott remains acting president and no order has been made against him, Attorney General Musa Mwenye told reporters outside the courtroom.” So I wonder what Lungu will think of later tonight when taking beer
@Clutchplate Banda-these guys are just groping in the dark. Edgar’s team is full of amateurs. They are not seasoned politicians. If they wanted their candidate to win, they should have propped him up especially over the convention. Can you imagine he is now even antagonizing the acting president!! When beer stays too much in your blood, it does you bad. I can see beer’s influence even at a distance.
PF was buried at embassy park period. what we are seeing is the stench coming from six feet. after some time even the smell will stop don’t worry
Try asking Lungu what policies he implement if he is elected?
For sure we will get ubufi and bulshit.
This ID!OT is just like Sata. He just wants to be President but has no clue what the job entails! Besides a big SALARY for himself!
So the aspiring presidential candidate and several cabinet ministers were scared and intimidated by a Mwenye Musenge! Is this the type we want for Commander in Chief? Scared and afraid of being tried for alledged treason!
Lungu’s tendency to always want to use the back door to achieve his goals is evident. It means for once, that he is corrupt and has a corruptible mind. This is not what Zambians would want to import from the UNIP era. Such behavior is unbecoming in a democratic society. In too short a time, Zambians have witnessed a desperate Lungu engage in too many clandestine activities which, even by PF standards, are reprehensible.
I don’t care how desperate Zambians are this time around, to have a drunkard for president, Lungu is just not the right man. He is not just a drunkard and recklessly irresponsible. The gentleman is corrupt and filthily to the core.
Correction: “The gentleman is corrupt and filthy to the core.”
Surely, he cannot be a “gentleman” and also be “corrupt and filthy to the core”: the two are diametrically opposed!!
Why do they have to physically intimidate their opponents: Is tat the democracy Lungu espouses? At this rate – Clearly, Scott would have my full support at this rate, were I a PF member!!!!
Kikikikikiki jokes jokes, @Mushota thumps up….
Dont forget that when he was provincial minister in southern province Mile Sampa insulted Tongas buy telling them to marry Bemba women. So how is he going to campaign in southern province? What goes around comes around! Time for Tongas to revenge!
I doubt if these meetings are official.Lungu has no powers to call for a meeting.Neither does he have powers to call for a cabinet meeting.I have started seeing what Mwenya is talking about,TREASON.
So who has powers to call for a meeting in the PF? Is not the SG in the absence of the Chairman. So Miles Sampa filed his papers at Cabinet Office, who was the presiding officer at Cabinet office? I thought Miles was supposed to file his papers at the PF secretariat. For GODS sake people Miles wants to stand as president for the PF first, before standing as republican president. So Miles filed his papers with Guy Scott, is that not a contradictions of sorts since the PF constitution says the papers have to be filed with the party SG who happens to be EL As for you Mushota, your opinion does not matter, since as you claim, you live in the UK with nick, snicky or what ever you choose to call him.
Vodka Lungu is so inconsistent with what he says. Now he’s for the convention when a few days ago,he was against it. Am thinking liqour messes with his memory. Your vote is your voice but are you going to vote for someone who goes against his word? The man should be in rehab.
Lungu is so un-electable that despite the perceived support he scared of following his party constitution. Please people let have presentable people in office.
If something is yours, it will always come back to you
Are the two – Guy Scot and E. Lungu speaking the same language over the objective/s of the Central Committee on monday?? Lungu is talking of a process of selecting the presidential candidate. Dr Scot is talking about coming about deternming an electrol college. The later is more about logististics while the former is about procedures which are already outlined in the constitution. Watch this game.
What does Lungu mean by this quote? “Mr Lungu highlighted that the party constitution allows the Central Committee to, among other things, initiate and approve changes in the regulations and rules of the party”. PF constitution should not be amended just to please a few selfish, power hungry individuals.
In the meantime, felicitations to Guy Scott ( a Zambian, born in Livingstone in 1944) for a good job so far well-done.
I am a registered voter in Zed, I have started marking travell arrangement to go and cast my vote. LUNGU has my vote.
I fill sorry for HH
Correction
Sorry 4u Grand coz the way things are going The PF will not vote for Vodka Lungu. Re-focus on a candidate with stature and integrity.
The keywords are:
“Mr Lungu highlighted that the party constitution allows the Central Committee to, among other things, INITIATE AND APPROVE CHANGES IN REGULATIONS AND RULES of the party.”
Very important WHEN you want to manipulate the system!!!
I`ve said before, and can say it a million times. Zambia has no ability to elect a sensible President. How on earth can one rally behind a person like Lungu as President. A guy with such scruffy character and looks. His background is dented with theft cases. Above all, the guy cant function without alcohol. Only a tiny percentage of Zambia’s 15 million people are registered to vote, unfortunately. The rest, either don’t care or don’t matter.
If LUNGU gets the majority votes in Eastern, CB, LSK, LP, NP, MP, then he is home and dry. This is the most likely out come.
Merely an empty wish. Lungu has not even won his party’s nomination yet. He may be a good drunkard, but certainly not a good politician.
Yet again Lungu demonstrates his dedicated actions to put PF back on the road.
He gives directions, instructions on how to proceed.
Frankly I struggle to see the use of Guy Scott as Acting President. Every time Guy Scott acts, it is to dismiss someone rather alarmingly. He is clearly undermining the real democratic procedure, by creating pillars to uphold his agenda to maintain power in a certain faction group.
Guy Scott is really disruptive, manipulative and the head of a Neo-capitalist group determined by all means to undermine our constitution and democratic statutes.
@ Gus,
If you are not sensible thats your problem. Most zambians are very sensible.
There must be something wrong with the education system in Zambia. This Lungu is university educated in law and I assume he has a basic understanding of the processes of law, but why he is acting *****ic? I understand he drinks excessively but even that, he should be able to at least remember foundation things like Zambia isn’t a monarch but a democracy, why is he insisting he is the anointed one? Who was Sata to anoint any one?
Thats the way to go.lets get to it.
@ Sido Mark and Wanzelu cartel,
Know that you have hit a dead end. Your sponsor HH has just realized that the insults and sadism that you peddle online is not afterall the winning formula for him. To this effect he has ordered you to immediately stop raining insults and hatred online. If you continue, you do it at your own peril. In short HH has renounced you and any time he may defect to PF as a cadre. It has just dawned on him after getting the true route that late President Sata followed to ascend to the highest office. He should at least start as ward chairman in Chakunkula ward.
Umubemba Inkonko be objective.I for one I don’t Wanzelu in person and I am have enough Education with a good Job,iam not apid by HH.I have been following Zambian politics and have made my resolution to Vote and support HH.Thats what I have done.I have not insulted anyone, but debate constructively .Iam a very strong advocate of anti Tribalism and Racism having been a victim of Racism as a young student in Europe back then.Iam a true Zambian patriot who wants to see the best president govern Zambia period.Iam not looking for wealth iam content with % houses,1 BMW,1 Benz car,1 Toyota Hilux and a Toyota Fotuner .I only have three Boys and one beutifull Bemba wife.
“the PF candidate” being himself?
This is really too easy. Any candidate should be put through the paces, they should sweat blood to convince us they are the best candidates before finally being adopted.
I’m not seeing too much effort here or anywhere else – I would like to see visible, credible effort -like debate, meeting the press, complete and full exposure of personal and professional lives, I even want to see how they treat their maid!
Not this ‘buy cadres taxis or ubunga’ and the position is yours.
Sorry I meant to 5 houses and that I have enough Education.
lungu z not normal.he has no shame, after squanderng clients money and he is already thinkngthat zambians are stupid and they can entrust hm on bigger thngs.i dont think any sensible can go for him for the highest office.
Why should a political party meeting be held at State House? State House is government not party building. Don’t they have money to hold their meeting at a hotel or at one of their houses. The other day, it was ‘government complex’, today State House. These are senior party and government officials who are well aware of regulations.
HH cannot win this time around, stop fooling yourselves. The civil servants want continuity and so far the PF has delivered and have our support. Lungu will carry the day whether you like it or not live with it. Surly who can vote for the tribal party, they will chase all of us from the offices and replace us with according to them mwana wa chisi. Foolish tribe you wait for another 50 years. You are not matured yet. sela tu bombeko mwana wa ng’ombe iwe.
Whatever the case, Guy Scott needs to attend this meeting so that they can all agree on how to proceed. Since Miles has already expressed his interest, they should make the process as transparent as possible and go for the convention which makes sense in the case of multiple candidates. Refusing to show up to meetings and issuing unilateral instructions is also not serving Scott well. Both he and Lungu should realize that an agreement can only be reached when all parties are present. Let Scott make his stand very clear at the Central committee meeting and then they can choose how to hash it out. I am not sure what Scott’s motives are to not meet with your party members but 76 days will go by fairly quickly and at that point, he will not have a choice but to talk to his party.
Guy Scott and Roland Msiska have become captive mouthpieces for the Cartel propaganda. The acting President has become a stumbling block and a detractor to his own Party. When the central committee meets on Monday, they must discuss the issue of the cartel influencing Government policy. Lungu and his team must quickly develop proven strategies for responding to cartel propaganda. If Scott can’t attend this meeting because he is too busy listening to mmembe, he must be expelled and impeached immediately and a presidential candidate nominated.
PF supporters lets defend our country from enermies. they know they have lost so they will try to make our govt ungoverned. mr acting president pliz let CCM chuz our candidate for us. let those who wish to contest apply to central comt the comt can chuz thru a vote.
PF is playing without a goalkeeper and yet HH is failing to score. YABA! uyu musankwa!
?@ Olympia Extension Chick
Listen below to what laws of Zambia says :
Article 38. (2) “Whenever the office of President becomes vacant, the Vice-President or, in the absence of the Vice-President or if the Vice-President is unable, by reason of physical or mental infirmity, to discharge the functions of his office, a member of the Cabinet elected by the Cabinet shall perform the functions of the office of President until a person elected as President in accordance with Article 34 assumes office.
See what these USELESS PF MPs are doing to Zambia, Kaponyas, basokwe, Viva Guy Scott, Viva GRZ, abash Drunkard Edgar Lungu! Abash. Where is UPND? Where is HH?. Please Whip useless PF MPs out of Zambia as they are a disgrace to humanity.
@ Janza Kumbele, I have responded to your post in another article but will repeat for clarity. The reasons for which the Vice President is unable to ACT as Interim President are clearly given and relate to his mental and physical well-being. NOTHING to do with where his parents came from. The parental clause cannot apply to a person who is deemed to be ACTING as he is not elected. It comes into effect when one is running for office, not when one is managing a transition.
Here is my prediction: this party is going to disintegrate because not even super glue can hold it together much longer.
I do not personally want to see it disintegrate because it will not be good for Zambian democracy. If I was a Christian I would say prayers are very much in order for this PF party.
PF ni chama cha umbwas na majambazi wa siasa. Its a dog eat dog type of party driven by only selfish interests.
But Lungu if you don’t get selected you still have to pay us ka?
wisi nono wansekesha. Tamuli keeper but balefilwa ukwingisha! PF has delivered fertlizer, countrywide infrustructure to be completed, micheal sata trains, rail lines replaced, Zamtel in our hands. when all is done we shall just be paying back loans. This is what we wanted and by then HH can be president ninshi nakula
…Bane, any one who wants the Presidency should “sale” himself / herself first at the PF – Central committee general meeting.
Those vying for the job will be screened from there and adopted.
That is the candidate who will be presented at Mulungushi Rock of Authority.
PF give the people a candidate. I do not think HH is can win this presidential election. Its a pity to mention that he lost it all when he took his precious time to comment on tribal accusations labelled against him. These things you ought to be strategic and sometimes keep mute. Remember after President Michael Sata announced his first cabinet, people queried that much of its composition are Bembas. But did he respond, NO! Actually HH he should have taken a leaf from late UPND President Mazoka who avoided tribal talks. Since people’s perception on the street is that UPND is a tribal party, am therefore predicting a UPND election lose. When you speak tribal in Zambia, in terms of percentage composition of tribes, its as follows; Bembas are 42%, Easterners 21%, Tongas 19% and Others 18%…
@ Choma Resiodent
Tray to have cup of strong coffee and then read again gibberish and irrelevant comment you made on the subject matter of election process WITHIN PF.

@choma resident that’s your opinion.HH is winning don’t discourage as who want to vote for him in 2015.It seems you are to scared choma resident who is either Bemba of Nyanja.Let me assure you HH is a good man he will not chase from Choma. He will instead develop choma to lovely city.He means well for Zambia and his cabinet will be Balanced with pipo like Banda as vice president and Nalumango as Speaker of National assembly.Nkombo minister of justice, percy chanda minister of foreign affairs and Magande as minister of Finance and National Planning .while Kakoma to handle Commerce and trade.Dont you think you have a reason to vote for such intelligent people to lead Zambia.
Hon lungu jus follow wat the party constitution says, dont giv thiz upnd cadres a chance to assassinate ur character, show them that u the man 4 the job
Lungu is too drunk, unfortunately. He is already too drunk with power. Going by the Peter principle, he has already reached his level of incompetence. Woe unto you Zambia, if this guy ends up being the Republican President.
Sata NEVER had a convention or general conference in the ten years he was fighting for the Presidency. Why? He knew that people can be bought at these gatherings and secondly parties come out divided. PF can ignore Sata’s tactic at their own peril. Guy Scott knows this tactic but he is prepared to ignore this fact just to lead his own party to the slaughter. It seems his preoccupation now is to protect business interests of the cartel and not the PF. When Mazoka died, UPND was not facing an imminent general election, they had all the time to choose a tribal leader – HH and then disagree later. PF does not have the luxury of time, so why allow the cartel to control you? I am surprised that a central committee over 60 men and women is failing to see through the schemes of the cartel.
Dictators grow in the wild. PF lacks the luxury of time to go and hunt for another dictator, one of Sata’s caliber. Hence the constitution way. It is the only logical way. It is a good precedence for the party.
@Muzungu andi konde don’t mislead us.Mazoka died in may 2006 the date of election was already announced by Mwanawasa. The UPND had only 3 mounths to first Elect party leader at a convention with delegates from all the nine provinces.HH received votes from all provinces at that convetion.Unless you are telling me that delegates from eastern or Luapula were Tongas.Stop this cheap concoction.HH had 30 days only to campaign in 2006 presidential race.PF have resources as a party in power and January is still far we have December to campaign why is Lungu scared to the convetion? He knows he is not popular. For me and other normal Zambians its 2015HH flight Chabe. We are cruzing at 240km per second watch the space.
General elections were held in Zambia on 28 September 2006 to elect a President. Mazoka died on 24th May, 2006. UNPD had 120 days to elect leader and prepare for elections. When Mwanawasa died the MMD NEC chose their Presidential candidate and rallied all the support behind RB. MMD won the election despite all the negative campaign from the Post newspapers and Sata himself. Time is crucial for PF; they don’t have the luxury of time. In a country where 60% of its inhabitants live in poverty, delegates will be happy to receive bribes. Let the supreme organ of the Party (Central Committee) chose the candidate. Since Sata’s critical illness the Mmembe’s newspaper treats Lungu with a harsher standard, omits context, and shows a clear preference for the cartel narrative.
Am asking Mmembe and his cartel to leave Edgar Lungu alone!we all have history, bad or good.so Mmembe cant force us to hate Edgar Lungu bcoz of his dark days!nobody is an angel.people can either like or dislike somebody,so Edgar Lungu is luck bcoz the masses just like him.so local media learn.you painted Sata black, but voters never stopped loving him and end up voting for Sata in 2011.the same will happen to Edgar Lungu bcoz the cartel,Mmembe inclusive do not hold voter’s cards for us Edgar Lungu’s supporters!!so we’ll vote for Edgar Lungu no matter what trash you write about him!you’ve lost it(cartel) and just pay tax via ZRA!
That’s my man; Guy Scot! He has sorted the lawless crew. Who really thinks Lungu is fit to be President?! Have your head examined.
Lungu has been cut to size. He lacks the stature of his height. In the words of Sir Isaac Watts: “the mind is the stature of man.” Lungu is a political dwarf.
