Former Justice Minister and Secretary General of the Patriotic Front (PF) Wynter Kabimba has said that the recent events in the ruling party has left him dismayed at the escalating criminal, violent and corrupt behaviour in the party. In a posting on his facebook page, Mr Kabimba said that he joined PF on the basis of certain values and principles, and felt that he must resign when such values and principles are lost because he will be serving no purpose in the party.
Below is the full post:
MY RESIGNATION FROM PF
Good morning comrades,
Yesterday I delivered my letter of resignation from the Patriotic Front (PF) to His Excellency the Acting President Dr. Guy Scott.
I joined PF purely on principle and again I have resigned purely on principle.
My life has never been based on sheer opportunism but on the desire to serve the people of Zambia. Here are a few facts about my entry and stay in PF:
- In 2006 I was invited by late President Michael Chilufya Sata to join the PF. He shared with me the values, vision and aspirations of the party and after reflecting I agreed to join the party and became chairperson for Local Government.
- In January 2009 the President asked me to become Secretary General of the party. I was reluctant to accept that position. It took three months for me to finally accept the offer and that is how I became PF Secretary General in April 2009. From January till I finally accepted the appointment, the position had remained vacant.
- In 2010 at my office at Godfrey House, I requested President Sata to leave me out of his cabinet after the 2011 elections. I told him that I knew as early as that time that PF was going to win but I wished to remain outside government.
- In 2011 when PF won the elections, the President invited me to discuss appointments to his government. He again asked me to serve in his government but I turned down the offer, sticking to my earlier wish to remain outside government. Instead I recommended a number of my colleagues for appointment.
- In 2012 the President again asked me to join government. This time he lobbied the support of the people that he knew were close to me and asked them to persuade me. I felt duty bound to serve my President and my country and finally accepted to be in cabinet.
- In 2014, on 28 August, I was relieved of my positions as Minister of Justice and Secretary General of the PF.
That’s been my service, in brief, in the PF. Nothing about opportunism but everything to do with service. I’ve not lobbied for any position but at every turn I was invited to serve in a number of positions.
I had wished that I would continue serving the party as a member loyal to its values and principles. However, my loyalty has been undermined because these values and principles are, sadly, lost. Recent events have left me dismayed at the escalating criminal, violent and corrupt behaviour in the party.
If I joined PF on the basis of certain values and principles, surely I must resign when such values and principles are lost because I will be serving no purpose in the party.
That is why, dear comrades, I have resigned. I hope you will understand how difficult this decision was, because I still have good friends in the party who mean well. I can’t help but sympathise with them, given the prevailing circumstances in the party.
Ba Kabamba you are better off quiet naimwe, where are you even getting the balls to talk? Politics may not just be your thing.
Mr Kabimba unfortunately Sata is not here to corroborate your story. How does one get fired for no reason at all? And you call yourself a lawyer! This statement is full of craters.
Mr.Kabimba, with due respect, are you not the one who justified the attack of your cadres on HH, saying he had been provocative? Are you not the one who went to intimidate the ACC officials with a horde of unruly cadres? Are you not the one that justified selective application of the PoA? Are you not the one that denied the people of Zambia a new constitution? Wynter, you are better off keeping your mouth closed. Zambia is a better off with you leading private life. You have done great disservice to this country.
Joke of the day…..
What a bunch of lies
Thanks
(BB2014)
Okay Hon. Kabimba well said. Your resignation is accepted but no need to give reasons to play to the gallery. We all know the real reasons for your resignation.
But Kabimba, sounds like DOLIKA, ati ine to be in government “I can’t never. Nomba Ba Sata bampatikisha…”
Shhh Winter has spoken!!!!
Wynter Kabimba, silly hypocrite. You are the pioneer of corruption and violence in the PF. We still remember the Trafigura oil scandal in which you and your cadres trooped to the ACC offices and threatened the DG of the ACC. We also remember the killing of a fellow PF cadre by your team member along airport road when you and GBM were engaging in shadow boxing hoping to take over from then ailing dictator Micheal Sata. You have no moral right to even discuss corruption and violence.
Kabimba the mufumbwe incident clearly defines who you are. So no need to lie.
Nobody can redeem PF, just look at the PF confusion/violence, failure to pay poor rural farmers and students, high and unsustainable debt, weak Kwacha, oppression of divergent views, induced costly by-elections, failed constitution enactment within the time they set and the high cost of basic needs etc. Time to try HH and his team, if they fail we shall try other people next time.
WK, on a campaign trail in Lusaka before PF worn the elections said ( in chinyanja but basically translated here( there is a youtube video on this)) “You complain that MMD cadres beat you up, don’t you have hands to retaliate”. That is the cue PF cadres were waiting for to turn violent. They have not looked back since then.
WK is the architect of violence in PF; the problem is, he was not able to control the monster he created.
Zambians need an apology from WK for putting them in this mess, not self righteousness from this authors of confusion.
Kabimba you sound so humble now that you have eaten humble pie. Are you not the arrogant baboon who was refusing the Zambian people a constitution which would have avoided what is happening?
Don’t sound like a saint. When we form government we are restarting to investigate the oil deals that you were involved in.
Dear country men this is a good lesson given to Kabimba by god. While I sympathize with Kabimba but iam sad to say he was the father of PF militancy and violence.HH suffered in the hands of Kabimba, when he accused PF of having taken youths to Sudan for military training.Kabimba and Chumbwe trained these Panga boys and paid them handsomely.Kabimba did not know that the same boys he was training they will turn against him one. This is a lesson to leaders to try and do an to others what others should do to them. The waste Kabimba did was to delay the constitution and now Zambia is paying for this costly presidential by election. All this was driven by greed. Now kabimba has come to sense the best he can do is to join HH and reverse the things he planted. He planted a bad seed of violence.
Kabimba come to Mulungushi and see what you have put Zambians to.The blood of the Zambians will be on hands and sata.
Mulenga and Sampa have withdrawn from the race technically to allow kaseba to win the presidency of PF. Kambwili and GBM will soon withdraw as well for fear of splitting the Bemba votes.
Battle is between Lungu and Kaseba. The cartel want Kaseba to protect their interests while the PF feel Lungu is a better candidate.
One of them will emerge the winner.
How ever who ever wins will not be Zambian president but president of PF end off.
WYNTER KABIMBA NEVER JOINED PF BUT WAS JUST INVITED BY THE LATE PRESIDENT – THIS IS HIS CONFESSION. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE SCHEME BY WYNTER JUST NEVER MATERIALISED. THE PERSON WHO INVITED WYNTER INTO PF IS NOT HERE AND CANNOT REFUTE THIS WHOLE BUNCH OF LIES. JUST KEEP QUIET WYNTER AND DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE. THE CORRUPTION, VIOLENCY AND ALL NASTY THINGS THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT WERE NOT BROUGHT BY PF. THESE ARE THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN THERE AND EVEN LATE MWANAWASA WAS TALKING ABOUT AND FIGHTING THEM – WHAT EXCUSES WYNTER!
Wynter was a god at one time and no one could say anything. Now, he is a ‘political orphan’. Someone adopt him please, that’s what is asking for. UPND, MMD?? Anybody with space? Be in the spirit of giving and adopting naimwe! Its the festive season after all.
What a sad ending. If this man had been reading some of our comments, he would not have been where he is today. We kept on saying his language and attitude were making Sata and PF unpopular. The man was so arrogant. Thank God he was stopped in his tracks. HH should just forgive him for all the things he said about him. He was so personal in his comments.
Good bye, sir. Stay away from politics because you are a danger to national unity.
@Nostradamus MDB2014 Most Demented Blogger 2014
Leave Kabimba alone you lone wolf. What do you know about politics. You title says it all.
Confusion, confusion and more of it, PF is going down. The PF was founded on lies and violence, I’m its too late for Dr Scott to control the mayhem.
As for Kabimba, divisions, lies, confusion and violence found you out of PF. Well, Sata is being vindicated on his words about PF, “useless”.
Hero of Humanity is the only hope.
U seized to be Member of the PF the moment you were fired. That was good riddance.
About to write a book titled “How not to be a President, feat Wynter”. Hehehe
Guy Scott, Sylvia Masebo, Emmanuel Chembo and a whole bunch are next.
Guy Scott is the future; black people cannot run a country; give us your companies; we shall hire u; pay u peanuts and make a killing of a profit when exporting
we will miss you in the PF family dear. violence and corruption has been with PF since inception. you are a very frustrated human being i understand. pls try UPND
We don’t want him in UPND.
We all know you wish you were Edgar Lungu. PF doesn’t need you Zambian politics are better off without you
ok now you have wised up? don’t forget you are also responsible in creating this mess. you watch and encouraged these lawless cadres harass and beat up people. Hey! how does it feel to be on the other side now. how many times did we tell you to cage these Buffoons.
There was a lot of violence and confusion in PF when Kabimba was PF SG – so what has changed: remember the panga family feud on airport road (one person died); remember the demos in town. Why didn’t he resign then? Everything and everyone in PF is just lies, lies and lies!!!!
When you feel you can’t accept something, you must keep refusing.
His mistake was to accept the appointments, that dragged him down.
I hope he has a calmer and peaceful life now.
Huyu kabimba ni umbwa mbaya sana.I will be glad to see WK back in PF precisely because i love to see this kaponya party self destructing.
Just wait for the court cases Kabimba.Your corrupt activities with your late useless chief thug Sata will soon be led bear. Sorry to say that at least he is six feet under but for you………..mapenzi.
@Dr Kusebanafye,
It’s ‘laid bare’
I like that ‘ led bear’. Gave me an early morning smile.
Mr Kabimba just shut up. Sata is not there to support or counter your sentiments. Tell us also why Sata fired you.
Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.
Mr. Kabimba, even when you secretary general of the party and justice minister all the things you have cited existed. Why didn’t you resign then? Be honest. Zambians are not dull. They are good historians.

IWE CHI KABIMBA YOU ARE THE CAUSER OF ALL THESE PROBLEMS. JUST SHUT YOUR BALLS OFF AND STOP VOMITING ANYHOW. WHAT A WASTE
The SG position was vacant before you joined, but it is not vacant now!
Sorry, dspite being a lawyer, you never saw nothing wrong with accepting an appointment of a Party Position instead of being elected.
Just imagine if you got your PF SG position via election……wouldnt you have been a king of the jungle?????
I dont support PF, but that’s the price all people who paly goodie goodie and not look outside the box, pay at the very end!
Next will be Muhabi Lungu, always making wrong moves and turns when he is he should stay one side……. Watch this space.
Kabimba, who does he think he is? Who wants does he think wants to know about him? Give us a break you were and a nuisance and unpeople, that is why you cannot get anywhere in politics without Michael. So shut up and bury yourself in an unmarked grave.
Kabimba here is my POA101 (Piece of Advice 101) for free, I usually charge. $10/word.
1. Go behind scenes and help upnd win this election
2. Ask for no job as remuneration
3. Don’t continue saying bad things about PF – remember Sata is not there to stop the ACC or any other body from investigating you
4. Do some online courses to help you win some cases in your private practice.
5. Lastly but not the least, put your faith in Christ and success and prosperity will be your portion.
Ndeloshafye…….. so much drama…. TruZedian, the above advice should be charged at $100 per letter….. this is so nice 🙂
I am sorry that WK is quiting politics. In politics, there are political manoeuvers that appear confusing. However, such manoeuvers need not change ideological partnerships. The middle ground is always open but the neutrality of the middle ground is always problematic. It seems that a communication breakdown was too big to be resolved.
WK you’re the architect of the confusions which have rock the PF ; you will do well to shut up!!!
Winter firstly we are not your comrades. Second H.E didn’t appoint you to government for a long time because he knew your are incompetent. Your creditentials are simply on womanizing including that useless woman maroads. You were charged with raising funds for the party with your henchman Chibesakunda most you pocketed. I could go on but here is a piece of advise you will face corruption charges for the oil deal you will be convicted and serve time. You will explain how you “smuggled” foreigners to influence the election and voting pattern. You will be in jail for a long time!
Winter Kabimba, when you were chairperson of the commission of inquiry to investigate oil prices among oil marketing firms, you appointed a lot of your relatives to sit on that committee with you. That is nepotism, a form of corruption. Is that one of your values? Out of the information you obtained as chairperson of the commission of inquiry, you formed Midlands Oil Company to obtain monetary advantage. Is that not corruption. You are better off keeping quiet, you ain’t fooling anyone. And remember those hooligans you went to the anti corruption commission when the ACC tried to interrogate you on the trafagra oil saga, whatever the spelling for those corrupt elements you brought in. If you knew what’s good for you, you would have kept quiet. And remember how you called other tribes and…
To all bloggers the truth is Kabimba may appear to be a loser today he may be smiling tomorrow .The reason is simple ,Kabimba was tossed out of PF by the Bemba clique for fearing that he may take over from sick sata. The truth is that at the moment no one can organize PF like Kabimba.PF will lose to HH terribly .Kabimba will smile because he will have paid his sins and by giving UPND the PF blue print he will have a free mind. All those that will remain in PF will be dispised by Zambia when the docier of there thefts will be read before Zambians.
Amukoone buyo kung’anda yenu badala.
Provide facts and figures, names, and all the necessary details to the relevant authorities, ie, ACC, Zambia Police, etc. Don’t fear!
tru n u av realised that those fellows u used to persecute during your time as SG of the pf party will now be your superiors so the best thing u had to do was to resign on moral ground.unf4natly our man we trusted is gone to defend himself n we dont care about u WK
Winter, it would have been wiser for you to resign before you were fired and only then that you would have gone with a bit of integrity my dear. but as the case stands, you have no any amount of integrity whatsoever to grant you the guts to even make noise to the peaceful Zambians. you better shut up for now.
A good example is GBM who resigned from his ministerial position the moment he noticed that you were haunting his life; and there is GBM he is even trying his lucky to contest the party presidency and he is not being insulted even if everybody knows that he can’t win it but at least he has a bit of integrity because he was not fired but he resigned and he can give his reasons.
Resignation Accepted, Go well as Edgar Lungu would cry!
The question is why didn’t you resign where their was mass demonstrations against you ba Wynter including thugs carrying your mock coffin? Why wait until you have been fired and disgraced? The simple answer is that at some point you felt you were Sata’s anointed heir and now you have realised that you wont regain the lost glory in the pf. Anyway, I salute your decision because life is not just about politics and your are reasonably well off so why the headache of politics?

Ah look who’s talking… Do these people even have conscience about what they do and say? This criminal is talking about resigning after he was fired… an ordinary member announcing his resignation to the entire world. What’s Mmembe up to now and planning next? We should be reading between the lines.
‘Principle’ coming from a man who send PF thugs to go to Sudan and train as malishas; the man who brought in thugs from another country illegally to come and vote and do parallel vote count; the man who authorised violence against his opponents’ supporters. How very shocking. Why isn’t this man not in jail by now?
Is he saying the current violence in PF isn’t good enough for the PF standard under his SG rule? Like no one is dy!ng now so he’s upset about it?
Mr Kabimba, as far as the nation is concerned you no longer exist in our affairs so it’s not possible for you to resign.
But you have my permission to resign from the cartel if you so wish. Better hurry though because the cartel is dying forever tomorrow at Mulungushi.
Ba cyboc naimwe, Crediting Kabimba with organizing the PF? Crediting Kabimba with a PF loss to HH? Are you saying that if HH beats the PF, credit should go to Kabimba? Come on nangu ni blogging mulelandako ifya mano!
If you didn’t know any better you’d think ka Kabimba had something other than mushy mafuta between his two big ears. And if you didn’t know this boy and only took his word for it, you’d be forgiven for thinking he was a decent man.
