Dear Sir,
Today, I withdrew from the PF party conference because I cannot support a process that is splitting that party. From the beginning, I have only supported party unity.
With my withdrawal, I do not support any candidate actively splitting the party.
The assembly of conference delegates on Saturday, 29 November 2014, whose accreditation has been challenged, was considered fraudulent. During that conference, several candidates, including myself, could not even contest the process because officially accredited delegates did not represent us.
The same highly questionable practices took place at today’s process of delegate accreditation as well, only a different camp carried out the process. There is evidence that some delegates did not qualify and were not even PF party members. The Chairmen of Elections informed the conference that a number of delegates had left after Sunday, meaning that Monday’s conference did not have most of the expected delegates.
If this weekend’s process was considered fraudulent based on irregular delegate accreditation, then there is nothing that makes today’s conference fair using these same accreditation practices and standards.
Throughout both conferences, I could only see a party fighting against itself, with one faction voting for their candidate yesterday and another faction voting today. Because of this, I decided not be part of any faction that is voting to split the party. I can only be part of a camp that supports the unity of the party above all else. If I were to participate as a contender in either conference, I would be legitimizing the process of constituting a faction that won using questionable accreditation practices.
As I was submitting my candidature resignation, I asked both camps where the leadership is when the party is disintegrating around us.
I remain steadfast in my quest for a democratic country and for a political party that respects constitutionalism and high moral values in the management of public affairs.
I cherish a party that is united for the common good of its members, rather than a party that revolves around personality cults and big spenders that are in charge. I avail myself to any member of the PF who is desirous of redeeming this party, even at this late hour.

A political party is like a club and ideally members should have some form of identity papers such as a membership card. In the UNIP era a party card was so important that it was sometimes required to enter a market. The PF, I understand, deliberately did away with membership cards. This decision has come to haunt it. Anybody including hired thugs are claiming to be party members and with this confusion nothing good can come out of the General Conference.
Lubinda would have made a good president. Because honestly,Edgar doesn’t have what it takes. And neither does HH. With that said,am rooting for the one person you choose to ignore_Elias Chipimo Jr.

For a broke party what was the purpose of gathering delegates at the weekend and having them relieve themselves in the bush? This is rain season bane so all the feacal matter will be mixed with the water and go down to water used for drinking purposes! Scott and Kaseba themselves would not even avail themselves where the so called cadres were gathered because no they could not use the bush to relieve themselves. My advice to all those feeling aggrieved do it the Mazoka way – when MMD was about to suspend him he formed his own party. So all you Lungus, Lubindas, Kambwilis nothing stops you from forming your own parties and let us see what national support you have when the general election comes in January. This Edgar saga reminds me of 1996 when UNIP opted not to participate in the general election because their Godfather KK could not be allowed due to parentage clause. We all know what has happened to UNIP since then – it probably has more officials than members as FTJ used to sarcastically say. By not being in Kabwe today Edgar has just shot himself in the foot. IMHO this is the end of Edgar because he cannot form his own party as he is too broke to even find money to file his nomination – political appointments have been his livelihood. He just does not have the wherewithal to launch a national campaign without the full support of PF. His truancy behavior will just alienate him further from the ranks of PF and knowing him by tomorrow he will be regretting his decision. What a jerk!

Mr Lubinda, PF needed to go through this process in order to cleanse itself of the hoodlums. We now know who are the scammers. EL will have a week in the limelight and it will be lights out. People in Kabwe talk of his supporters as fielding pangas and threatening. What sort of President can he be? He has not come forward and condemned the thuggish behaviour, encouraging it instead. Although our country’s literacy leaves much to be desired, it will be impossible for him to win an election based on such an approach. No one knows about his dreams for the country, just that he has a gang of MPs keen to make him president. UPND and HH have been consistent. The party suffered serioud setbacks when MMD robbed it of a deserved victory in 2001 the death of its founding president, Mr Mazoka. The real test came at the convention to find a replacement for Mazoka. Most of the people who fanned trouble during that convention have left UPND and joined PF. The party survived and it only remains for bo Sikota to rejoin UPND. It will be a victory for hh and bo sikota over the secptics about non-bemba non-easterner ability to unite the nation.No doubt that UPND is stronger than PF.
Voting HH into State house is not exprimenting. The experiment was voting PF and the late Sata into office. The results are there for everyone to see:
1. Refusal to process an agreed constitution.
2. Use of the Public Order Act to intimidate legitimate opposition parties and their leaders.
3. Intimidation and embarassment of traditional leaders.
4. Biggest and most expensive execytive wing- over 70 ministerial
Positions dominated by people from the president’s region and ethnicity.
5. Physical attacks on opposition leaders.
6. Replacement of press conferences with Facebook in a country where majority do not have access to the internet. Even highly developef countries still encourage their heads of state to intetact with the population through regular press conferences.
