The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has refuted media reports suggesting that the Commission was served with an injunction to restrain the Returning Officer in the Presidential election, Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda, from receiving the nomination papers from MMD candidate, Nevers Mumba.
ECZ Public Relations Manager, Crispin Akufuna, stated that the commission was not served with any injunction to restrain the Returning Officer from receiving the papers from Dr Mumba.
Mr Akufuna said the Commission was on firm ground when it accepted the nomination of the MMD President because there was no court order restraining it from doing so.
Mr Akufuna said this in statement availed to ZANIS in Lusaka yesterday.
Whatever the case, Nevers is just a comical egoist heading nowhere. I would like to warn the UPND and HH in particular that the spirit of insults and rigging plus killing the main opponents has now overtaken the PF.
