Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people has reconciled with the Catholic Church and had his marriage blessed in holy matrimony at a colourful ceremony in Chipata yesterday.

Giving a sermon at St Gabriel Outstation at Luangeni village, Catholic Dioceses of Chipata Bishop George Lungu urged people to take a leaf from the Paramount Chief who has realized that God was the answer in this life.

Bishop Lungu noted that marriage was an institution which God put in place adding that the couple should always to rely on God’s guidance when faced with challenges and also in happiness.

Bishop Lungu stated that there is need for people to bury the past and begin a new life by putting God first in the daily endeavours of life.

He said people should follow the steps Paramount Chief Mpezeni who is David Jere and his wife Ester Mbewe, has taken to have their marriage blessed in church and dedicate their lives to God.

He has also urged the electorates to vote wisely in the forth coming Presidential election by voting for someone who has a passion to work and improve people’s lives especially the poor.

Bishop Lungu also urged politicians to respect one another as they conduct campaigns for the January 20,2015 if elections were to go well.

He said it sets a good example when chiefs were God fearing and gives a good example to the subjects to follow suit.

The Bishop has since declared St Gabriel Outstation a sub Parish to enable the subjects and the Paramount Chief have services closer to them.

And speaking at the same function, Senior chief Kalindawalo has called on other chiefs that did not have their marriages blessed in church to emulate Paramount Chief Mpezeni.

He also appealed to the church to honour Paramount Chief Mpezeni by establishing a Parish in Luangeni village as a gesture of good will as that will encourage people in the Ngoni land to attend church services.

And speaking through Induna George Zulu, Paramount Chief Mpezeni said he was following the footsteps of his parents who were Catholics.

The traditional leader thanked the Church for accepting his request to reconcile with it and also have his marriage blessed in holy matrimony.

He urged the people to have respect for one another as human beings and avoid confrontation.

    • I thank God I’m not from Eastern Province because this ci Chief is a big embarrassment. He’s always in the media for wrong reasons most of the time. When his colleagues around the country are refusing to endorse any one he’s doing the very opposite. In 2011 he endorsed akulu mphunu and we all know how those polls panned out, no decent and sober people listen to him. FLIGHT HH2015

    • The catholic Church in Zed should just call back Milingo!! How can a Chief with so many wives, we have lost count, BE ALLOWED TO MARRY IN CHURCH, & have A BISHOP as celebrant?? We know their relationship with Sata, BUT THIS ONE, forget it – In Zed I wouldn’t be surprised if all Catholic clergy were responsible for siring at least one of our 14 million populace – the are indeed multiplying as they were sent to do!!!

  2. Congratulations aMfumu Mpezeni. May God bless your humility you have shown before him who created you. The Mighty Catholic Church is proud of your decision.

  3. Hhahaha, if the catholic reconcile with he chief outside God, it is as good as saying you have eliminated the blood infecting kalombo with boom! It doesnt work!! Try the blood of Jesus!

  4. Amfumu elungula mwanakazi. I hope we will not be seing him in those tuma Chipata nite clubs clubbing like hell! Tagging with young and under age girls!

  5. Yaba, that ka deliquent chief is marrying again number what? After infecting a lot of girls and women with HIV, feel sorry for that girl. What a ngoni disgrace of a chief!

  6. But Zambian women have just become desperate…this Esther; why is she destroying her future as young looking as she is sure??

    • Zambian women are not desperate but only those from eastern province are the ones who can do anything just to full-up their bellies.
Yangua, uyu chikashana Esther. Nakatina nakalya. Seek Dr. Sondashi.

    • Air Mukwai is Kaseba from Eastern province? What about Mrs GBM who is clobbered everyday by her fat husband but does not leave him is she from Eastern province?

    • @Mphendula Kayaula
Your questions can be referred as “under five” questions. Same as asking whether a dog nganinkota atemwa nikalume. Open your eyes atemwa ifipenipeni pakuti ulechebula bwino ifyalabwa.

  7. Imwe Bantu is this Chief healthy? Nagoya? This is a result of nightclub life, liking ladies indiscriminately and being a Chakolwa.
    Bwafya!
    Good luck Esther!

  8. Vodka is fearing to be asked how he is going to manage public resources if he could steal a poor clients money. This is stealing from citizens. At times i wonder how Zambians think. A well known and documented thieving lawyer who had his license suspended by a professional body LAZ can present himself for election and you are there praising him. Don’t we see something wrong with stealing? Im not accusing vodka Lungu that he is a thief. It is in public domain. Not my vote for thieves

  9. Katondo boys, obviously your brains are upside down or they are rabbit size. You should start by moving the former First Lady and failed presidential candidate Dr Kaseba out of State House to create room for Hon Lungu and his family. If she has nowhere to go ask the UTH to find something for her in the doctors’ quarters, she is their employee remember?

  10. Whats wrong with us Africans and these mentally enslaving religions? What happens If the Catholic church doesn’t bless the marriage? Dont the children get born? Like they did before the catholics came to africa in 1800? Before that didn’t we have marriages? And families and people?
