FIVE United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres have appeared in the Livingstone Magistrate’s Court on separate charges of assault and unlawful wounding of Patriotic Front (PF) supporters.
Mate Chihinga, 39, of Kashitwe Extension and Evon Sikamba, 37, of Sindi Road in Livingstone are charged with assault occasioning bodily harm while Chileshe Mulenga, 37, of C24 in Malota township, Katyati Viyaga, 39, of C40 Ngwenya township and Brian Mukite, 34, of Maramba township, all in Livingstone, are charged with unlawful wounding.
Southern Province commissioner of police Mary Chikwanda confirmed the incident and said the five allegedly used a knife and another sharp tool to assault and wound three PF members.
She named the victims as Mikawo Nyambe, 43, of house No 1589 Lusaka Road in Livingstone, James Chanda and his brother Edward Mwansa, of unknown age, but both residents of house No 180 Zesco township, Livingstone.
Ms Chikwanda said the incident happened on Thursday when some UPND members allegedly attempted to remove PF campaign materials.
“According to the report, the UPND cadres tried to remove the PF campaign materials and when the PF members tried to stop them, some PF members were attacked and assaulted,” she said.
Ms Chikwanda said the five UPND members appeared in the Livingstone Magistrate’s Court on Friday and are charged with assault and unlawful wounding but were released on bail.

Atlease these UPND were arrested, unlike the Mongu plank busting live on TV, the husband of DC was not arrested.

The former first lady, Dr Maureen Mwanawasa et al where leeched upon by PF regrettable cadres in full view of police who are now partisan, and the evidence is there in public domain, but zero arrests have been made.

Problem with UPND is that they are obsessed with wining to the level that they do not even know what is happening around the country. The man in Mongu was arrested and is now out on bail. Learn to know what is happening around you.
That is why they believe they will win. Talk to other people around the whole country and you will understand HH is headed for another humiliating loss. The tribal tag will not easily go away. Try non Tongas in your next executive, including the party president.
