Transparency International Zambia has described the 2015 presidential elections as largely fair and that the results management by the Electoral Commission of Zambia was credible and march with its Parallel Voter Tabulation results.

TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu in a statement to QFM News says the just ended presidential election showed remarkable improvements in the overall election management, and that further, a number of transparency mechanisms were adhered to.

Mr Lungu says while TIZ noted some concerns over the delay by the ECZ in announcing elections results which had been declared by the returning and presiding officers, some stakeholders fueled unnecessary and baseless suspicions.

He says TIZ was pleased with the decision by the Commission to paste election results outside polling stations as this enhanced transparency and allowed political parties to and stakeholders to closely follow the outcomes of the elections.

Mr Lungu adds that TIZ also noted some marked improvements in the manner in which questions and concerns were handled by the ECZ at the National Presidential Elections Results Centre.

He further states that TIZ appreciates the efforts by the ECZ to introduce a more transparent way of counting the votes at polling stations as well the collation of results at various centres.

Mr Lungu says while long and tedious, this helped inspire confidence in the various stakeholders.

He says it is also commendable to note that the majority of the polling stations opened on time and had the required election materials.

Transparency International Zambia deployed election monitors in a number of polling stations and the 150 constituency totalling centres in the country.

    • Goodwell lungu, you are part of the umhozi ku mawa, so no can take you serously. ECZ itself admitted that there were irregularities across the country which it claimed were rectified.

Then you come here and spew rubbish that there was non. Your days are numbered mufana iwe.

    • HH owes the sponsors of his extensive and expensive campaign an explanation, the most plausible of which is – the vote was stolen. it is logical. It is his way to hide from their wrath. I believe he lacks the magnanimity of a star politician. His money was the reason he joined politics. But politics and money are not necessarily synonymous. Let him retire from politics and go and look after his cows…

  1. TIZ, you PVT was almost irrelevant as it waited for ECZ to collate its results. Next time we would love to see your results first.

Otherwise good that you say they the elections were feya.

Zambia has scored in the region at the end of the day.

  2. We shud blame ourselves for this mess! Mbikusita, Chona etc gave LEADERSHIP to the NE Rhodesians. WE were the educated and WE gave it up for crying out loud! But this time WE are not making the same mistake – Mr Lungu u don’t want us, let US go ! We have always known OUR destiny and we shall survive – FOWARD !

  3. All the stakeholders have declared the election credible and fare but UPND say otherwise .

Is HH saying that the all world has ganged up against him and his party?

In reality, HH wants the party to continue supporting him after failing them for four times .

Secondly his improved performance in the last election was a mirage. His results were driven by voter apathy and not his robust and expensive campaigns, endorsements nor 10 years political experience.

  4. Ulibe Nzelu you are so irrelevant boy and your small medulla oblangata sees things always in black and white just like your companions at Galu watchers Zambia Ltd. I used to write ati wina azalila, is it still bleeding? Learn to see reality and never build castles in the air.
