Injured Zambia and Zesco United defender Nyambe Mulenga has been nominated for the 2014 FAZ/MTN Player of the Year award.

Nyambe’s nomination comes after a bittersweet 2014 season for him.

Nyambe won the 2014 FAZ Super Division title with Zesco but failed to go to the 2015 Africa Cup after breaking his leg in a car accident in December on his way joining Zambia’s pre-tournament training camp in Lusaka.

He is vying for the Zambia Player of the Year award alongside club mate Jackson Mwanza and former Nkana stroker Ronald Kampamba.

Mwanza is already set to picked up the 2014 Top Scorer Award after scoring 15 league goals for Zesco last season.

Zesco have also been nominated in two other categories.

Zesco trainer George Lwandamina is up for the Coach of the Year Award together with Aggrey Chiyangi of Zanaco and Tennant Chilumba from Power Dynamos.

Striker Winston Kalengo will battle for the most disciplined player away against Kampamba and Nkana defender Donashano Malama.

The race for the 2014 Young Player Award will see Power Dynamos midfielder Larry Bwalya vie for the honour with his former Nchanga Rangers clubmate Patson Daka and Choma Eagles’ Spencer Sautu.

Winners will be unveiled on February 20 during the 2014 MTN/FAZ Awards Ceremony to be held at Moba Hotel in Kitwe.
