Newly appointed Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Joseph Katema has assured the traditional leadership in the country that he will not interfere in succession wrangles as advised by President Edgar Lungu.
Dr Katema said that he will instead work closely with traditional leaders in uniting Zambians.
He said that traditional leaders are influential, the reason why he has identified them as key in helping unite the people of Zambia.
Dr. Katema added that Chiefs play a critical role in the governance process.
He said he has no doubt in his mind that the traditional leadership will work closely with government in preaching peace and unity among the Zambian people.
Dr. Katema stated that the traditional leadership in the country should be rest assured that he will allow them to do things according to their tradition and culture.
Earlier today the President warned Dr Katema to stay away from succession wrangles.
He will just be eating intoyo and attending Traditional Ceremonies!

Just as many people have, you are confusing VISION with STRATEGY.
If the vision is to go to Monze, it means that people need to be in Monze at the day.
The mode of transport or translation you use from Lusaka to Monze is not the issue as far as the VISION is concerned.
Those modalities and logistics you attend to in order to get to Monze are a function of STRATEGY.
If you were in the country (or even outside as long as you were following) at the time of Campaign, president Lungu said he would pursue the VISION of Sata, which basically is that of PF as a party. President Lungu NEVER said he would follow Sata’s STRATEGY.
The same confusion is what people have about the constitution; they don’t often understand what they are saying yet argue with untold passion.

Zambia must move away from the outdated traditional chiefs in the 21st century nation-state. Traditional chiefs are, if you like, states within a state. You cannot promote backwardness and expect to move the country harmoniously into the modern age. There is need for central government to do away with these old-fashioned pockets of tribalism led by traditional chiefs. Chiefs do not serve any purpose in the modern electronic age. It is like a father and his family and the eldest son with his family living in one house – imagine the havoc in such a set up. Tribalism is promoted around the chiefs. In the First World there are no chiefs which is why there is stability.
