Bornwell Mwape scores for troubled Amazulu

Zambia striker Bornwell Mwape scored his fourth goal of the season in South Africa but it was not enough to send his new club Amazulu to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup.

Mwape put beleaguered Amazulu 1-0 ahead in the 10th minute in a last 32 Durban derby Cup clash against Golden Arrows on Friday night after turning his marker to send in a low drive.

The ex-Nchanga Rangers striker could have added a brace but his volley from range in the 20th minute was deflected for a corner.

Mwape played the full 90 minutes for Amazulu who are also bottom of the PSL table and found no comfort in Cup action on Friday night.

Meanwhile, promotion leaders Arrows punished Amazulu for their defensive frailties when Mabhuti Khanyeza equalised on the stroke of halftime with a superb free kick.

Amazulu were sunk in the 70th minute when defender Roscoe Pietersen scored an own goal after the ball took a deflection off his body.
