‘Cleansed’ Shepolopolo chase All-Africa Games qualification

Share

The Zambia Senior womens team on Sunday face Tanzania in the 2015 All-Africa Games qualifier match at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

This will be Shepolopolo’s first match since their fruitless outing at their debut Africa Women Championship in Namibia last October that saw them make a group stage exit.

The inexperienced new-look Zambian side coached by Albert Kachinga has just been in camp for two weeks prior to this match in the wake of a player strike after the Namibia finals over pay that was dramatically played out in the media for two weeks after the team returned from the tournament.

Meanwhile, Tanzania’s Twiga Stars are in Lusaka seeking revenge for the 3-2 aggregate loss to Zambia in the Africa Women Championship qualifiers last year.

“We have come here to win and nothing else. These girls are better than last year,” Tanzania coach Rogasia Kaijage told journalists on arrival in Lusaka on Friday.

However, Kachinga has declared his untested and “cleansed” Zambia ready for Tanzania.

“We will take them on. The team has prepared well and is ready for the challenge,” he said two days before the match.

If Zambia overcomes Tanzania in this round they will progress to the finals to be held in Congo-Brazzaville this September.

  1. Vigololo na bola siviendelena. How can a coach start sleeping with those lady players for places? its not good. That coach should be changed and given a lady coach. You mean they are NO ladies coaches around pa Zed? To hell with him. Players can not perform if the coach organizes men for them and starting enjoying themselves. If this trend and pattern wont change ZM shipolopolo wont win. Too much corruption there.
