2017 AFCON qualifiers draw tough – Kalusha

Share

Kalusha Bwalya has cautioned Chipolopolo against underrating their Group E rivals in the 2017 Africa Cup qualifiers that starts in June.

Zambia will face Congo Brazzaville, Kenya and Guinea Bissau as they fight for a slot at the Gabon finals in two years time.

Kalusha, the FAZ president and soccer icon, said Zambia is in a tough group.

“It is a tough draw especially that we will start this year and finish next year. So each game will be crucial.

All the opponents have made major strides in recent years,” Kalusha said.

Zambia host Guinea Bissau in the opening qualifier on June 30 before travelling to Kenya on 6 September.

“We have to be alert not to be surprised. We have an obligation to qualify to the Africa Cup and maintain our record,” Kalusha said.

Only group winners and two best runners up will join Gabon at the 2017 AFCON.

Zambia has been to the Africa Cup 17 times.

  1. Thank you admitting that Mr. President. With HJ at the helm you won,t go far you will finsh 4th.Congo are the fevourites unless you hire a new coach ASAP!

  2. All fixtures are tough for our FAZ. Even if Zambia was drawn against Ndola utd, City of Lusaka and Petauke utd, Kalusha Bwalya would still say its a tough draw. Do something Kalusha to give us confidence in the team again

    • Iwe kekekekeke that was my line.
But seriously, what is tough about those teams, maybe TRAVELING ARRANGEMENTS. And its tough for Kalusha because this year might be last to be employed in Zambia.

  3. The only tough thing here peradventure, could be the fact that we do not have a stable professional for a coach! FAZ its high time you took the feelings of the Chipolopolo fans into consideration. I personally am tired of watching matches where i have to cross my fingers 90 minutes plus!
