The re-elected Senga Hill Member of Parliament (MP) Kapembwa Simbao has said the just ended by-elections were hotly contested.

Mr. Simbao, who is now Patriotic Front (PF) MP, said the election was a hot contest because the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) also did their best in the campaigns.

He said this in Mbala district shortly after the returning officer Rodwell Ng’ambi declared him winner at 11:45 hours this morning.

The Senga Hill by-elections were contested by only two political parties, the UPND and PF.

Mr. Simbao got 7,815 votes while the UPND candidate Giles Yambayamba got 4,570 votes.

He has since warned the UPND that Northern Province was not going to be easy for the opposition party to penetrate.

He further said those that did not vote for him were cheated not to believe that he was a good candidate.

Mr. Simbao charged that he has not come back the same person but as a rejuvenated MP, ready to serve the peoples of his area.

He has since thanked the electorates for having confidence in him.

Mr. Simbao said he will deliver his campaign promises as it was much easier to lobby for resources when one is in the ruling party than in the opposition.

And Mr. Simbao’s Campaign Manager Freedom Sikazwe said it will be hard for the opposition UPND to penetrate the province.

Mr. Sikazwe, who is also Northern Province Minister, said the fact that the PF has won all the three parliamentary by-elections was a clear indication that people still have confidence in the ruling party.

He has since called on all the PF members to continue supporting the party and President Edgar Lungu.

Mr. Simbao said the only reason the UPND managed to get such a number of votes was because of the candidate they had adopted.

He noted that under normal circumstances, the UPND could have gotten less but noted that the results were not an indication that the party was gaining ground.

And UPND losing candidate could not be reached for a comment by press time.
Meanwhile, the Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has called on the electoral Commission of Zambia to use electronic means of sending results than waiting for polling agents to transport the results.

FODEP Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi, who was at the totalling centre, said it was unfortunate that results delayed to be announced because of the bad weather.

Mr. Chipenzi said he was also concerned with the voter apathy that was recorded in all the three just ended by-elections.

  1. Congrats to Engineer Kapembwa Simbao on your reelection as Senga Hill Mp.

Ba Yambayamba, we’re ready to adopt you on Pf ticket in 2016 as we don’t expect ba Simbao to recontest beyond his expiry date

    • Congratulations to you Simbao, enjoy your victory whilst it lasts!

Well comrade Simbao, what are you going to do with the rotting economy & subliming kwacha? Get to work all of yous PF chatterboxes’, show us how you will improve the efficiency of the economic crisis & diminishing kwacha which have since worsened by poor PF policies & planing.

      Get to work PF now!

      The Skeleton Key
      ~206~

  2. Congrats to PF, but Simbao you are truly unprincipled which is the reason this country will remain static. How do you account for the fact that you were cited for corruption and now you want to sing the song of anti-corruption together with PF?

  3. …If you ignore the UPND gaining ground in these proivinces of Muchinga, Northern and Luapula, you are doing that at your own peril. Even at Ptresidential level, those are not the votes that HH used to get. So, corrupt Simbao is very wrong to say that the UPND got those votes because of the candidate.

Watch 2016, that Jaibird Sikazwe will cry… M****** mwe!!

    • You are angry my brother take it easy am upset too with the results because we cannot be recycling corrupt people in the hope that things will get better when they are only there to enrich themselves.

  4. Some day Zambians will wake out of their slumber and remember to reject corruption. Simbao and Katambo are symbols of corruption. Surely, how can they be reelected after changing thin coats?

    • @CHALIBONELA, ASK THE ELECTORATES WHO VOTED. OTHERWISE, PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF UNDP HASH LANGUAGE. PERIOD. ‘TO SEE SNAIL’S EYES IS PATIENCE”. SO………….

  5. Simbao is 100% correct,UPND under HH cannot win a seat in Luapula,Northern and Muchinga!whoever will stand on UPND in 2016 in those provinces will be wasting their time and money!!just like PF cannot win in Southern apart from Livingstone.so dont cheat yourselves you guys in UPND that your party is gaining grounds there, never!!FELIX MUTATI,GBM, PATRICK MUCHELEKA WILL 100% LOSE THEIR SEATS IF THEY STAND ON UPND!!HH’s party can only win seats in Southern,North Western and Western.then in non bemba speaking areas of Central Province,UPND will win too.but votes from those few provinces wont win HH the presidence in 2016!!!THIS IS THE SAD NEWS FOR UPND!!!

  6. If you call others tribal then i am sorry why can not UPND get a seat from these provinces if you are a realy Democrat.
It is people like Simbao who kept this country at this level.Today he says because he is in government is going to deliver is this the first time he is in the government?
He was the Minister of Health,Works and Supply and so forth what did he do my country men?
If Northen,Muchinga and Luapula are happy with the current exchange rate, unemployment, high cost of living and moreover Luapula province is the poorest in Zambia, then continue as fish stocks have reduced. The victory of Simbao will not put food on your table but once the economy is vibrate you can generate your own money.Right now business are closing as no money in circulation.
Wake up tribe will not give u food

  7. U are right sudan,I wander y tribe z an isue when pf lose in upnd strong holds but its never an issue when upnd gets zeros in northern, luapula and muchinga. U pipo advocating for tribalism don’t think zambians are fools we know who is tribal bane don’t be stupid atase.

  8. I never knew some pipo can be this shallow minded, honestly how do you sing songs of praise for corrupt elements? Surely corruption is a cancer that has no cure in zambia. Many zambians still in th words of tony blair of a scar in the conscious of humanity.

  9. One would ask a question, the so called pf strong holds ..muchinga, northern and luapula are the poorest provinces. Does it mean even the intellectual side of this guys has serious deficiencies? Some one to answer me.we know dat southern n eastern are great provinces in zambia!!!! Undisputable. Nowander … .

  10. Simbao you should be ashamed as that proves your tribalism. Northern, Luapula, Muchinga no go area for UPND! Someone says Bemba speaking provinces? What does this mean? Please do not be excited with this victory. Watch 2016 and Babylon is falling. Remember that at the time you think you are strong, that is when you are vulnerable. Forces and undercurrents are realigning while you celebrate. Soon and very soon gates will be left open and the winning soldiers will walk in without a fight. The battle is the Lords and evil cannot continue to triumph over good.
