Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba People of Northern Province says inter-marriage has steered unity in diversity among various traditional leaders in the country.

The Paramount Chief who is Kanyanta Sosala, says traditional leaders from different background in the country are now interacting freely due to inter-marriage.

Paramount Chief Chitimukulu-Kanyanta Sosala was speaking in LUSAKA last night during the launch of a book entitled” Insoselo Namapinda” which contains Bemba Proverbs and sayings.

The book has been co- authored by Sampa Kangwa-Wilkie and Mulenga Kapwepwe.

Paramount Chief Chitimukulu-Kanyanta Sosala also urged Zambians to cherish customs and norms as they shape people’s behavior.

At the same function Commerce Deputy Minister Miles Sampa who sponsored the publication of the book called on Zambians from various backgrounds to document their proverbs.

Mr Sampa said this will ensure that the future generation does not lose its identity.

Meanwhile Tourism Permanent Stephen Mwansa says Zambians should embrace culture as it cuts across every spheres of life.

The launch of the ” Insoselo Namapinda Book” attracted Zambians from all walks of life including former Vice President Dr Guy Scott and his wife Charlotte.

  1. The level of care for culture by the young generations is less than nothing!

    Sad.

  2. Bemba language is very rich in idioms and proverbs. Thanks to authors of various Bemba books which have consistently preserved the upbuilding culture of idioms and proverbs.

    • Yes. My favourite saying is: “Icalo tacitalala ngo musunga.” It literally means the world can not get cold like porridge. To me people will continue complaining no matter which party is in government. Those of us old enough will know that we thought that all problems will disappear once KK was removed from power. We hated KK’s tribal balancing and advocated the appointment of people on merit but the problem with this scenario is that large tribes tend to benefit at the expense of small tribes whereas small tribes are assured of representation even if it is not on merit under tribal balancing. And so the world will continue debating on issues like this until Doom’s Day. This is why people who were complaining about the government wage are still complaining now that it has been…

  3. Sosala is at least 100 times smarter than Mpezeni and Zwelithini put together. The recent utterances by the Zulu chief confirms his IQ is too low to be a leader.

    • Where is this coming from? Why compare Mpezeni and Zwilitini with Sosala? What is in your greasy head? What is the basis of your comparison? Is it because Sosala was officiating at book signing? You are an A_hole!

  4. Wantanshi you have just stolen my thunder. I was about to say this can only come from a modern day monarch. Zwelithini cant say anything like this because he still thinks he has to buiild a Zulu nation that is feared. Chitimukulu has realised his kingdom has to embrace globalisation at all levels but still remain te bemba kingdom. The Zulu are archaic

  5. Words of wisdom from my chief. I need a copy of that book. LT any information on the publishers/ distribution?

  6. My favorite Bemba Proverbs.

    *Choswe cenjela icani takula mainsa.
    * Ba kolwe ba sekana ne fipato.
    *Ku mbali kwa tukwa mfumu.
