Patriotic Front (PF) members in Petauke constituency on Thursday demonstrated against the possible adoption of former Petauke lawmaker Dora Siliya. But Eastern PF Chairperson Atany Mwamba has condemned party members who participated in the demonstration.

Mr Mwamba condemned those that participated in the demonstrations saying that it was a clear indication that they were not loyal to President Edgar Lungu. He said that the position of the party in the province was that no one should be barred from contesting for the party adoption of the candidate for Petauke Central including former MP Dora Siliya.

Former MMD spokesperson Dora Siliya has applied to recontest the Petauke Central parliamentary seat on the Patriotic Front (PF) ticket. The only other applicant for the seat as a PF candidate so far is Elias Banda, popularly known as “Eli Boma”.Ms Siliya declined to comment on the matter but assured that she would issue a comprehensive statement by Saturday.
But PF chairperson for elections Emmanuel Mpakata confirmed that Ms Siliya and Mr Banda had lodged their applications.
“So far, these two are the only ones who have expressed interest to stand on our party ticket. Applications are open until May 14, 2015. Thereafter, lower organs will scrutinise the applicants then make recommendations to the Central Committee. Mr Banda is our faithful member but we have also welcomed Ms Siliya since the party needs new members to help it grow,” Mr Mpakata said in a telephone interview from Mungwi.
In 2013, PF adopted Mr Leonard Banda after he successfully petitioned Ms Siliya’s election.
Mr Mpakata said the PF-adopted candidate for Mulobezi, Patricia Mulasikwanda, and Obed Shumba for Malambo are likely to contest the seats.
“But the Central Committee might decide to stick to them or consider fresh adoptions. Chances for the PF to win the three seats previously held by opposition parties are very high since all factors on the ground seem to be in our favour and we are on course to penetrate opposition strongholds,” he said.
After the 2011 general elections, the Malambo and Mulobezi parliamentary seats were held by Maxwell Mwale (MMD) and Hastings Sililo of the United Party for National Development (UPND).
The Supreme Court last week upheld a High Court judgment to allow Ms Siliya, Mr Mwale and Mr Sililo to file nominations.

Meanwhile Eastern PF Chairperson Atany Mwamba warned that he would not entertain any indiscipline or activities promoting disunity and disloyalty to President Lungu and party secretary general Davies Chama.Mr Mwamba denied on-line media reports that he wants to ditch the ruling party and join the Rainbow Party which is led by Wynter Kabimba. He said that he was aware that some people who have been trying to bribe him into rising against Mr Lungu even before he became president wanted to tarnish his image.Mr Mwamba said that he would remain forever committed to President Lungu and warned to expose those behind the scheme to discredit the Head of State.

  1. All parties in zambia are becoming irrelevant to to the people’s needs. PF of MCS is very different from EL. These court ruling clearly indicate that our judiciary dance to the whims of the party on government – whichever it is

    • In Zambia such protests are condemned as they disrespect the hand that feeds Kaminamisa Lungu’s hungry, desperate cadres

  2. I’m in full support of Petauke PF members who are protesting against Dora. Imposing Dora on PF is insulting Sata’s legacy. The man for the seat of Petauke is Elias Banda. ELIBOMA for Petauke. Dora should stand on MMD, UPND or independent tickets. True PF members are alive to the insults that Dora has been raining on Sata in life and death. PF does not need new members who have been insulting the party and its founding father Sata. Chiletukalipa.

    • Ine uluse kuli ba Elias “Eli Boma” Banda for the writing is on the wall that ECL and Davies Chama have already decided that it will be Dora. For you “Eli Boma” you will be talked into respecting the president and party secretary general and probably be promised an appointment if not a monetary “gift.”

  3. All those who protested were sponsored by tribal HH-period!!they know that Dora Siliya is very popular there.PF must adopt Dora and ignore all those f00ls against her like they did in Senga Hill where Gile Yambayamba lost badly on tribal party UPND!!Please PF ignore those very few f00ls sponsored by satan1st HH!!madam Dora Siliya helped us win in January 2015,so why not adopt her now?

  4. I can also see a lot of tribalism. PF is being loved by Dora because the President is from the East. When Sata was President, Dora Rupiah Banda, Sakala of DailyNation all couldn’t touch PF with a 10 metre long pole. Suddenly it has become El dorado for Easterners

  5. zed politics..no interity…politics of the belly all the way..sad for the poor petauke voter.l hav my father to thank for educatin me so wel that l dont hav to deep on these useless selfish politicians to determine my destiny..

  6. This is what Mr Winter Kabimba feared when PF and UPND contemplated merging – loss of positions and privileges to incoming UPND members. Now the so-called true PF members are losing opportunities to incoming MMD members running away from being in opposition where you have to fend for yourself just like the majority of Zambians are doing at present. But we must all remember that the tax payers’ money govt dishes out to its party cadres is contributed by ALL Zambians in hard work and taxes. This money must be directed towards the welfare of ALL Zambians and NOT just supporters of the ruling party and its President. How i pray that one day a leader shall emerge to pass laws that will safeguard tax payers’ money and bring political hooliganism to an end. Zambia needs integrity in politics.

  7. Dora No, whats going on ? Eli Boma cabe. PF lets be one , put in our strong person. Dora can stand as indipendent to gage her popularity in Petauke. Spare us plse
