The Patriotic Front (PF) has said that it is uneducated for the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to allege that last year’s fuel price reductions was a political gimmick by the Patriotic Front (PF) Government.

In a statement released to the media today by Sunday Chanda, the vice Chairperson for Media and Publicity Committee, PF said that Mr Hichilema should know better that the the price of fuel in Zambia does not depend solely on the government’s wishes.

Below is the full statement

HAKAINDE HICHILEMA IS A HYPOCRITE– STATEMENT BY SUNDAY CHANDA, VICE CHAIRPERSON, MEDIA AND PUBLICITY COMMITTEE

Lusaka, Zambia, 13th May 2015 – It is uneducated for the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to allege that last year’s fuel price reductions was a political gimmick by the Patriotic Front (PF) Government. Mr. Hichilema, with his exposure, must know better that there is a recognised and automatic system of adjusting domestic fuel prices with the rise and fall of fuel prices in the international market. Mr. Hichilema must know better that as a non-oil producing country, the price of fuel in Zambia does not depend solely on the government’s wishes. Mr. Hichilema knows too well that Government reduced of fuel last year as international market prices went down. The PF Government ensured that with the fall in prices of fuel at the time, the relief was passed on to the people. That is what an ethical Government does. Unlike UPND, PF is not driven by expedience but it’s deep seated committed to the people of Zambia.

PF remains committed to creating a better life for all Zambians and the track record speaks for itself. President Lungu’s commitment to a transformative agenda speaks for itself. This is the exact opposite Zambians witnessed with Mr. Hichilema’s brutal and anti-people privatization exercise. PF therefore remains committed to ensuring that when prices drop, the benefits will once again be passed on to the people.

It therefore remains political bluffing for Mr. Hichilema to allege that the PF has failed. We are ready to publish once more and for Mr. Hichilema’s sake, the accomplishments President Lungu has scored in his first 100 days. Zambians know that while HH spent the first 100 days following his fourth consecutive loss under the tutelage of the infamous cartel, President Lungu spent his first 100 days making serious national decisions which have been commended by those with the gift of knowledge.

Lastly, it is Mr. Hichilema’s illusion to think he can become the next Michael Chilufya Sata just by jumping from one minibus to the next. Zambians know that such political stints by Mr. Hichilema are cosmetic because he remains a bourgeoisie and a friend and mouth-piece of capital. His remarks and desperate stints must therefore by the UPND leader must therefore be disregarded with the contempt it deserves by Zambians. He has no capacity to manipulate and lie to Zambians.

  1. Please Mr Sunday why can’t you also talk about the effects of the free falling of the kwacha on local fuel price? Who is managing the kwacha? Fuel is still cheap in non oil producing countries where leaders are serious. Talk of Botswana, Namibia, etc.

    • PF has just failed this country nothing else. Why should it always be us suffering all this as a result of selfish people. Zambians need to open their eyes enough is enough.

    • The PF media team is full of kretins, just a bunch of retards. Why are you so concerned about HH riding on minibuses? Is HH not a Zambian free associate with whoever he wants to. PF has failed to manage the economy. The free fall of the kwacha, the policy inconsistencies and a visionless and clueless leadership are to blame. Situation will get worse

    • Okay People in the diaspora , let’s be honest for once. When did we start see fuel prices going down? It was way before thanksgiving ( around October). But why did it take Zambia three to four months to effect the fuel price reduction, if we are all affected by the same international fuel prices? Putting my personal feeling about HH aside, this fuel reduction was indeed a political gimmick, even Sunday deep down knows so.

    • Mr Chanda speaks like is drunk with politics. Even a child can see what is happening in Zambia. Just say it is your turn this time. Otherwise things are not okay in Zambia. Maybe to the politicians they may seem okay. Even the development you are talking about of borrowed money, dont you think you are creating a big problem for the future generations who will have to pay the loans that they will have incurred not according to their wish?

    • What is it with this ***** Sunday who failed to run an NGO now he is exposing his immature and iresponsible statements.PF has no right man to answer to the calls of the public.Chipantepante.Usless government ever

    • It is not only the Kwacha falling, but all other currencies against the Dollar. It is worse with th Rand and Australian Dollar. It is not Lungu’s fought. What has he got to do with South African, Kenyan & Autralian currencies?

  2. I agree with HH on this one. We have not forgotten how unwilling pf were to reduce the fuel price. If it weren’t for elections, these pf chaps wud not have reduced fuel. They wud have displayed their usual arrogance as we know them. Chanda chilufa shut up!

  3. Mr Sunday Chanda, you can only reduce or increase the price of fuel based on the price of co-mingled stocks you’ve actually bought. Tell us from January to date how many tenders have you floated?

    • Mr. Sunday, you talking about International Market Price, Look at this:

“Yesterday, the ERB announced a marginal increase in fuel pump prices necessitated by the depreciation of the Kwacha against the United States dollars.”

Your comments has just exposed the confusion in the PF.

  4. I know HH enjoys manipulating facts. Which normal person would agree that PF has failed? He is practicing how to ride on a minibus after selling our mines. Let him visit more funeral houses and leave money with the bereaved families, it’s pay back time for the privatization proceeds. Let him tell us how he will stabilize fuel prices not the cheap politics. He now wants to imitate Sata but it looks so rehearsed sitting in that minibus.

    • You must have a different meaning of failure. Even the dead like Sata can see this failure in PF. HH ‘faka’ pressure! We need a better Zambia not this one where road tenders are given to ‘Chalumbe General Dealers!

    • IF HH IS THE ONE WHO SOLD THE MINES, WHO SOLD MANSA BATTERIES, ZAMBIA AIRWAYS, LENCO, UBZ, ROVER ZAMBIA AND MANY OTHER COMPANIES? CAN YOU WRITE DOWN THEIR NAMES SO THAT WE CAN KNOW THEM?

I HAVE FOLLOWED THIS AND YOU SEEM TO HAVE AN UNFORGIVING HEART. REMEMBER, YOU ARE ONLY HATING YOUR OWN SOUL THROUGH UNFORGIVENESS.

MY FRIEND, THE MINES ARE PRODUCING MORE THAN THEY WERE PRODUCING AT THAT TIME. STOP WASTING YOUR TIME OVER THIS ISSUE. IF YOU ARE ABLE, TELL GOVT TO COLLECT MORE MONEY FROM THE MINES. ALL MINES ARE OPERATIONAL AND MORE HAVE BEEN OPENED.

  5. Sunday Chanda no amount of your f00lishness from you will stop HH from walking the corridors of state house come 2016, it’s just a question of time. The same way PF was voted into government will be the same way will be kicked out. Even blind Bartimeus can see that this Kolopa.com PF group is a danger to our country

    • HH and his crooked team sold Luanshya mine for a song, shame on you. Pump price in the world over is almost the same at about $1.5 per liter.

  6. HH is an alarmist and he prays that President Lungu fails to deliver but he will be shocked. He actually wishes that Zambians suffer so that they rise against PF Government and President Lungu.

  7. when are these pf cadres going to be healed from their deseases sunday observe and research before you start voting no sense zambians cannot afford to be taken for a ride for good as if they are not learned. we , well meaning zambians are tired and fed up with you pfools who cant see anything . just try to shut up a while . please zambians we told you during campaigns , and all is coming to pass 2016 vote upnd for survival.

  8. I do not understand what my Uncle HH really wants. Some of us are fed up with his criticisms. How do you always criticize. Is he telling us that Lungu has not done anything good since becoming president of zambia. When will he ever say that Government has done something good? Is it because he knows everything? AIKONA MAN!!! Sunday Chanda, VIVA MY BROTHER!!! HH knows that he stands no chance in 2016 and I am personally happy with the way you react to these guys. He is lying that PF has failed, what standard is he using? Here on the Copperbelt, we are preparing a NEGA NEGA in 2016 and he will get a shock of his lifetime.

    • @Mweenda, warped thinking will not elevate your standing. If you follow Sunday Chanda’s waffling, you will not see reality. What is Chanda talking about in this statement – international fuel prices, is there any change? Privatization, does Chanda have fresh information? Connecting with the ordinary, does Chanda believe his own words? Why sin’ he saying anything on the free fall of the Kwacha?

Your type, Mweenda, run the risk of becoming dull despite your potential to be great! Kola landers are very wise people. Don’t dent their well earned status!

  9. It is only these few f00ls and idi0ts who are messing our country and have continued manipulating ignorant zambians. Everything has its time and time will tell come 2016. All these pf yappers will be caught an awaress. If you think that you are popular, you will kiss the dust….

  10. Mr Sunday Chanda, instead of always attacking those in opposition, be proactive by highlighting to the Zambian people the positives that PF under the capable leadership of HE EL is achieving.

    • @ Kas,

Please forgive him. He is trying to remember if there are any achievements there to be seen. HH is still there and “me to” has been already adopted by the “dear leader”. What else can he blab about? Medical tourism? Corruption? Nepotism? Bumper harvest? Cost of living? Strength of BoZ currency moping up? Secret loans?
Please, don’t be hard on him.

  11. Hats off to you brother Sunday Chanda!!TRIBAL HH WILL NEVER RULE ZAMBIA AS HE HAS NO NATIONAL SUPPORT!!IMITATING LATE SATA WONT WIN HIM VOTES IN 2016-NEVER!!HH IS NEVER ATTRACTIVE AND CANNOT DEVELOP MOTHER ZAMBIA!!president ECL has done a splendid job since 25/01/2015!!!only a satan1st HH cant see that.NOW EVEN VJ MWAANGA HAS JOINED IN PRAISING ECL WORKS!!!a man(HH) who sold our companies causing severe poverty cannot get our votes!!IFINTU NI LUNGU 2016!!!

    • YOU have always labelled HH as a Satanist, I do not know whether you know what you are talking about. HH is not a Satanist, if he was, you would all fall for him and he would not fail to win the elections, because he would sacrifice you in order to win and thus would not fail. He has not sacrificed anybody at all at all at all this is why he loses elections. Maybe he should be satanist and sacrifice you, then he would surely win the elections cos satanists do not fail. They always win, they are WINNERS.

  12. The fuel increase is Sata’s legacy. Lungu has inherited this. The government needs money and they will get it in any manner possible.

  13. HH lost last elections by 27,000 which translates that he lost just by a small constituency.

Wait Bwana.Don’t just yap yap as if you suffer from verbal tuba tuba

PF GOVT has no money to even buy this year’s poor harvest. They have miss managed themselves.

HH is gaining popular by the day

  14. This so called Sunday Chanda has said empty from his defense even those in favour and support of him bcos of belly shall suffer together with the majority Zambian due to poor economic policies . Shame, know that if you are enjoying with them today but one of your family members is suffering somewhere .

  15. I have 2 questions for my brothers and sisters in UPND;

    1. What is development?
    2. What is failure?

Please tailor your answers to the Zambian situation from 2011 to date. Please be honest and whoever answers these questions is a christian, he/she must be mindful of the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  16. We kicked out MMD due to corrupt practices and gross mismanagement of state resources. And what does Mr Lungu do; he goes back and brings the entire corrupt MMD to rule us again. The obvious must again happen to both PF and MMD. Bad move Mr Lungu.

  17. This thief Chanda only responds to HH and not to any other opposition leader. I think this is a great sign that HH is very inteligent and a big threat to pf.

    • I am sure you don’t even vote. Talking from the safety of a foreign country will not win Hell Hallucinator any votes.

  18. I WONDER WHY BLOGGERS HERE EVEN DO HAVE GUTS TO SUPPORT PF WITH THEIR STUPID VISIONLESS DECISONS THEY ARE MAKING.THIS GOVERNMENT HAS MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE TO PROSPER. HH IS RIGHT BY TELLING THESE RETARDS WHETHER YOU LIKE OR NOT.PF REDUCED FUEL DUE TO ELECTIONS.MOST ZAMBIANS WILL ACCEPT TO HAVE THEIR HEADS CHOPPED OFF AS LONG AS PF HAS SAID SO RUBBISH! COME NEXT YEAR YOU WILL REGRET PF

  19. HH AND MMEMBE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FUEL PRICE INCREASE.
LET US RECALL THE FOLLOWING CHAIN OF EVENTS:
    1. HH, MMEMBE AND THEIR KIND WERE SCREAMING FOR GOVERNMENT TO INCREASE MINERAL ROYALTY TAXES FOR A LONG TIME
    2. GOVT OBLIGED AND INCREASED MINERAL ROYALTY TAXES
    3. THE MINES WENT OUT TO FIX GOVT FOR DARING TO DO SO AND WITHHELD “THEIR DOLLARS” FROM THE FOREX MARKET
    4. THE RESULT WAS THE PLUMETTING KWACHA VALUE AGAINST THE DOLLAR WHICH HAS RESULTED IN HIGH FUEL PRICES: Q.E.D.!!!!!
THEREFORE HH AND MMEMBE SHOULD SHUT UP INCLUDING THE CHAMBER OF MINES

    • How anybody can exceed your level of 1mbecility?

I do pray to Almighty God that you are not part of the majority of Zambians.

    • Sure, but Mr. Chama has not answered to one simple question:

Was current increase percentage justifiable or not?

“Truth Hates”, Can you provide factual justification of increases?

Please do make comparison between “statutory driven increases” and “market driven increases” around the world before mentioning other countries and then compare the dates.

      Have nice day.

  20. Those of you saying PF has done well so far I am left wondering whether your heads are straight. There is nothing that PF has done which is worth being proud of. Everything that is being done is on borrowed money which for sure we will fail to pay back and still be called the Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC). No normal person would go around being happy about what is happening currently. Time is yet to come when we shall be proud of what we do as a country but I am sure I will be gone by then. So stop the wrong thinking.
