THE Patriotic Front (PF) has appealed to political parties participating in the Petauke Central, Malambo and Mulobezi parliamentary by-elections not to ferry cadres from Lusaka to go and campaign because this has potential of inciting violence.

PF secretary general Davies Chama said political parties must conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner and also desist from character assassination ahead of the June 30, parliamentary by-elections.

Mr Chama said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that political party members must adhere to peaceful campaign methods and desist from violent confrontations.

“We are appealing to all the political parties that will participate in the three parliamentary by-elections to ensure that they conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner.

“Let us repeat what happened in the Chawama and Senga Hill by-elections, where there was no violence before, during and after the elections. Let us also avoid transporting cadres from Lusaka to areas where there are by-elections because this has potential of promoting violence,” Mr Chama said.

He said it is important that peace prevails so that the electorate cast their votes in a free and fair atmosphere.

Mr Chama also said he is confident that the PF will win the three seats because of the massive support it is receiving from the people of Zambia.

The PF secretary general said he is happy that the people of Zambia have continued to support President Lungu in his quest to develop the country.

“We are happy as PF to note that the people of Zambia are now interested in development and not just politics.

“We are also happy that the people of Zambia have continued to give their support to President Lungu and his administration. This is helping him to develop all the parts of the country,” he said.

The PF has adopted former Petauke Central member of Parliament Dora Siliya to contest the seat, Patricia Mulasikwanda to contest the Mulobezi seat and Jack Shuma for Malambo.

After the 2011 general elections, the Malambo and Mulobezi parliamentary seats were held by Maxwell Mwale (MMD) and Hastings Sililo of the United Party for National Development, respectively.

  1. The sooner PF gets rid of this guy the better for him. His demeanor is that of a mentally deranged person. We all know the Opposition leader who is the main shareholder inn the Mukuba Mall that President Lungu recently opened in Kitwe, and Chama’s foul mouth says an opposition leader is scaring foreign investors

    • What is happening to the past paper? The cartel is no longer behind Summer kabimba but Katayali. These Guys doesn’t cease to amaze me.

    • All these by elections clearly show that PF was founded on corruption by corrupt men and women. PF ‘s appointed useless and corrupt judges nullified seats on the premise of electoral corruption, but again adopted the same corrupt candidates to stand. What sort of madness is controlling the entire PF leadership?

All the MPs who PF labelled as corrupt in 2011 have all been recruited by PF and are representing the PF.

When I say PF is a corrupt party by corrupt people, PF minions cry foul and yet the truth is right there in their face.

PF has stolen all the donor funding under the pretext of massive development which is just on paper or abandoned. Now it has embarked on taxing citizens mostly the poor villagers through crop levy and poor shanty dwellers through Rental tax…

  2. Kabimba was technically bad human being, but this Davies Chama of their is naturally horrible man. Sata wouldn’t be close to such a man.

  3. Let him address his party for it is the one fond of ferrying hooligans with pang’s to election zones.

  4. The world has by now come to learn that Zambians are incapable of choosing decency for rif-raf. Equally Zambians like suffering and pron to deception. Hence, elections in Zambia are riddled with corruption that in turn are overturned by corrupt judicial system creating by elections, re electing corrupt and convicted MPs.
What is our status in all this?, corrupt country run by corrupt leadership.
    Zambians indeed like suffering.

  5. So, what is wrong with the message he is preaching? Don’t you guys like peace? Imagine he said the negative of it, wouldn’t you be the ones yapping like kids in search of peace protesting fervently against him ati he is inciting violence? Muletasha bane …Sometime I feel people have stopped being objective on LT; they are always looking for means to get negative over other people’s sentiments! Grow up bamambala …this is Zambia for all?

  6. @ Shi Brenda

This is what I find disturbing as well. This is what they consider to be checks and balances. We in PF have been in opposition before and we understand what constitutes politics, our friends are very far from being in power . the rate at which they are moving can never win them an election.
