UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has appealed to electorates to vote for Peter Phiri in the June 30th Malambo parliamentary by-election.

Mr Hichilema who is in Mambwe District and drumming up support for UPND candidate said voting for Mr Phiri was the rightful choice.

Addressing a series of meetings in Malambo Constituency on Monday, Mr Hichilema said it was disheartening to see children been sent back from school because parents cannot afford to pay school fees.

He said even the source of income for most rural households such as sale of agriculture produce was completely neglected adding that farmers were being swindled by briefcase business people who were buying maize and cotton at the low prices.

He said there was urgent need for Government to move in and announce the 2015 floor price of maize.

Mr Hichilema who is accompanied by UPND provincial Paul Thole, former MMD provincial Chairperson Alexander Miti and former president Rupiah Banda’s son Andrew said Malambo constituency was suffering due to the leaders who do not understand the basic economic fundamentals and have resorted to massive borrowing in order to repay the earlier borrowed money.

“When they borrow, you don’t even see the money here as citizens. They share the money through inflated Government contracts in projecting instead of paying farmers on time,” he said.

He reminded people to give Mr Phiri a vote as a he was a local citizen of Mambwe.

The UPND leader said the people of Malambo, Petauke Central and Mulobezi constituencies have been orphaned for three years without parliamentary representation due to the Patriotic Front (PF)’s greediness for numbers in National Assembly.

He said the money being wasted for such bye-election should have been paid to the farmers who were taking their children to school.

And Mr Phiri promised to tackle the water problems stating that the people were drinking water from the same points with animals.

He also promised to address the human-animal conflict in the area which he said it was huge source of concern.

  1. Akainde is an elitist and there is no way he can care for the ordinary people.

He just cant connect with the grassroot

    • @Gen, most of those that you say are grassroots people are in the forefront stealing from the poor. HH is farmer, he knows what it means to put food on the table, and that is what is important. Not those aspiring to be MPs or Minister in order to drive a GX V8

  2. It looks like HH brain has run dry of ideas and the sooner they replace him the better. There are capable people that can take over from him e.g. PILATOn who is their latest product they are propping. Next year we shall witness the down swing of the UPND and the up swing for PF

  3. What HH said is a concern for most ordinary people. Just because the wizard Katele mentioned elitism doesn’t mean it’s true. HH is looking at the plight of farmers whose income depends largely on farming. Who doesn’t want to take his children to school. What language can you Zambians understand?

    • Iwe chills.
      hh’s formula can’t work kumawa.
I told you before, and I’m telling you now. Upnd won’t win, or is it… Can never win…

  4. Where will the UPND MP get money to develop the constituency ? We shall vote for the ruling party PF.It makes sense because they control the resources.

  5. We can not and we will never vote for hh, hakaivotele humwine. Eastern province is for pf and we shall give all pf candidates 100% votes. Wako ni wako!

  6. @ easterner,
Who told you that PF exist in Eastern province? Check PF ministers and deputies, parastatal heads, diplomats, clerks and senior government officials all are either Bembas or Luapula where Chama who insults other tribes is G/Sec ‘Kalemba mukalamba’ for PF. Its a Bemba Big issue and easterners have nothing to do with it. Easterner, research facts and get true realities.
Reminder:- Valentine Kayope PF (sleeping MP) once told parliement that Kabwe, Ndola and Kitwe Councils MUST have Bemba speaking Council Secretaries.

  7. IF LUNGU IS NOT SCARED OF LOSING THE 2016 POLLS WHY IS SKIRMING TO DELAY THE ELECTIONS TO 2020? THE FACT IS ,THE WIND OF CHANGE IS BLOWING AND BLOWING FAST ACROSS THE COUNNTY BECAUSE OF INCOMPETENCY AMONG OTHER REASONS AND THE MAN OF THE MOMENT IS HH.

  8. Mulobezi people please wake up busile! You have been sleeping since Fine Liboma. At least bo Hastings made enough noise to the extent that the Minister of Transport not only saw Mulobezi train but even jumped on it and drawing the attention of ZNBC. Had Hastings been allowed to continue as MP more will have been achieved. The only MP who tried was Late Subulwa.

  9. The idea of answering back at bloggers with insults is very backward and zwd. Why not just offer your opinion without demeaning others. Learn to debate responsibly and maturity not like the kids at zwd. What makes you think that your’s is the best opinion or comment. Remember that most online articles comes with twisted information and whatever comment or opinion you post is just as crap as any other duffed post you come across.
Be objective and always think from a neutral point of view or look from all angles of story before you post your best crap.

  10. For once I support Katele Kalumba for correctly identifying the inherent deficiencies of the pastoralist party, UPND, and it’s entire leadership.

  11. Naka jersey kakuchemenamo in’gombe ati ba president ataseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. The mainstay of EP is agriculture. HH understands ubulimi and should be given an opportunity to rule zambia. Cant trust Pf any more. Pf has caused more poverty to majority zambians and should be kicked out.
