The Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) has urged all show goers to be to be quality conscious and shun substandard products as they do their shopping during this year’s Agricultural and Commercial show which opens doors to the public on 30th July 2015 under the theme “Innovation beyond the golden jubilee”.
ZABS Head Public Relations and Marketing Hazel Zulu said“As a Bureau, we are encouraging consumers to take a few minutes of their time to read the product details on the packaging and look out for details of the origin of the product, the expiry date and ensure that it is written in the English language, which is the official language of communication and business in Zambia.”
During exhibitions and trade shows, various products are sold to consumers/show goers hence the need for show goers to be mindful of what they are buying and refuse to buy substandard products.
This will enable them to get value for their money and demand suppliers to produce quality products that meet the set Zambian standards.
“We are also urging manufacturers and retailers to put the health and safety of consumers first and ensure that the goods that they are putting on the market meets the required Zambian standards.
We urge all show goers to utilize this opportunity and visit our stand so that they can learn more about standardization and quality assurance.”
Useless sleeping ZABS.
Where are your officers when these fake products are being imported into the country. You have presence in the most notorious and porous border of Nakonde and yet your officers do nothing apart from eating NYAMA DOGO DOGO, ROASTED BANANAs and SOUP YA MBUZI in Tunduma.
