OFFICIAL STATEMENT

31ST JULY 2015

As UPND, are excited with the installation of His Royal Highness Henry Kanyanta Sosola as the Chitimukulu to the throne for the Bemba speaking people.

We join the entire country in celebrating this leadership milestone and wish the Mwine Lubemba God‘s blessing as he discharges his royal duties at such a critical moment in the history of our country. He takes over the throne at a time when the country needs guidance from traditional authorities of the the caliber of His Royal Highness who’s role as unifier cannot be questioned.

The UPND is proud of the all Zambians who joined us pressuring Government to ensure that the Mwine Lubemba was installed. Our now party Vice President Hon Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba had to sacrifice his ministerial position to ensure that this was brought to bear.

We note that it was only Hon. Mwamba from the entire senior leadership of both the government and the ruling Patriotic Front who took the lonely and dangerous path at great personal cost to vouch for the recognition of the Mwine Lubemba while some Ministers in the current Government sided with the persecution driven by the PF Government at the time led by then Home Affairs Minister Edgar Lungu. Lungu, deployed 500 police officers at the Mwine Lubemba‘s Palace to prevent him from executing his royal functions.

AS UPND, we shall continue to respect the important role our traditional leadership plays in uniting this country for the development of our people. Congratulations to the Bemba speaking people and His Royal Highness Chitimukulu.

  1. …Thanks Charles and the entire able leadership of UPND! We in the Northern Province were cheated and advised not to vote for UPND. But, at the rate at which things are moving, believe me the majority here feel betrayed by Jameson because he brought Kanitundila near. Most people are referring how Sata used to complain on Kanitundila and especially when our memories have been envoked by Pilato’s song. 2016- PF is going out and UPND under the leadership of HH is coming in!!

ABASH PF. Pathetic failures. Paya Farmer. Poor Finishers..ZWAAAA!!!!

  2. Very good thanks and wishes from upnd to the Bemba people for the achievement which was an uphill under pf ministry led by honorable Lungu then.

  3. Shame to ECL’s government. One wonders how he even got the courage to attend the ceremony!
    The circus is gaining momentum…
Anyway Pilato has already sumed it up “muleumfwako insoni”

  4. I thought it was the late president who was behind that.EL promised in the campaigns that he will recognize the chief and he has honored the promise. Therefore credit should be given to him.

  5. People of Zambia,am in Kasama today and hey GBM is in trouble!there is no UPND here.when we arrived around 16:30hrs we were greeted by a lot of PF cadres who were driving along kasama roads while others raised PF symbol and sung songs in favour of PF!!a lot of people were heard saying that we’ll teach GBM a big lesson here in Kasama!!dreamers in UPND will be embarrassed as GBM will be defeated paints down by PF here!!plus its over for Patrick Mucheleka as he cant retain his seat under UPND!!these two by elections will teach HH and his dreamers in UPND a big lesson and they will all conclude that PF is bembaland and bembaland is PF!!

    • PF cadres have already engaged in scare and intimidation tactics! What is happening is PF is already in campaign gear and is taunting rival party cadres to come out. We all know what is brewing in the PF camp they are yearning for blood! Hope the Kasama residents are watching the situation closely with keen interest.

  6. Most of those cadres you are talking about and seeing all over kasa may are from other parts of Zambia because of that ceremony if the Bemba let down GBM then I will lose respect for them he is the only minister who defended your chief and resigned his big post as defence minister.

  7. Again this is a constitutional issue. Because KK never wanted any other authority apart from himself he adopted the recognition clause in the colonial constitution.
But why should a chief who ascends to the throne “naturally” have to be recognized by an elected politician.
Even the title chief is demeaning. It is not even a royal term.
Mwine Lubemba, like Mwata, Mpezeni, Gawa Undi, etc are not chiefs but Kings. Forget the paramount term, its equally useless.
I have deliberately left out the Litunga because even our current constitution doesn’t call him a chief.

  8. GBM, sacrificed his ministrial position a lot to see to it and stand , for his uncle, the way he was bulldozed by chagwa’s resume, now you are smiling because of GBM.
    Ni forward fye ifwee

    • Why do you like saying things that are untrue but just sound good to your ears?? GBM himself said he quit his ministerial position because of Kabimba.
