Dora Siliya Wonders Why GBM and HH refused to stand in honour of the president at Chitimukulu installation

Chief Chitimukulu
Chief Chitimukulu

The curious case of two ‘rich men’.

“You cannot stop an idea whose time has come”, Victor Hugo.

The above quote sprang at me as I observed the proceedings of the coronation of the 38th Chitimukulu, Kanyata Manga in Luwingu recently. Many dignitaries were in attendance including his grace Archbishop Ignatius Chama and leaders of various opposition parties. Here is what struck me though.

When calling upon his Excellency, President Edgar Lungu to speak, the MC requested all to be upstanding. And all did stand including Edith Nawakwi of the FDD, Nevers Mumba of the MMD and various Diplomats.

But what I really found curious was that GBM, the newly appointed VP of the UPND, remained seated while his wife, Chama stood up. Mr Hakainde did not bother standing up either. My curiosity peaked. Does that mean experienced politicians like Nawakwi and former Republican Vice President Nevers Mumba, in the eyes of GBM and HH, are lesser opposition leaders than the two ‘rich men’?

The expected behaviour of any gentleman is that he will stand up whenever his lady does so, especially in public. It seemed almost funny seeing Ba GBM seated while Madam observed the traditional etiquette of such gatherings. Secondly, I recalled the simple teaching, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I wondered how HH can be so oblivious, if not as a Christian, of this simple political etiquette, observed by the poor and ordinary he wishes to lead. I wish to reiterate that it is common sense and not wealth that makes good leaders.

In our democracy, it is possible for anyone to become President of Zambia. But the citizens, the poor and ordinary, expect humility from leaders especially before they get into Statehouse. As a people, we hate boastfulness.

And so I watched the curious case of the two ‘rich men’ defy common decency at a very public gathering of the poor and ordinary they wish to lead. My conclusion was that they totally missed the very basic tenet of democracy, which is accepting the leadership in office until it is your turn. That does not mean you agree with them but one can disagree without any demeaning public display, much more so at that level of leadership.

[pullquote]I watched the curious case of the two ‘rich men’ defy common decency at a very public gathering of the poor and ordinary they wish to lead.[/pullquote]

Secondly, in a democracy, one must accept that the power to chose a President lies with the poor and ordinary, the very people GBM and HH were revealing their intolerance and disrespect to. Democratic politics, especially at Presidential level must be done with a certain decency to each other. If not, then the whole purpose of multiple party politics is lost.

In his book, The Wisdom of Crowds, James Surowiecki explores the idea that large groups of people are smarter than an elite few, no matter how brilliant the elite may think they are. The idea is very similar to Proverbs 11:4, “where there is no counsel, the People fall; but in the multitude of Counsellors there is safety.”

The ideas of democracy are here to stay. We would all do well as Politicians never to forget that unity, peace and respect for one another is the least Zambians expect.

Former German Chancellor, Willy Brandt put it well too when he said….”claims to absolutes threaten Man.” None of us is good enough until the people; the poor and ordinary, say so.

    • People like Dora Siliya are at the root of everything that is wrong with Zambia. When we say Zambia this, Zambia that, Zambia is full of this, full of that, Zambia is a failed state & the lot. The Zambia we speak of is Dora Siliya & the likes of her. We would be better off to rid ourselves of these rotten apples!

    • I like the design of the Chitimukulu’s seat.

As for GBM and HH standing or not, who cares? why should they be forced to ‘stand’? Dora, that standing means saluting, can you salute someone who in your own thinking has stolen one of your dukus or those chitenge wear that you put on?

    • dora siliya is a toad that needs water to survive. nomba i wonder what it is doing in the boat? tolokela mu menshi we chipuba iwe otherwise wakalasabaila ifi finee.
Dora eat a d!ck like your girlfriend iris kaingu. Do you really think we are this stupid to be manipulated by some stupid quotes and cheap politics nsanya iwe. Argue tangible things here, not whether we should stand or sit when ifintu naba lungusha!!!

    • GBM and HH are like little bitter b!tches and so is everyone else who is agreeing with their despicable behavior. Sata described HH to the T when he said he is an “under 5”. HH will never rule Zambia with such blatant display of disrespect. I wonder if HH has advisors because his behavior is unbecoming for a leader. I feel sorry for UPND cadres who have come out enmasse supporting this kind of $tupidity from their childish cheer leader! Am non-partisan by they way I just happen to believe in humility and etiquette!

    • Why are people attacking Dora for calling out HH and GBM. HH and GBM should have stayed home instead of showing their A$$es to the masses like that. I now understand why the poor people of Zambia keep rejecting this man HH over and over again. He has no common sense. Heky Heky No for the hundredth time in 2016. No one needs an puffed up arrogant rich man for a leader. Ask Mitt Romney!

    • From this behavior, HH is telling the people who voted for the Zambian president to go “F” themselves. Ironically, he needs votes from the same people he is berating. If you think Lungu was humiliated by your disrespect, then you sir are a M0R0N. You humiliated and disrespected the same people you are begging to take you to Plot 1. Come 2016, those same poor, uneducated kaponyas and thieves will teach you a lesson in humility!

    • Dora is just doing what these guys are good at. Distracting us from real issues. The next few days will be spent on this trivial issue. Next will be Sunday Chanda, then Kennedy Kamba & so on while our economy is sinking deeper.
She brings out one important thing though when she says “in a democracy the power to choose a president lies with the poor & ordinary”.
They will keep us poor & ordinary so they can manipulate our poverty to vote for them.
There lie there hate for a rich & informed citizenry.

  1. One thing for sure and perhaps no one can tka that away from them is that ..well they are rich, why should they follow everybody’s else rules. The rich make their own rules and follow them.

The other thing is they are not are not leaders with power earned through respect, but they are leaders with power earned through wealth.

It is harder for a rich man to rule a country than for a Southern Province Cow or a Northern Province Crocodile to go through an eye of a needle. But with God, everything is possible.

    • Your envy of other people’s wealth keeps you poor. That’s why you continue voting for people who spread their poverty around. You are willing to suffer more power cuts, higher debt, higher food prices, unfinished projects, corruption etc all because you are envious of the people who can change your poverty ridden life for the better!

    • @MMD Chief Bootlicker,

Your memory is failing you, be honest and tell us how your Edgar Lungu earned his power, was it not through corrupt means, thuggery and violence?
And again you are boiling with envy over the Tongas and their livestock yet daily you feed on steaks from SP instead of your rats and caterpillars. Finally, please stop bringing God’s name in your nonsense, it’s blasphemy!

    • @ 4.2 – Buckteeth Lungu.
Your comment is so spot on!!
It appears Zambian’s are allergic to Good governance, wealth creation, development, & well being.
I have NEVER seen a nation so “Dumb & Blind” they can clearly see ROT setting into their communities, know the perpetrators, but keep on cheer-leading the same useless leaders driving them down a cliff to oblivion.
On that opportunist Siliya, Dont even get me started! She sang the song of P.F being a “Dangerous Homosexual loving Party”, while she was still selling her body to M.M.D. How has Pr02titute Siliya become Holier than thou, sniping @ fellow politicians? We all know its just for her Belly.
Sad Part of this Grim story is Zambian’s lack analytical reasoning, & will keep this Siliya leech in a job. SHAME!

  2. Dora don’t make yourself a hero from nothing. You stole and made Zambians lose billions of Kwacha through your corrupt deals whilst as a Minister. What moral right do you have to claim you love the poor Zambian whom you stole from.
You failed as a Wife coz of urinating on the bed, you were bonking RB and can you tell us who is the father of the child you are carrying in your stomach now.
Just stup up and leave our GBM alone, what has he done to you. You insulted Sata like a child with no respect. The basics things we are taught as children and in the bible respect your elders. Dont quote from books things you dont respect yourself.
Who doesn’t know that at UNZA you passed coz of your backside.

  3. Dora, those are trivial issues you are raising. Let your Govt attend to serious issues like the depreciation of the kwacha, loadshedding, fuel increases, Domestic and External debts, CBU Closures, unemployment poor economy not politicking all the time.
You have not even apologizing for the middle finger you raised in parliament, does it mean insulting your fellow parliamentarian is a sign of humility.

  4. Ba Dora Siliya you are again dwelling on trivialities and unfortunately this is what makes news in Zambia today. so how does HH and GBM’s insolence affect me and the Zambians who are daily getting poorer by the day. i dont support their actions (even though we know why they didnt stand – Nawakwi and Nevers lost to spoilt votes but HH won the elections – no evidence apparently) so thats why he didnt stand. standing up would have meant endorsing illegalities (i am thinking on behalf of HH, and as for GBM also, he knows that EL ‘won’ the PF presidency by voting with pangas).

  5. If the entire US Congress, Senate and all richest men in the US like Tramp, the avowed critic of Obama could stand up whenever Obama takes the floor, what do these “2 rich f00ls’ think they are?

The two rich f00ls missed an opportunity to show off their wealth to the great multitude.

Bob Marley once said, “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively”

    • Its because they respect Obama. I guess you know why HH and GBM did not standup

There comes a time when some brave men have to take a moral stand on issues. Lungu has made the presidency so cheap its not worth standing up

    • The do not respect Obama ba Engineer imwe – they respect the tenets of democracy. Your two rich fulls are demonstrating absence of leadership qualities. You do not disrespect a president in public like that even one who took power by force. May the electorate take note. Huh!! UPND is really a party of rich arrogant, and very dull leadership – I pity the members. Like Dora or not, facts are just that – facts!!

  6. Dora! You don’t have any moral right to educate others on etiquette! Are you not the one who used to insult late Sata at every turn, somebody who was old enough to be your father and you call that humility! You raised a middle in parliament in front of everyone and cameras and today just because the drunkard has given you a job you want to be seen as an angel! What hypocrisy! Your teenage son was found with billions in his account, have you explained where that money came from! Someone who lives in a glass house should not throw stones!

  7. Fipuba kabili, are you just learning or knowing today? If the so called “rich and wealthy” men in UPND were so, can they please show the poor Zambians their real investments in this country to help alleviate poverty?

A real rich man, all the way from Nigeria, Mr. Dangote, humble and respectful has come and invested heavily in our country and our poor youths have found employment. This is what we call leadership.
Money can buy you diamond and gold rings but not wisdom and leadership.
To those that are still in doubt, GBM and HH , have always insulted you that you are poor whilst they don’t have power, what will they call you in the UNLIKE EVENT that they became your government?

I would rather eat with poor President Lungu and PF and be happy than being miserable with the rich…

    • This is sooo sick! Dora farts and all rank-and-file blog their arses out;
Your drunkard president did not come out of stupor when Dangote last visited State House, that rendezvous was CANCELLED, the same alcoholic manic depressive with drug-induced visionlessness and brainlessness allows RB to get at Mahtani by colluding with those Mafiosi at Zambezi Portland…c’mon, gerautehea ! Struth!

  8. She insulted Sata, now she is talking about respect. Any other person but Dora “naitundila” Siliya should talk about etiquette.

    • Dora must be told to shut up when she has nothing sensible to talk about. We all know she is looking for a job and soon she will get it, what with RB as the senior PF president.
Dora you should be last person to lecture anyone on etiquette. You used to undress your own husband on an anthill at public meetings and today you think you are too smart. Shame on you!

  9. …whenever u are looking for a fault in someone you will definitely find if…just constantly keep your blinkless eyes on your ‘target’…I’m sure that’s what Dora did thru out the ceremony….thank God whatever the ‘the two rich men’ did was not a criminal offence…
…anyway let me not dwell on this pet observation..I’m from da east…my serious observation is on the amateurish, ununiformed, improper, not so proportionally artistic impression of a crocodile..how can such a big monster have such tiny limbs..??… this reminds me of the statutes in front of Examination Council of Zambia which were condemned left, right and centre..I know Bembas are naturally not good at sculptural art…but they could have done better to ask professionals especially from the east to do a better…

  10. @chinchi wababili! Don’t just talk out of hatred! You are the people extending the suffering of majority Zambians because out of jealousy you vote out the right people and choose riff ruffs! Talking about wealth, do you know how much your Edgar is worth just in six months, and he comes to you saying ‘us the poor people care for each other’ and you believe him. The bustard is now damn rich, richer than GBM! Ati ‘ I will vote for a poor person(Lungu) like myself’! You dull gullible f00l!

  11. Doar Siliti, you are a biiitchh!! Just shut up, you bed wetter.

We need change in 2016 and this change is coming via HH & GBM on the platform of the UPND.

People are fed up with Panga Family!!!

Will shall arrest you again for the radar deal, kolwe iwe!!!

Explain the finger you raied on Parley! Explain the homosexuality you told people of Petauke in 2011 about Sata.

That is why Kambwili doesn’t want you…mwana wa hule ni hule kumene

    • Its laughable, HH and GBM forming Government? NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, and we mean NEVEEEEEER! It’s practically NOT possible why? Because a frog cannot kill a cobra even in its sleep, NO! This is what HH and GBM are to PF, the are just frogs ready to be swollen by the mighty King Cobra or Black Mamba.

  12. In Bemba we say umuchinshi waba mukanwa. Ukukana iminina te musalula, lelo ukutukana ngafilya waletuka abayashi ba Sata kukana kwata umuchinshi.

Dora, you think we have forgotten what you did to the late President SATA. Please leave HH & GBM alone.

    • Ba Mwape – so because Dora disrespected some people, it then becomes okay for your two buffoons to disrespect the president. Mr. Sata insulted everybody in his way – just to remind you.

  13. If you aspire to lead, lead by example because people will respect you one day when it is your turn to receive allegiance. It is biblical to give allegiance to authorities.

  14. Well meaning Zambians cannot vote for a person who does not promote or recognise tradition. The bible teaches us to respect our leaders. The behaviour of those two is like a situation where u have a parent u consider irresponsible, would u not acknowledge and respect him? Such small things are the ones which have made HH a perpetual loser. Us villagers take note of such behaviours and interpret it otherwise.
Suppose to that ceremony was at Chief Mukuni’s Palace, would he, HH remain seated? Bembas, wake up from slumber and realise that he, HH, will not respect u and ur traditions.

    • That was childish for the two rich men . It means they do not even honour the word of God . All those supporting their behaviour are questionable .

  15. It is not in the constitution to compel everyone to stand. Even in the congress of US, not everyone stands when then President arrives or is making a point. There are better issues to talk about dora; or maybe wako ni wako you r canvassing a job from lungu.

  16. [“You cannot stop an idea whose time has come”, Victor Hugo.
The above quote sprang at me as I observed the proceedings of the coronation of the 38th Chitimukulu, Kanyata Manga in Luwingu recently. …]

Was the coronation of Chitimukulu really held in Luwingu?

  17. Dora Siliya may be a lot of things to a lot of people. It is unfortunate that when we comment on an article,we fail to do so by making the article writer the subject instead of the article.Siliya’s article is reasonable. That is what she observed and I too, would find the action of GBM and HH out of the ordinary,in that kind of setting,UNLESS they were PROTESTING,but then,I guess,HH has been in a protesting posture from the first time he lost an election!!!!
So I humbly believe we ought to respect our fellow bloggers opinions and not just insult. We will be a better people when we contribute based on content and substance of the articles before us.

  18. Do not miss her point discuss the issues raised my observation the two leaders lacked humility, respect for our leaders and,Remember you reap what you sow if you are deafted do not say the elections were rigged.Though I am far away from my country I value the leadership of our President HE Lungu

  19. ?Face the fact you have a point.. they are loughing at Dora but they are doing waise than she has done… can anything good come out of cadres for bad rich pride masters.

  20. “Secondly, in a democracy”
there is your answer, the two guys exercised there democratic rights that why GBM had no issue with his wife standing because she also exercised her rights. This is trivial.
If HH becomes president and you don’t stand for him at such occasion, it will be within your democratic right.

  21. Ndiye bu solola bwamene ubo, a function of that magnitude, she is busy checking out other people’s husbands, the main man at that function was chitimukulu, not chagwa, HH and GBM. With leaders who can’t concentrate on issues at hand i now see why the
economy is upside, m sure when in Parliament that’s her specialty checking out whose the best dressed dude, how fat the walet is between mp x and mp x,.

  22. This is how trivial Zambian politicians have become. Zambia is faced with many serious economic and social problems that Lungu should be taken to task for but they would rather raise dust about who stood and who didn’t at a traditional ceremony as if that will solve our current problems. Lungu is the same man who only yesterday sent hundreds of troops at tax payers money to stop the installation of Chitimukulu and suddenly its like he never did and no one seems to remember. HH and GBM were right to demonstrate their displeasure in what ever manner because they stood by Chitimukulu when Lungu and his PF were persecuting him. This is the spirit that Zambians should emulate and protest strongly whenever political leaders take advantage of the poor and defenceless citizens.

  23. Not standing up for president in public arena is nothing compared to raising a middle finger to say F.U.C.K you all in parliament. What the hell are you trying to say Dora?

  24. ALL THOSE WHO HATE EDGAR DO SO BECAUSE OF HIS HUMILITY. THIS IN FACT IS WHAT WON HIM THE PRESIDENCY SO EASILY WHEN EVERY ONE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO LOSE DUE TO THE CONFUSION THAT WAS CREATED BY ***** GUY. ANY ONE OR TWO WHO LACK HUMILITY WILL NEVER SEE THE INSIDE OF NKWAZI HOUSE. KK WAS HUMBLE, CHILUBA WAS CLEVER ENTERTAINING AS WELL AS HUMBLE. MWANAWASA WAS HONESTY , NOT VERY FRIENDLY BUT OF COURSE HUMBLE WHILE RUPIA WAS PLAYFUL GENEROUS AND HUMBLE. SATA WAS ROUGH, STRAIGHT FOWARD BUT HUMBLE SO IS EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU. THOSE WHO WORSHIP THEIR RICHES, SORRY BAITAYA.

  25. Dora,
Even when you want to get f*ucked am sure you agree with yourself…not so!
In short my dear, respect is earned, you dont force.

    • Common sense you are senseless I wonder what point you trying to raise . It’s you people that will make your rich leaders lose next year . No one likes people that are boastful and not humble . How do you display such hatred for someone like that . That is evil behaviour.

  26. Zambians, lets be real its not just about being petty let our leaders learn to be humble. Unloving behavior is not normal for an aspiring leader. The problem with some leaders are egocentric, they have no respect for humanity. The desire to rule has obsessed their minds and I do not think they wish is to serve the people but to fulfill their hidden agenda.
I have noted others have opposing views to the government but they still respect the president when its time to attend national events.
I foresee, what others desires most plot one may elude they if they continue with disgraceful behavior.

I just wish to remind you bloggers that for all your insults you post on the sites, you shall one day pay and answerable to GOD. Ecclesiastes 12vs 13-14

  27. What do you expect, from the rich.nichoncho.now imagine if we put them in power.this is the problem with Zambian politics we don’t differ on principle our differences are more personal than principle.GBM & under five see ECL in the presidency instead of the presidency in ECL.may the rich continue in the opposition, may they never see state house

  28. I don’t really like Dora Siliya but I think she is right on this one. If a person is aspiring for leadership they have to respect the leadership which is in place.

    • Why bother about other people? Couldn’t Dora mind her own business? What was her interest in the two people?

  29. If Dora has nothing to do, her middle finger can help her as she used it! I gues Kambwili she was pointing to has a bigger one and can help her settle!

  30. You people, do you have to parrot for your leaders even when they are not right in their behaviour? For once why don’t you give your leaders some wise counsel and thus give them a chance to be President one day? HH for one really needs some counsel. The fact that soutern province gives him 99% of their vote does not do well for his image. What do you think other provinces think about that? Tribalism of course. And that is what HH has been grappling with unsuccessfully ever since he took over from our beloved Andy. The Presidency is so near and yet too far for HH. The behavoiur noted by Dora does not help him at all, given his other tribal baggage. Please help him, you his cadres!

  31. Too much power corrupts, but again too much riches will never make you get to heaven. What does this mean? it means both two of them will meet again in hell for both cases are sins. There is nobody better than the other. The ALMIGHTY however tolerates both for his intetion is to forgive them so that with time they realise that they are in wrong paths. As for Siliya, I wonder why she bothers, since she has been a drifter all these years…. she is not principled, period. She enjoys worldly pleasures,a nd this has got its on repercations. Thus to say , she must remove the log in her eyse first before pointing a fingure to the two rich guys. IT COULD BE THAT SHE IS SFFERING FROM KADUKA.

  32. Dora you should think and behave your self before you talk! If HH and GBM didn’t stand for your PF/MMD president it should not be an issue to divert the public from load shedding, poor economy, and all the misery ECL has caused on the Zambian people. You are a woman with a lot of bad stories so you just keep quiet.

  33. HH like what I have been saying is not a presidential material and will never be our president. Just ignore him. For a long time people have tried to put him in power but the guy keeps failing them because he is not a leader . leadership and wisdom shouldn’t be mixed with richness and fame. If we take away wealth from hh what does he become. A simple chimbwi.

  34. This article is baseless.
How does the writer know that the two men were Unwell.
It’s a very irrational thinking and conclusion!
