MINISTER of Health Dr. Joseph Kasonde

Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde has described the contribution that the United Kingdom has made to the Health Sector IN Zambia as immense.

Dr Kasonde said the United Kingdom and Zambia share a rich history dating way back which has resulted in the development of a unique relationship where the two countries are free to share ideas on many issues of common interest.

The minister was speaking to journalists after he held a closed door meeting with a Parliamentary delegation from the United Kingdom which has been in the country touring various health facilities at the community level.

Dr. Kasonde said among the issues discussed with the visiting UK Parliamentarians is the commitment of nurses in health centers despite having a huge work load.

He said the parliamentarians have been assured that government is working on a plan which will address job satisfaction among health workers across the country.

He added that the visitors were impressed with the cleanliness they found in rural health centers but that they were however concerned about the long distances that the patients have to cover in order to reach nearest health centers.

Dr. Kasonde said in this regard, both parties shared a common support through the expansion of health institutions such as upgrading of health posts to reduce long distances for the patients.

He further said that the UK Parliamentarians were also concerned about sustainability of all the health activities which include health infrastructure development.

Dr. Kasonde said government is committed to working hard to sustain its projects although it still relies on the partnership with UK and other partners to sustain such projects.

He said the partnership with the UK has been good in the last 50 years and was optimistic that the working ties would be strengthened even further as the two countries explore different roles to play in enhancing the welfare of the people in various sectors of their countries including health.

  1. Dr.Kasonde is too old to be Health Minister, period! His Deputy , Dr Chilufya would make a better Minister. Senility has set in and at almost 80years, that is normal

  2. Obatala Jemasoni Lungu Shedding,

Those are the thoughts of a HE-GOAT.

Try those of at least a SHE GOAT…..

  3. As the NHS is teeming with ‘third world’ staff, the Parliamentarians will be back patting for weeks instead of fearing NHS questions back home. Funny as hell. Closed doors indeed. Hashtag – whatdoyoureallywantfromZed
