Chipolopolo striker Emmanuel Mayuka on Friday night marked his French Ligue 2 debut with a goal as his side Metz defeated Laval 1-0 away at Stade Francis le Basser.

Mayuka scored the crucial goal just three minutes after coming off the substitute bench.

The former Southampton and Kabwe Warriors striker was only introduced in the game after 70 minute.

Mayuka, 24, joined Metz on the deadline of the 2015 summer transfer window for an undisclosed fee from English Premiership club
Southampton.

He was not picked Zambia‘s 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier away to Kenya which Chipolopolo won 2-1 at Nyoyo Stadium in Nairobi.

    • I think he already proved that league 2 is nothing for him, he will be scoring like crazy. He should score in each match to torment Jay Jay and Southampton.

  1. Am happy for him. Mayuka still has the potential to make it big. My only hope is that next time he will start so that he can score more goals and may be in future he could join a bigger and better Club.
    Good luck!

  2. Mayuka was unfortunate to play under Racists Managers at Southampton especially Geraman chap Koeman who didnt want the boy to play and prove himself!!
I am sure and have no doubt that this Yuka will prove his foo.lish critics like Jay Jay and the known racist Ronald Koeman at Southampton wrong!!

    • Firstly, Koeman is Dutch and not German. Coming to the issue, I don’t think there was anything racial about benching Mayuka. The boy has performed below par for a long time even for the Zambian National team

    • Mayuka has to work on his game, He doesn’t know how to position himself in the 18 zone, he has potential but he has to find someone to help him learn how a striker needs positioning. He can actually watch Mbesuma and he would learn a great deal.

I watched a few games Mayuka played at Ston, his biggest problem was positioning. Imagine Mayuka would go trying to take a corner kick as a number 9. Then who would score?

    • In addition, Mayuka failed to compete for a starting place against a guy called Wanyama, a fellow black man from Kenya. Mayuka is our boy yes, but we have to admit that he didn’t make the cut at Southampton. He did not impress in training, that’s why he wasn’t picked for the matches.

  3. Ronald Koeman is not Germany but dutch. Infact Ronald was patient with Mayuka compared to the argentine Mauricio Pochetino.
As for Mayuka he needs to rebuild. I hope Chicken George doesn’t rush him to the national team. By mid season, I’m sure, he would have recovered his confidence & he will be at his best again. Best of luck, Mayuka.

  4. ….I still feel that was just a fluke of a goal….the boy has grown stiff legs ….too slow for a deadly striker….lets give him ten games first

  5. Comment:i thinks emma mayuka will get back to his best if he can get the game time.Legue 2 not that bad to make headlines.
Lets just give the support he need,no matter what he does he is still our player
