Zanaco & Power approach cross roads in league race

Zanaco and Power Dynamos battle to stay relevant in the race for the 2015 FAZ Super Division title this weekend in their respective league engagements.

Second placed Zanaco visit Red Arrows to play a Lusaka derby at Nkoloma Stadium.

Across town at Edwin Emboela Stadium, third placed Power Dynamos make the trip from Kitwe to play Nkwazi.

Both Zanaco and Power must win this weekend to enhance their chances of reaching the 65-point threshold that Zesco will reach in just three games to probably clinch the 2015 title with another three games to spare.

Zanaco have 49 points, seven behind Zesco who only play on Sunday when they visit Nchanga Rangers in Chingola.

The Bankers will be hoping to complete back-to-back wins over 7th placed Arrows whom they beat 2-0 in the first leg at Sunset Stadium last June.

Meanwhile, Power must win this weekend or will be relegated to chasing the number two place with Zanaco.

With 47 points heading into their date at Nkwazi, a draw away may not be enough for them to catch Zesco with five games left after this weekends week 25 fixtures.

Power head into the match without a victory in their last three competitive games since beating Nkana 2-1 on August 28.

That derby hangover triumph has seen Power pick up two successive league draws including a Barclays Cup quarterfinal elimination last Saturday to Green Buffaloes on post-match penalties.

And so Power coach Tennant Chilumba knows this weekends match is a do-or-die affair for him.
