Randy pastor convicted of rape

A Kitwe Magistrate’s Court has committed a pastor to the High Court for sentencing after convicting him of raping a 22-year-old woman he had promised to pray for.
Senior resident magistrate Daniel Musonda yesterday found Revival for all Nations Church pastor James Thewo, 28, of house number 31 Congo Way in Kitwe’s Riverside residential area, guilty of rape.
The court was convinced that on June 1, 2015, Thewo had unlawful carnal knowledge of the woman without her consent.
In his judgement, magistrate Musonda said there was overwhelming evidence from the State witnesses that the sexual intercourse between the ‘man of God’ and the named woman was not consensual.
“I am satisfied that the sexual intercourse was not consensual. I have more than enough evidence from independent witnesses to support the complainant’s testimony.
“The prosecution has, therefore, managed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, and I find the accused guilty of rape, and I convict him accordingly,” Mr Musonda said.
He told Thewo the offence carries a minimum sentence of 15 years, which is beyond the jurisdiction of a subordinate court.
During trial, the woman testified that on the material day, she was attending interdenominational prayers and that the accused was the one conducting the prayers.
She narrated that after the prayers ended, Thewo got her phone and saved his phone number and asked her to call him as he had a vision from God about her.
“The following day around 05:00 hours, Thewo called me saying he had another vision about me and that I should go to his house where he could tell me in the presence of other church members about the vision he had about me,” she said.
The victim told the court that she went to the pastor’s house but did not find any other church member apart from him.
“I waited for other members but they never came. The pastor then locked the door and twisted my hand and tore the pants and cycling trunks I was wearing and had sex with me,” she said.
The court heard that after the rape ordeal, Thewo got a knife and cafemol (a pain killer) and threatened to kill the woman if she refused taking it.

  1. Hang this pervert! Also people of Zambia, God does not give anyone visions on your behalf. Use the common sense God gave you to make your own life’s decisions.

    • Nubian, I concur. All the blame here is on the filthy rapist. Although it would be nice if people were not so stupíd and gullible to get so easily conned by crooks like this fake pastor.

    • It’s utter ldiocy for a 22 year old woman to want to rely on other humans to try and access God. Every human is free to approach God without any middlemen. Only through Jesus Christ – and NO OTHER ordinary men. People should move away from having someone read and translate the Bible for them. Everyone has equal opportunity before God to know him and is acceptable. There’s no crap like Man of God!

  2. This is the problem with pentencostal believers: they do not study the word of God and believe every lie from their pastors. Church is a place to meet for religious activities and not unmarried pastor’s home. How many Pentecostal pastors are going to be convicted of rape? Others take over female members from their husbands. Study the word of God and be saved from randy pastors. There are more Bibles now but Zambians know the Bible less!

  3. Diabolical pervert!

Put him away from society. He is cruel.

Visions and revelations are not dispensed in private places. This chap is an experienced prostitute. What is the pain killer for?

  4. …the last part of the story is abit weird…anyway, a woman’s word usually takes an upper hand in such circumstances………..
….honestly speaking…if a woman does not want to have sex with a man…..there is no-way a 28yr old man would forcefully ‘penetrate’ on a 22yr old lady one on one…unless he has a gun onto her head or a knife onto her throat…not just by twisting her arm…no…we are told the knife was only produced after the act…anyway, which ever way one may look at it, the so called pastor deserves to be locked up and throw the key in the ocean….

  5. I would lock up this pastor not for this rape but for being a con pastor using the name of the Lord to call women to his home at 05:00hrs. Having said that, if the woman had been given money, she would not have reported anything
