President Edgar Lungu says Late President Michael Sata will forever be remembered as an architect of development.

Mr. Lungu said during Mr. Sata’s three year tenure as republican president, the country recorded unprecedented massive development particularly in rural areas.

President Lungu said the creation of new districts, construction of roads among other infrastructures embarked on by the late Mr. Sata has greatly contributed to improved service delivery.

The Head of State said the best way to honour the late Mr. Sata is by following his legacy of ensuring that the livelihoods of the vulnerable people in the country is uplifted.

Mr. Lungu said this at the memorial service in honour of the late president Michael Sata at Saint Ignatius Parish in Lusaka.

And Mr. Lungu said Mr. Sata was an inspirational leader who embraced values that were common to every ordinary citizen of this country.

Mr. Lungu said he will forever remain indebted to the late Mr. Sata for inspiring him with his ability of providing political character that enabled every citizen of this country to actively participate in national affairs.

And speaking on behalf of the Sata family, former vice president Dr. Guy Scott said the late Mr. Sata brought a new dimension to the country’s political arena.

Dr. Scott said Mr. Sata was a selfless politician who spoke courageously for the majority poor in the country.

The former Vice President further said Mr Sata’s capability and courageousness saw him rise to serving in different government portfolios until his death as Head of State.

And in his homily, Fr. Charles Chilinda called on all Zambians to emulate Mr. Sata’s life of loving one another.
Fr. Chilinda urged politicians to put aside all personal differences and aim at tackling national issues that will improve the country’s economy for the betterment of all Zambians.

He said the needs of the people of Zambia are enormous hence the need to priorities national issues that will benefit the poor in society.

Fr. Chilinda also described the late Mr. Sata as a loving family man whose delicate sense of charity influenced many people in the country.

Fourth republican President Rupiah Banda, former first lady Maureen Mwanawasa, Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Patrick Matibini were also present during the memorial church service.

United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema, Fourth Revolution Party president Erick Chanda, Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) president Edwin Sakala and All Peoples Party President Mike Mulongoti were among opposition political leaders present at the memorial church service.

    • No the DEVELOPMENT is there for everybody to see.

      No water in Lusaka

      Zesco loadshedding

      Collapsing Kwacha

      Rampant CORRUPTION

      NO MONEY IN THE POCKET

      NO CONSTITUTION

And Zambia owing so much kaloba that Zambians are poorer now than they ever were before in the whole history of the country. This is how Sata “developed” the Nation.

    • Ka Lungu, just be glad that without his death you would not be flying around the world and threatening everybody that you will fall on them like a ton of bricks.

    • Today HH and ka Lungu have reconciled! Am just wondering if they are now friends, which I doubt,, because I didnt see HH on our chakolwa table,,, ka Lungu says and I quote ” a friend is a person you drink with” end of quote

    • The govt offices have been full of research paper on this and that . Year after year there were seminars in Siavonga to discuss this and that development agenda. There has been a blue print on that and this but no action. Too much red tape and no action. Projects could not take off because there is no money or was not budgeted for. In the end the country continued to degenerate. IT TOOK THE COURAGE OF SATA TO PUT ALL THESE TALK INTO REALITY AND ACTION. Today we are seeing this development taking place. YES TODAY WE ARE SUFFERING but we all know the benefits will come. WELDONE MICHEAL!

    • ba Ndobo mudala,
you say and I quote: “ka Lungu says and I quote ” a friend is a person you drink with” end of quote” END QUOTE.

I never saw that quote before but if you had wrote that line and asked me to guess who might have possibly uttered those tavern words out of the 7,377,027,152 people alive today on earth, I’da said ka Lungu. With no hesitation!

    • Visionless for real! Hey Lungu & PF bandits, the economy & kwacha is going beyond worthless.
Every day the PF leadership is attending “prayers” & sympathetic ” funerals whilst issuing threatening statements to the public. Visionless PF has been MUTE button on the brutalized CBU students by police, riots norms at UNZA & dilapidated UTH.
Okay PF where is the ” 90 days constitution”? Even the “Animal One” PF cadres have failed. Load shedding is a belief.
5 months left for Visionless PF bandits to be democratically kicked out! Economy & kwacha should be on PF LIPS, but alas, ” Donchi Kubeba” sickness is toiling!

  1. Great son of the soil, H.E. MICHAEL CHILUFYA SATA, rest in eternal peace till we meet again. Old warriors never die, they just fade away. You will still remain in our living memories for many years to come. You transformed Zambia in a manner never seen before. For us that lived through Kaunda’s times, we last saw infrastructure development in the late 70s. After that it was the country had gone to sleep. Now we see how much Micheal Chilufya Sata knew every corner of the country and wanted to link every place with every other. Having worked in government for many years, he understood how stifling bureaucratic red tape can be. But being the courageous leader he was he used his charisma to good effect by getting things done. REST IN PEACE H.E. MCS.

  2. His tenure in office will be remembered for massive disorganisation exercibated by his simplistic and offen irrational approach to issues, whoes actions and consequences will be felt for many years to come.

  3. Ati “old warriors never die”
How stupid can a person be?The old illiterate dictator is no more.He is dead. And talk about development. These are the same *****s who don’t understand that the economy of the country is ****ed coz of Sata.Very sad.Your children face an uncertain future coz of the illiterate dictator and you praise the unplanned and unbudgeted developments which have left you ****ed up?Sad.And if you investigate you will discover that the person who posted this is a graduate.

    • Pf under Lungu will be remembered as a party that brought back corrupt MMD leaders back who the people had rejected . Lungu the one term president who brought suffering and debt upon the Zambian people , the man with no vision.Jamerson.

  4. The human heart is naturally sarcastic. United by the dead but divided by the living and full of posthumous honors. Pathetic!

  5. Sata, MHSRIP, and PF have managed to shakel zambians for generations to come with chains of dept acquired in only 4 yrs. It took UNIP 27 yrs to shakel us with less dept. They sing about development, UNIP managed development with far less borrowing never again seen again. Meaning if PF were to remain in power for 27 yrs zambians would owe $40 billion. The truth is PF have failed at wealth creation for the country, they have failed to make the country competitive because of corrupt vested interests of ministers and other officials were they get kickbacks and other overcharging activities that are rife and driving up costs of production.

  6. Pf under Lungu will be remembered as a party that brought back corrupt MMD leaders back who the people had rejected . Lungu the one term president who brought suffering and debt upon the Zambian people , the man with no vision.

    • Under RB things were far better than they are today. Sata is the one to blame for all this. Lungu is doing well to bring back MMD whose economic competence Zambians recklessly rejected on that fateful day in Sept 2011.

  7. I UNDERSTAND NOW WHY WE ARE NOT FREE AND LIBERATED, IT IS BECAUSE WE DO NOT VALUE “TRUTH”. THE BIBLE SAYS “TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE”. IT IS A SIMPLE STATEMENT BUT VERY DIFFICULT TO HONOUR.
IS THERE ANY TRUTH, IF I MAY ASK, IN WHAT PRESIDENT LUNGU HAS SAID ABOUT SATA? IS THERE ANY TRUTH IN WHAT FR. CHILINDA HAS SAID ABOUT SATA? IF SO, NO ONE WILL GO TO HELL. IF SO, CORRUPTION, TRIBALISM, NEPOTISM, THEFT, ABUSE OF OFFICE TELLING LIES BY LEADERS, POLITICAL VIOLENCE AND KILLING, BAD GOVERNANCE AND THE LIKES ARE ALL GOOD AND ACCEPTABLE IN OUR SOCIETY. I WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE THAT HELL DOES NOT EXIST BECAUSE ALL PEOPLE WILL GO TO HEAVEN, REGARDLESS OF THE KIND OF LIFE THEY LIVED. EVEN HITLER IS A SAINT.

  8. I am no hypocrite, I was not sad when Sata died and am still not sad. Too many innocent people died because of his lack of leadership skills and general dullness with regards economic matters that are vital to the development of this country and its people. Because of him, the few steps we had taken in front to becoming a middle income nation have been reversed and in a bad way. When a person decides to appoint a fossil who single handedly brought the Zambian economy to its knees back in the eighties as finance minister in this century, then you know that person has nothing concrete in the head and when you have a person continue with that same fossil (Lungu) then you know that you are going nowhere fast as a nation.

  9. HH and all you blind followers of him must know by now that he will never be president. Sata was a man. If only he had done two terms Zambia could not have been the same. You can choose to be blind but his record is there and will be there for good.

  10. MICHAEL CHILUFYA SATA IS THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED IN ZAMBIA’S POLITICS. SATA WAS A MAN OF VERY HIGH STANDARDS WHICH TODAY ARE BEING USED TO DEVELOP ZAMBIA. AND TRULY, ZAMBIA IS HEADED FOR DEVELOPMENT IN A VERY SHORTEST POSSIBLE TIME. PEOPLE, CAN SEE- ESPECIALLY THOSE IN ZAMBIA AND THOSE WHO FREQUENTLY TRAVEL TO ZAMBIA FROM ABROAD AND OVERSEAS.

  11. Some of us Zambians are just full of rubbish. First of all yo don’t see sense. Secondly you don’t make sense. Thirdly, you can’t make sense. What is obscure about architect of development? If it was said by the likes of Obama, would you say the same? I bemoan the latitude of freedom of expression afforded us by this platform and it causes my heart to bleed when a web page such as this one is inundated by such ill thought out comments. I commend the choice of words by the President.

  12. I now see that tribalism and nepotism are real blinders and that’s why Africa and Zambia is where it is. In all honesty, all right thinking people know that Sata left us a gift of violence, tribalism and nepotism. Zambia has never been this tribally sensitive as during the time PF took over. Am sorry to say this as there are innocent relatives and children to Sata but such is public life. As a person I have nothing against Sata as he was a parent and husband. MHSRIP.

  13. What did Sata do?? He borrowed so much to build schools and universities when currently we can’t pay the existing teachers and lectures. We can’t afford to train any more teachers. He build hospitals when we can’t maintain the existing ones we have. He failed, just as his successor is failing to generate money internally. Their solutions is to borrow. Zambia has been living on eurobonds for the past 4 yrs. Now the eurobonds have finished and it time to produce, we can’t produce . They say investors will come after we have roads only to find the investors are saying too expensive to produce in Zambia. Bring those investors let’s see. The only solution is import restrictions but only to find they have signed all the free trade treaties they could find.

  14. Comment: Everyone who’s commenting against Sata’s developmental projects, they are first degree fools and childish..

  15. YOU PEPPLE U CAN COMPARE HYENA HICHLEMA HH TO OUR GOD GIVEN ECL. HYENA IFYAMBA NGA APEPA NISHI TAKULI KUSEKA. UKUSEKA KANO BODY GUARD ATNISHA ATI SEKENIPO. I DO NOT LIKE HIS KA TONGUE GROOVE WHEN HE WANTS TO CHEAT & CORN PIPO. MIJE OWNERS SHOULD BLAME THEMSELVES IF THEY THINK HYENA WILL HELP. HE WILL GRAB MINES & GIVE ANGLO AMER.

    • AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A CHRISTIAN! WHAT GOD IS YOUR GOD? IT SEEMS E.C.L IS YOUR GOD AND KAMBWILI YOUR SAVIOUR, YET TO DIE FOR YOU.

    • @ Mweemba lozi, wakolwa after masterbeting? How do you insult HH for no reason?
I actually know your real name and will inbox you just now.

  16. Sata was not interested in development! Is this Lungu really so dull to believe Zambians can swallow such bull.shit!

Sata was interested in FOUR salary increases.

    And THREE retirement houses.

And not doing a day of honest work after getting elected. He failed to honour every one of his election promises.

And abused state resources with his MEDICAL TOURISM. While people died in UTH.

JUST A USELESS THIEF AND LIAR!

  17. chipata is developed because of indians if you give a zambian shoprite full of goods and money for orders you will see how that shop will finish within weeks and go back to tutemba and eventually close shoprite. thimk of mugabe when he chased the white he thought his freedom fighters will farm on those farms they ended up selling all the equipment and become more poorer. it takes intelligency for one to prosper in life not pipo with no brains. if you fail to run your home how can you run a country. this is what we expected.

  18. Old man Sata was a CNP …he is the very reason we are in these circumstances where you have a culture of no accountability, no press conferences, recklessness and lack of transparency, the old man went to his grave shamelessly lying to his electorate that he was healthy even when his body had given up, he couldn’t put a succession plan instead he left the presidency to a weak lazy individual in the hope that he will return from his so called medical check up. We do not even know what he was suffering from.
I have no respect for Sata as President..he was completely out of his depth and was just a deadwood…Zambians liked to be lied to its no surprise we never develop.

    Wake up docility!!

  19. The licking continues even after death!
C’mon guys. Solve for power, solve for the economy, solve for anything!

Butt-licking is why Africa will always remain poor. Getting things done is how we’ll make progress.

RIP to all who have died, but life is for the living. We must look out for ourselves.

    #OneZambia

  20. Sata was an architect of tribalism, cadre clashes ,political opportunism ,nepotism, regional isolation plus being a laughing stock nation, kwacha depreciation, more indebtedness and 24/7 politicking.

    He won’ be missed.

    • It seems that Dotty Scotty was and is the only PF member with any integrity.

The rest of them have proved they are just a bunch of lying thieves in Government to steal.

  21. Sata was the best worst president we,ve ever had, he died lying about his health, left us in debts and left us with a clueless drunk in the hope that he will return. Zambia is better without him.

  22. It is true that the country experienced massive public infrastructure development during his tenure of office. It is sad though, that the sooner his health started deteriorating, the not so morally upright, apparently used these projects to their financial benefit.

  23. We suffered during Sata’s misrule . The PF government under Sata and Edgar Lungu have not attracted and will not attract any meaningful investors because of its inconsistent policies coupled with corruption and recklessness financial resource management Sata was a good example of a bad president and all those aspiring to this high office must do whatever they can to avoid following his foot steps may his soul rest while awaiting his final judgement by the Creator of the universe

  24. Which Sata is this drunkard Lungu talking about? Sata was a tribal dog. I am sure he is not in heaven but in hell burning. Rot there you dog!

  25. Seriously EL is equally pathetic. Architect of development?! Let his soul rest in peace please. We are in this mess as a nation because of visionless leaders like Sata and now Lungu. God help us please. If anything, Sata was the architect of destruction!!

  26. God intervened on time. Sata was the worst president, he divided Zambia and practiced the worst type of nepotism which thank God Lungu is addressing! He was only there for Bembas that’s why they’re everywhere in diplomatic missions and govt. Thanks to ECL they’re slowly being shown the back bench. that’s why they would say ” Tuleteka” Where are they now? Under Eastern power!

  27. It is difficult to ignore the fact late President Sata did infuse urgency in development. The fact is that investment in infrastructure is expensive, even more so in a country where corruption is difficult to overcome because of poor education and short termism. Sata would have done a lot better in better health and over a five year term. The reality is no one can develop on their own. People have to be positive and aware that Rome was not built in a day. Let’s get less insulting and objective in analysis. Whatever has been achieved now has to be lauded, not ignored for petty reasons.

  28. Any development done by Sata was just a smokescreen to hide his real intentions.

The evidence is there. He wanted to help himself to Zambias National resources for his own benefit. Salary increases, payments to Kaseba, uncle Chikwanda in finance and all the nepotism…

And he did not care that he was bankrupting the country and enslaving the next generation to satisfy his greedy selfishness.

    A shameless LIAR AND THIEF!
