Zesco United crowned….finally

Zesco United’s coronation as 2015 FAZ Super Division champions was confirmed on Wednesday at Dola Hill after they drew 1-1 away in a Ndola derby at Forest Rangers.

Zesco have now got an unassailable 64 points with two games to spare, seven points ahead of Zanaco who can only amass 63 points.

Winston Kalengo scored his 17th league goal of the season when he put Zesco ahead in the 2nd minute.

Zesco’s lead lasted well into the 64th minute when Kasashi Lupiya equalised against his parent club who loaned him to Forest for the season.

The Ndola side now have five league titles and are one behind Power Dynamos, zanaco and Green Buffaloes.

Meanwhile, Zanaco stayed firmly in second place on 57 points after a 4-1 home win over demoted National Assembly at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.

Zanaco secured their win thanks to a Moses Phiri brace plus a goal each by Ziyo Tembo and Enock Mbewe.

This is after Assembly made a false start when George Chaloba put the visitors ahead in the 6th minute.
