The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said that it has been carrying out investigations into alleged mismanagement and financial irregularities at NATSAVE. In a statement released to the media by Public relations manager Timothy Moono, ACC said that the investigations are progressing well and are being dealt with in an efficient, effective and professional manner.
Yesterday, Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) made a strong and passionate appeal to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to thoroughly investigate allegations that the NATSAVE Managing Director made an irregular payment for an advert in a French magazine of over K630,000 which was not published and a further 46,366 Euros to a French advertising agency.
Executive Director Goodwell Lungu in a statement said that as far as TIZ was concerned, this was a very simple case which the Commission can easily investigate and establish the truth within a week.
Mr Lungu said that TIZ had information that there were more financial scandals at NATSAVE that the ACC needed to thoroughly probe.
He stated that the key factors that the ACC needed to focus on were whether it is true that tender procedures were not followed, if the funds were transmitted, if the advert did not run and if the Bank made any official follow ups.

Following recent media reports concerning alleged corruption at National Savings and Credit Bank (NATSAVE), the Commission wishes to confirm that it has been carrying out investigations into alleged mismanagement and financial irregularities at NATSAVE.
The investigations are progressing well and are being dealt with in an efficient, effective and professional manner.
The Commission also wishes to assure members of the public that it attaches utmost seriousness to every investigation that it undertakes and this case is no exception.
