HH and Felix Mutati after the radio interview
HH and Felix Mutati after the radio interview

LUNTE member of Parliament Felix Mutati has said that he has he has no intentions of crossing over to the United Party for National Development (UPND).

Responding to a question when he featured on Radio Phoenix’s ‘Let the people talk programme, Mr Mutati further said that the MMD MPs that supported the UPND in the January 20 presidential election intend to contest the 2016 parliamentary elections on the MMD ticket.

“I am MMD and will continue to be MMD. My position and 26 MMD members of Parliament is to stand on MMD and not UPND in the 2016 elections. We only supported UPND and not joined,” he said.

Mr Mutati also revealed that is ready to run for presidency if MMD members consider him but observes that there is confusion in the former ruling party.
Mr Mutati has also declared next year’s elections as a do-or-die for the MMD.

Mr Mutati said there was confusion in the former ruling party and the current leadership should step down to allow a new crop of leaders to take up the mantle.

“Things are not normal in the MMD, there is a lot of confusion. My appeal to our members who are tired is, let them be courageous enough to accept failure and step down for fresh members to take up the challenge,” he said.

And Mr Mutati says challenges in the mining sector can be resolved through constructive dialogue by Government and mining companies.

The former Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry urged the two parties to continue dialoging.

“The problems in the mining sector can only be solved if all stakeholders are involved in constructive dialogue. Absence of dialogue is what is causing stakeholders to have conflicting statements, we should not wait until things are bad,” he said.

  1. Thumps up Mutati . Thats what I call being a principled politician. You not like the bellytians who change parties for the sake of their bellies. This move is a health one for democratic tenets to be held.

How ever if you can support HH for 2016, you will definitely be considered for a major role in his government not as a token of thanks but for your intellectual abilities and understanding of how democray is supposed to run.

    2016 vote HH for president.

    • Just come on board Felix. MMD is dead, and the 2016 poll will be the final nail in its coffin. Join the progressive party and help resurrect Zambia’s dead economy and local currency.

    • HH cannot win a national constituency in an electoral race be it in a winner takes it all, or under a 50+1 electoral regime because in any scenario, his messianic utopia is that he has to be the President at all cost. No rational actor: seasoned politician or undecided voter could risk the nation’s enduring unity of purpose, core values on which peace, national security, stability and people’s co-existence fabrics are built. HH lacks a temperate spirit, humility, value for national unity, patriotism to defend national state interest. Corporatocracy and sectarian agenda are indelibly his drivers in all his political circus. Good lack though in a democracy.

    • It is on the mind of many mature citizens that the pacts of HH are a comic strips of dry bornes. No doubt Felix has realized that HH’s pacts theatrics only deserve to be classified as “The Phantom (serial)” run on the political scene. We vividly remember why UDA, PF-UPND, and now the so called Zambia United phatom have all died the sooner they are born because, they initiated on condition that HH is made President regardless.

    • I listened to him when he was answering this question. He actually did mention that he has no problem with HH and UPND and it does not mean he cannot talk to them. let us wait for dissolution of Parliament. There will be some interesting movements crossing from one political party to the other, Kapita – GBM style…

Wishing you a fruitful hunting spree and happy thanks giving day.

For us here we are now in the deep freezer with temperatures around -2.

Never stop to ratchet up the pressure on the useless PF so that 2016 we can start buiding Zambia afresh.

Thanx for your comment. I always read your comments which gives me a lot of hope that there are quiet a good number of us who call a spade and nothing else when commenting on the political and economic madness being shown by the mad PF each second that passes.

Lets keep up the fight so that come 2016 we usher in a sane government for all the people and vote out PF a criminal African mafia gang.

Enjoy your chelax at the beach.

  3. And MMD Chief Bootlicker and I roundly endorse this move by Honorable Mutati. A lot of People have bought into the Under 5 hype party and people tend to even believe that UPND is the second largest opposition in Parliament and yet they are not.

People have to realize that MMD, despite our woes, remains the second largest party in Parliament. Even when it comes to the constitution amendment bill voting, UPND is still irrelevant despite all the nose they make with their Grand Coalition. MMD and PF will pass the Constitution bill. You have heard it here first.

    • @MMD Chef BootWhatever.. Is that your real profile photo, Sir? If it is, Im shocked that such an old fellow would make the exact disrespectful comments against the leader of the biggest opposition in the country. I thought age meant wisdom, but alas!! Do under fives run multi million dollar companies that employ tons of citizens and also contribute to TAX and GDP in your opinion? If these are the type of old people we have in Zambia then there is zero hope for success!!

When we criticize PF, we highlight the mistakes they are making such as, blotted cabinet, over-spending, tribalism, violence, corruption, lies during campaigns, nepotism, etc, etc. These are valid points to reject a sitting government like we did against MMD.

Please tell us on what grounds you base your wicked hatred for HH.. Propaganda from Zambia Reports? I feel sorry for people like you and UFO!

I know that I have sunk so low to engage in this type of confrontation and I know Im inviting lots of insults from you and your like. But its okay. I wont even respond to your future comments. What have you achieved as a person to always insult HH. Even when the article doesnt involve HH, you still a way to include him in your comments. What a lost soul.

Just to be fair, I also do not support such UPND cadres like Malama who are so vulgar against PF or President Lungu. We cant be insulting each other all the time. Just debate with relevant points. Shame on people like you, UFO, Malama, and the like. Whether PF supporters or UPND…

    • @Mr Intelligent

I actually don’t know what you are ranting about. I basically raised raised two issues

      1) Mutati did well to state his position that he is still MMD
      2) MMD has more MPS than UPND go to parliament and borrow all fingers from 10 UPND cadres and do the counting
So what is your issue? You only have 31 MPs in parliament , a non factor when the numbers required to pass the bill is 106 out of 150 MPs. Act intelligent for once as you claim

    • Ba bootlicker stick to issues. That’s why ba Intelligent bamiyasha because you can’t debate the issue at hand.
The issue at hand is about Mutati stating his position in politics today, not about your perceieved under fives or the voting in Parliament. its not guaranteed that all the MMD members of parliament will support the bill. You and Nevers Mumba cannot guarantee that!

    • @Bootlicker

I agree with MR. Intelligent. n fact your rebuttal post makes me feel sorry for you. You remind of this young man, a bus conductor whose late father used to be a Minister. Today the boy only consoles himself with the past glory of childhood which he only remembers dimly.

MMD is a spent force. You can’t boast based on the seats which you won when you were the incumbent party. In fact after 2011, you have watched powerlessly as Poor Finishers whittled your party clean. The sorriest experience I believe was 20th January when you could not even get 1%, and FDD relegated you to 4th position. And you still have the audacity of claiming to be a big party.

Facts are facts. Come 2016, MMD will be lucky if you even get above 15 seats.

  4. FELIX MUTATI MAY BE ARTICULATE LIKE NEVERS MUMBA BUT HE HASN’T GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A LEADER OF A PARTY, LET ALONE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT. HE IS ALSO NOT A PERFORMER. HE IS JUST A NICE GUY WITH SEEMINGLY GOOD IDEAS, BEYOND THAT THERE IS NOTHING, JUST LIKE CHIPIMO AND NEVERS MUMBA. IF HE BECAME PRESIDENT OF MMD, HE WILL NOT TAKE THE PARTY ANYWHERE. WHAT DID HE DO AS MINISTER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY? NOTHING? HE NEVER EVEN UNDERTOOK A TOUR OF INDUSTRIES. THERE IS NO RECORD OF HIM HAVING TOURED A COMPANY WHILE HE SERVED AS MINISTER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, UNLIKE THE LATE SIKATANA WHO, INSPITE OF BEING A LAWYER, PERFORMED VERY WELL AS MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE,

  7. Good words Hon Mutati, you are one of the few.
On the political front, if the current leadership of MMD remains up to September 2016, are you still going to support HH or you have come back to your senses and reconsidered? Honestly I do not expect that high calibre leaders like Hon Mutati can continue to tag along in UPND with the likes of GBM as “leaders”.
On the economic front, your advice on the Mining industry are good words of a patriot, a leader, a man of integrity, a rare breed of Zambian politician, a man who wants solutions that will benefit Zambians not just his political ego. You have not tried to gain political mileage from obvious economic challenges.

  8. MMD aspiring members of parliament including Mutati are in for a shock. This time around whatever remains of MMD in parliament will be wiped out. When people are in a ballot booth, they usually put a cross for the same party. They wont put a cross on UPND or PF then put a cross for MMD MP. This election will entail the end of MMD. I had respect for Mr Mutati until now because he will no longer be in parliament without the help of UPND or PF. Mutati cannot revive the MMD. It needs a charismatic leader. Mutati is in the class of HH. They can have the work done but they might not be people’s person.

  9. Contrast that with HH who not so long ago supported windfall tax and other taxes on the mines not because of his political convictions or economic fundamentals but only because that was the fashionable noise at the time and there were votes to gain. Look at him today, vilifying the government and poor innocent Edgar Chagwa Lungu in a vain and misinformed attempt to gain political mileage. With such hallucinations and total lack of patriotism and integrity, how do you honestly even entertain the idea of becoming President of Zambia? Just why we do not have people like Mutati leading UPND beats me, I mean the likes of HH are fit to be ministers in a Mutati leadership. Bwana HH, take a leaf from Hon Mutati and you may just become a good candidate worth of consideration by sensible voters,…

    • @Terrible— It is indeed terrible. HH has built UPND over the years just like Sata built PF over the years. Little wonder it beats you that Mutati is not leading a party like UPND. Mutati has not attempted to built a political party…… So, things are happening in HH’s UPND and continue wondering why….. We are a people on the move. Good luck with that.

  10. Iwe China, Mutati in the same class as HH, come on that is disrespect. Like many normal politicians Hon Mutati will wait for the Presidency to come to him if God so wishes while HH wants to go to the Presidency regardless of what God desires. Can you say that the two are the same or similar?

  11. Hon Mutati, the challenge i always see in Zambian politics is that we dont vote in parties but we vote them out (we dont scrutinise what we are voting in because of too much anger and waiting for the wind of change). so from this background, i dont see MMD coming back to power just like UNIP did.

    • @China, does that comment make you a man? You are both the same ignorant and two months baby brain. These politician have nothing to do with God. If God could choose a president for Zambia he would not choose balya aba tutuma ngata banwinepo ka beer, not even HH. It’s us Zambians with our foolish mindset that are choosing these morons to rule the country and destroy it. The biggest problem in our country is that everybody has ideas on how to govern the country, but those ideas only end up at LT blog. Do something don’t just blog here and your families are dying in hospitals for headache because there is no panadol to cure them, what a shame to those that are still saying ifintu ni Lungu, that doesn’t mean I’m supporting HH.

  13. HH AND UPND IS THE WAY TO GO FOR ZAMBIA. WE DON’T HAVE A PROBLEM FOR FELIX TO REMAIN IN MMD. LET HIM REMAIN THERE TO TRY AND WARM THE DYING PARTY. UPND ALREADY HAS ENOUGH POOL OF INTELLECTUALS TO FORM GOVERNMENT NEXT YEAR. HOWEVER, MANY MORE ARE STILL NEEDED BECAUSE POOL SHOULD NOT BE EXHAUSTED AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. IT IS ZAMBIA FORWARD WITH HH. IT IS ZAMBIA FORWARD WITH UPND. THE STRONG WIND OF CHANGE IS INDEED SWEEPING ACROSS ZAMBIA. FLIGHT HH 2016 VIVA!

  14. @ Mr. Intelligent
Stop bringing me in your senseless and myopic support of the Under 5 failure. My comments against HH and UPND are real and constructive based on facts. I still maintain that HH and UPND will never ever step foot in State House for simple reason. People know very well that your HH is just a bitter man, one who thinks so highly of of himself and has no heart for the poor he purports to represent.
How do you expect a person like me an and many others to be kind to someone who does not recognize other people’s work and effort? If foreigners and those in diaspora when they visit Zambia can give credit to the development taking place in Zambia, but only YOU and YOUR HH cant see this, do you expect a normal person to support such f00l? No, No, No! Tell your HH to realise…

  15. I like to read comments on every political article, it makes me realize how much people in Zambia are too behind in thinking. I’m not here to support any political part, but it makes me wonder at this point in our mother Zambia a normal person can say ifintu ni Lungu. Or maybe some people like to comment just to bring up something to talk about. Such mentality made Kaunda stayed in power for 27 years, same thing is happening in Zimbabwe, now in zim $5 is equal to 35 quadrillion zim dollar, is that what you want before you can smell a cup of coffee. Wake up fellow Zambians.

  16. UPND went to the graave with Mazoka. Is it too difficult to realise this aspect of reality? Mazoka was selleable across Zambia but the Under 5 is only known in two (2) Provinces. Even in the hardest times, Zambians cant vote for HH its just impossible.
PF is here to stay for a very long long time to come based on how they are determined to transform Zambia in a short space of time they have been in power and thats what counts NOT POMPOSITY, NO!

  17. Mutati just join HH. You did a good job last presidential election with HH had it not been RB’s greed UPND would have formed govt. So continue from where you left and God will lift you up. You can be a good politician but you have a lot of reservations and some fear of the unknown. Come out in open and critisize president Lungu who have looted public funds when he went with 256 people including dancers and musicians to USA in September where more than 1US$ million was wasted. Ask Zanaco they will tell you and this is the reason ECL is blocking opposition leaders to hold rallies for fear that the learned will spill the beans to the poor Zambians.

  18. The truth is MMD like UNIP will never bounce back.Mutati knows that his people in Lunte can not vote for a Tonga president,so he does not want to end like Mucheleka in Luwingu. Its a sad development were tribalism is the driving spirit in voting .Mutati can not join PF because he knows PF is dying, the best he can do is to use MMD which looks neutral in Lunte. The truth however is that Mutati knows in his heart that HH is the best candidate so far but can not join him since his tribes men will disown him.Its sad that PF will win Lunte and Mutati will be thrown in a dust bin .That will be the end Mutati .HH will sweep most MMD sits in Western,North western,Central,Livingstone and some parts of copperbelt.Lusaka will present the best gift to HH.2016 will make UPND as the largest party in…

    • @ Mangwamu, Why should such comments from some Zambians surprise you? Visit Zambia and you will see how dirty the country is. You are greeted by dirt immediately you step out of the bus at the station in the capital Lusaka. Actually, dirt is Zambia’s middle name.

  22. @UFO,I agree with every bit of your sentiments regarding HH nd UPND. You know what! These people think that dominating Radio stations,Tv nd online media will make their HH ascend to power. Frankly speaking, opinion nd perception on the ground still pits ECL as the most popular candidate to scoop 2016 elections convincingly. What upsets people most,is HH has openly expressed happiness at the current economic
challenges our country is facing. This is total unpatriotism nd unworthy of one aspiring to become president of Zambia.People lets face reality,HH is not just SALEABLE nd is losing next year!!!
