LUNTE member of Parliament Felix Mutati has said that he has he has no intentions of crossing over to the United Party for National Development (UPND).
Responding to a question when he featured on Radio Phoenix’s ‘Let the people talk programme, Mr Mutati further said that the MMD MPs that supported the UPND in the January 20 presidential election intend to contest the 2016 parliamentary elections on the MMD ticket.
“I am MMD and will continue to be MMD. My position and 26 MMD members of Parliament is to stand on MMD and not UPND in the 2016 elections. We only supported UPND and not joined,” he said.
Mr Mutati also revealed that is ready to run for presidency if MMD members consider him but observes that there is confusion in the former ruling party.
Mr Mutati has also declared next year’s elections as a do-or-die for the MMD.
Mr Mutati said there was confusion in the former ruling party and the current leadership should step down to allow a new crop of leaders to take up the mantle.
“Things are not normal in the MMD, there is a lot of confusion. My appeal to our members who are tired is, let them be courageous enough to accept failure and step down for fresh members to take up the challenge,” he said.
And Mr Mutati says challenges in the mining sector can be resolved through constructive dialogue by Government and mining companies.
The former Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry urged the two parties to continue dialoging.
“The problems in the mining sector can only be solved if all stakeholders are involved in constructive dialogue. Absence of dialogue is what is causing stakeholders to have conflicting statements, we should not wait until things are bad,” he said.
Thumps up Mutati . Thats what I call being a principled politician. You not like the bellytians who change parties for the sake of their bellies. This move is a health one for democratic tenets to be held.
How ever if you can support HH for 2016, you will definitely be considered for a major role in his government not as a token of thanks but for your intellectual abilities and understanding of how democray is supposed to run.

Just come on board Felix. MMD is dead, and the 2016 poll will be the final nail in its coffin. Join the progressive party and help resurrect Zambia’s dead economy and local currency.
HH cannot win a national constituency in an electoral race be it in a winner takes it all, or under a 50+1 electoral regime because in any scenario, his messianic utopia is that he has to be the President at all cost. No rational actor: seasoned politician or undecided voter could risk the nation’s enduring unity of purpose, core values on which peace, national security, stability and people’s co-existence fabrics are built. HH lacks a temperate spirit, humility, value for national unity, patriotism to defend national state interest. Corporatocracy and sectarian agenda are indelibly his drivers in all his political circus. Good lack though in a democracy.
It is on the mind of many mature citizens that the pacts of HH are a comic strips of dry bornes. No doubt Felix has realized that HH’s pacts theatrics only deserve to be classified as “The Phantom (serial)” run on the political scene. We vividly remember why UDA, PF-UPND, and now the so called Zambia United phatom have all died the sooner they are born because, they initiated on condition that HH is made President regardless.

He actually did mention that he has no problem with HH and UPND and it does not mean he cannot talk to them. let us wait for dissolution of Parliament. There will be some interesting movements crossing from one political party to the other, Kapita – GBM style…

And MMD Chief Bootlicker and I roundly endorse this move by Honorable Mutati. A lot of People have bought into the Under 5 hype party and people tend to even believe that UPND is the second largest opposition in Parliament and yet they are not.
People have to realize that MMD, despite our woes, remains the second largest party in Parliament. Even when it comes to the constitution amendment bill voting, UPND is still irrelevant despite all the nose they make with their Grand Coalition. MMD and PF will pass the Constitution bill. You have heard it here first.

1) Mutati did well to state his position that he is still MMD
2) MMD has more MPS than UPND go to parliament and borrow all fingers from 10 UPND cadres and do the counting

MMD is a spent force. You can’t boast based on the seats which you won when you were the incumbent party. In fact after 2011, you have watched powerlessly as Poor Finishers whittled your party clean. The sorriest experience I believe was 20th January when you could not even get 1%, and FDD relegated you to 4th position. And you still have the audacity of claiming to be a big party.
Facts are facts. Come 2016, MMD will be lucky if you even get above 15 seats.

MMD aspiring members of parliament including Mutati are in for a shock. This time around whatever remains of MMD in parliament will be wiped out. When people are in a ballot booth, they usually put a cross for the same party. They wont put a cross on UPND or PF then put a cross for MMD MP. This election will entail the end of MMD. I had respect for Mr Mutati until now because he will no longer be in parliament without the help of UPND or PF. Mutati cannot revive the MMD. It needs a charismatic leader. Mutati is in the class of HH. They can have the work done but they might not be people’s person.

Hon Mutati, the challenge i always see in Zambian politics is that we dont vote in parties but we vote them out (we dont scrutinise what we are voting in because of too much anger and waiting for the wind of change). so from this background, i dont see MMD coming back to power just like UNIP did.

I like to read comments on every political article, it makes me realize how much people in Zambia are too behind in thinking. I’m not here to support any political part, but it makes me wonder at this point in our mother Zambia a normal person can say ifintu ni Lungu.
