Lusaka, Zambia, 03rd December 2015 – We are concerned at UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema’s continued show of contempt onto the government of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu to an extent where he is willing to paint the whole Zambia black in the process, in order to get what he thinks will be an iota of popularity.
Our concern emanates from the most recent attacks on the government of Zambia yet again by HH who spoke at the Global African Investment Summit with open contempt, not only of the elected leadership of President Lungu but of the very Zambians he seeks to lead.
It is our considered view that if you are privileged enough to be given a speaking slot at such a ‘sold out event’ or gathering where there are heads of states and CEOs that represent Fortune 100 companies, every word must count and it must count towards garnering investment for your country and not doom saying.
During his rare speaking opportunity, however, HH went on the onslaught and contemptuously, without backing anything, told potential investors that Zambia was not good for business because of alleged red tape, concentration on mining and paying lip service to tourism.
If HH was in an examination, he would have terribly failed to cut the grade the same way he has failed to cut the grade lamentably amongst Zambian voters. This is because he went beyond the Terms of Reference of selling Zambia’s investment potential to giving a disjointed bitter account of everything he perceives as wrong with Zambia. Purely out of bitterness.
Now there is nothing wrong with pointing out short-comings of a country or an individual leader in a democracy that is definitely the stuff that democracy’s is made of. What is wrong however is the level of contempt that HH is willing to stoop to in order to make his bitter points as he steps up efforts to win hearts and souls of Zambian voters. Desperation is clearly kicking in. If we were privileged enough to be among his close advisors, we would tell him four words, “easy with hate rhetoric,” instead like President Lungu, “turn to love and reconciliation.” You will not build Zambia by selling it cheaply, you will not build Zambia by saying it’s a no go area for investment.
If trouble erupted today HH, where would you find a safe haven for your local investment, such as cows and other shares you hold in different companies? Nowhere. Build Zambia HH, do not burn it down and while you are at it, pray to God, you will find that he answers his children’s prayers. Do not be scared of God. Your immense hate of President Lungu and the Pf is deeply clouding your objectivity.
If you can speak so harshly and without shame about Zambia at a public forum, we shudder to think what you say behind closed door meetings with your funders. There is one word we have to describe people like you HH, “UNPATRIOTIC.” You will not win Zambian voters with hate and bitterness. Zambians respond to love and unity, not bitterness and contempt laced with tribalism.
Next time you speak at an international forum on Zambia think first of the damage your careless speech causes to Zambian children and not just yourself for once. Zambia is bigger than you.

This Sunday Chanda does not know that HH has cattle not cows only! Am sure other presidents present at the forum took notes from HH’s suggestions to go and implement when they are back home.

HH was just telling them what they already know. You think they are as ignorant as you are? All that information is at their fingertips. Why they invited HH was to give them details as to how he will govern the nation from next year when he takes over considering the many inconsistencies the PF has been doing on policies and tax regimes. They wanted assurance that things will be ok when he is head of state. You think they wanted lectures about economics and finance which they know equally or even more than him? Or you think they wanted him to tell them what is happening in Zambia? They know. You think like a cheap cadre, you write well but your thinking is tainted with cadre-ism or some ignorance about what the west does when it sees a head of state in the making.
Typical of sunday the Lungu back side licker. He is trying hard to earn coins from Lungu even on things that Lungu himself has seen sense in and is trying to copy.
Sunday and Tayali will cry the worst when PF is booted out of power in 2016. Their source of bread will dry out completely. All the tuma NGO they are runing will not be funded because of their open corruption. Even right now their funding has dried up except from Lungu thats why they would even strip naked and expose their back side to appease Lungu.
In mean time Lungu is worried that PF is losing ground in its strong hold thats why he has gone flat out campaigning with all his house hold.

Comments by PF are misplaced as they have failed to argue on the points HH raised. That is how you advance your arguments intellectually. Article by PF not worth commenting on.
Instead of complaining you as government should have been there in the first place. Investors don’t just invest, they look for trusted and principled political leadership because investing is a risky business if the environment is shady and unpredictable.
Wisdom is very difficult to come by, only God gives it. And that is the component HH is missing. If we were Patriotic to our country as Chiness and Americans are, we would have moved a miles away. The fact is that Zambia has better learned people with full of Wisdom than HH who we can listen from.

@ True, Where are those “better learned people with full wisdom” that the country can listen to? If they are in a cocoon with their knowledge then they are as good as not being there at all. HH is right to point out the mistakes. Do you want Zambia to attract investors using false information? This is the reason why many investors learn the hard way when they come to Zambia because the reality on the ground is different from the lies they were told.
As for Sunday Chanda’s reaction, it confirms Mumbi Phiri’s assertion that PF is a party for kaponyas, marketeers and riff-raff.

Am very shocked that Zambians can distort facts, I am a student here doing my PHD and had the chance to be at the speech by HH. I am a PF supporter and that’s how i got mu scholarship. Sunday Chanda is a new comer and we don’t know where he came from ask Chisimba will tell you that is a job seeker.
