Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba says being on bye in the preliminary round of the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup is giving his side ample time to prepare for the competition.
Zanaco will enter the Confederation Cup in the first round where they await the victor of the preliminary round clash between Harare City of Zimbabwe and AS Adema of Madagascar.
Zanaco will be away in the first leg during the weekend of March 11-13 before hosting their opponents on March 19 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
In interview, Numba said Zanaco will be ready for the Confederation Cup by the time they will enter the fray.
“We are taking our preparations seriously and it is good that we are on bye,” he said.
“Being on bye gives us time to prepare adequately. By the time we are playing our first game in the Confederation Cup will have played some local games,” Numba said.
“We will be ready for the Confederation Cup,” he said.
Zanaco last competed in Africa in 2013 after winning their last league title.
