The ruling Patriotic Front is happy that Police have been legally compelled to investigate insinuations by retired veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga that the 2016 general election could be rigged.

PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya has particularly commended MMD national youth Secretary Bowman Lusambo for taking it upon himself as a citizen to file a complaint with the Police against Dr. Mwaanga.

Fr. Bwalya says the ruling PF feels if not investigated, Dr. Mwaanga’s claims could be recipe for confusion after this year’s general election.

Father Bwalya says the PF is glad that there are some vigilant citizens in the Country who prioritize national interest whenever they see someone practicing politics likely to endanger lives of the people.

Earlier today, MMD National Youth Secretary, Bowman Lusambo petitioned the Zambia Police to summon veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga to explain the vote rigging statement attributed to him.

Mr. Lusambo said that he felt duty bound as a citizen to petition the Police because the rigging statement attributed to Dr. Mwaanga is a threat to peace and national security.

He told journalist after a closed door meeting with the police intelligence unit that Dr. Mwaanga must explain how governments have been rigging elections.

Mr. Lusambo said the statement is likely to cause voter apathy and discontent during and after elections.

Mr. Lusambo is confident that the police will do a good job over his petition.

  1. Lusambo is a paid conman who has been pretending to be MMD while working with Mulenga Sata. Even a fool knows that since Kaunda Zambian elections have been rigged more so the January 2015 ones. Go ask Chuungu and former ECZ chairperson in their confession to God they have told the truth.

    • PF must also report Chishimba Kambwili for hate speech for the more serious tribal comments about the Tonga speaking people. Its sad to see desperate corrupt politicians who fear jail for all the stealing they have been doing try to use tribe to bounce back into power. The continued insulting of the Tonga’s by the PF is just working against the PF, because good meaning citizens can see through the PF game and will kick them out whether they use tribe or not.

Zambians must kick out divisive leaders!

    • Frank Bwalya ati “some vigilant citizens in the Country who prioritize national interest”. Don’t sound so naive. Bowman Lusambo is looking for a party on which to stand as MP. He has no interest in the well-being of the country. He knows his chances of securing an MP seat are slim under MMD, hence his swiftness in coming to the defence of PF with the hope that kabotolo Lungu will appreciate his actions and adopt him to stand on PF ticket.
There is no smoke without fire. It’s all about bread and butter issues. Survival in Zambia

  2. Welcome move! We need to put an end to careless talk! That is why I am happy that HH has sued those that were alleging that he had castigated a chief for welcoming and talking to Davies Chama in Bemba.HH deserves to be heard so that we get the TRUTH! All these insinuations have a potential to create trouble in the nation. VJ should explain whatever he meant so that we get the TRUTH because we do not want anarchy. We want whoever will loose or win to do so “square and clean” and the one who will be President not to carry a tag of “stolen votes” which cannot be proved! We do not want confusion from any group of losers!! We want peace so that we can get on with our daily lives after August 2016!

  3. If VJ goes to court over this, there are many of us willing to testify. Some may include Lucy Kasanga of ECZ who will tabulate how the totaling centre made Levy beat Mazoka by 33,000 votes on a Friday, a day after voting and only 9 constituency results had been announced. The actual results announced (confirming the actual 33,000 difference) by the Chief Returning officer, the Chief Justice, five days later were just a formality. The European Union that compiled results from the 5000 plus polling Centres had a clear win for Mazoka. How did the totaling centre give Levy a win? The same repeated itself last year in January. There are many witnesses to this; some have since disappeared mysteriously after helping the system.

  4. Bloggers here so indecisive, one day they wake up supporting UPND, some days PF. Some days they forget about their current sufferings when sweet talked by these petty leaders. All intelligent bloggers are just a big picture of how other intelligent citizens out there are. Very indecisive. Stand your ground & support the leader that you want to stir this nation for the next 5 years. Whether you are in the UK, USA or SA. You are affected too. Long story cut short. Vote wisely, it’s important!

    • @Spark Jarrow,my apology if my response is a reflection of my misunderstanding of these news websites. I believe LT,Watchdog,Zambia Reports etc are not meant for political campaigns but to inform the public mainly about events in Zambia. They are not for political party cadres but for anybody who cares to know and comment on issues under discussion especially on Zambia. So there are those those who blog with neutrality and just want to contribute and side with the point of view they agree with regardless of who is right or wrong. They do not care or are not steeped in the PF-UPND polarisation but wish to see that reason prevails. So one day they can attack PF,another UPND or whever! So there is no leader to support for some of the bloggers!

  5. BONWEL LUSAMBO U RE A BIG FOOL WITH FRANK BWALYA THERE’S NO FIRE WITHOUT SMOKE WE NO YOUR PLANS U WANT TO RIGG ELECTIONS BT THIS TIME U WILL FAIL GOD Z THEIR TO FREE ZAMBIANS PIPO FROM THEIVES , LUNGU AND HIS FOLLOWERS VE NO VISION TO RULE THIS COUNTRY

  6. THERE IS TRUTH IN WHAT VJ IS TRYING TO CORRECT. FOR EXAMPLE, WHERE PEOPLE ARE VOTING IN A TIE BY-ELECTIONS, WHILE THE OTHER SIDE PEOPLE ARE VOTING AND ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE MADE, WHAT DOES THAT INTERPRET? TO ME IT IS FORCING PEOPLE TO VOTE WRONGLY. ECZ BLUNDERED. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO WAIT UNTIL ALL POLLING AND CONSTITUENCIES FINISHED VOTING.
LAST ELECTIONS WERE NOT FREE AND FAIR IN A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY.

    • What those who are suing need to ensure is that the electoral process is transparent and has the confidence of all local stakeholders and the process is not broken.

  7. How does Frank know that the police have seen merit in Bowman’s petition. Is he trying to influence the way the police will act.
Similarly the police should move on Thickneck Chimbwili who is spreading hate speech.
As for VJ be firm. We will stand by you. You have a duty to protect this country. Don’t be like Kaunda who refuses to protect the country on issues like BA’64.

  8. Zambians wake up. Raising a point of concern or a criticism is not a crime, as the PF understands it. Zambians are losing their liberty gradually. All characteristics of dictatorship has been demonstrated by this regime. Don’t let humbleness deceive you. In Bemba they say if you praise indoshi, tomorrow it is you, it will descend on. If you give these regime another chance, the liberty you are enjoying will be eroded. They enjoy fighting and intimidating opponents. The fruits of the tree defines what it is. It not how nice it looks like.

  9. Only in Zambia does one who reports a thief, instead get arrested. VJ is only giving us warning of will happen in August. The police should thank him and prepare to arrest anyone found with rigged votes.

    • sure he ws suppose to reamin quiet look at kaunda he is very quiet, not pre emptying the issue knowing for sure that this is an election year and tempers are rising, just last year upnd cadres followed a truck carrying election material them thought were already marked ballot papers.meanwhile ECL alewina 11.08.2016

  10. @Just last year upnd cadres followed a truck carrying election material them thought were already marked ballot papers.meanwhile ECL alewina 11.08.2016

    • Why should he not speak about it? He is knowledgeable in election matters from the early UNIP days through to the MMD days an election strategist. He was OP director at one stage overseeing elections at times. He has been on election observer missions in several countries because of his experience. A feat that you will not achieve in your life, not even presiding on a \nsambo ya nfwa” in your family. So just keep an open mind and learn. This concern comes from a committed zambian patriot and can help stem an possible violent backlash if voters are not convinced by concrete and verifiable evidence of the validity of the poll results. VJ’s caution on tallying is just one mechanism among many others that can prevent this. In stead of villfying him think of other mechanisms available. You…

  11. Zambians should be aware of people who only think insults are one way of scoring political points. 52 years after independence, we must appreciate that insults, unsubstantiated statements belong to be to the dustbin. So insults against Lungu, Bowman Lusambo or Fr. Frank Bwalya shall give UPND a winning votes.
Vernon’s utterances are a recipe for anarchy.

    • See my comment above in addition- In stead of villfying him think of other mechanisms available. You come up with other suitable additional mechanisms to ensure a free and fair election. I do not see how a person who tells you that your spouse is a lay-about who cohorts with unsavory characters and can sally your your family values can be a source of anarchy in your family. A reasonable man takes heed and puts appropriate measures in place- inform your spouse, warn her about the potential harm and advise her to change her ways. This is VJ is trying to do, so where does anarchy come in?

  12. When compatriots express their feelings concerning the governance of the country, then it is appropriate to dialogue with them. The truth is that perceptions are as valid as factual observations when it comes to human behavior. It is not right to settle a simple political sentiment in the court of law. Feelings do not know any boundaries. In actual fact, it is correct to stat that in certain cases, the election outcome could be influenced by various distortions (rigging). Such distortions include excessive expenditure on political campaigns, political intimidation by respected members of the community, bureaucratic manipulations, including late voting and counting, unnecessary and avoidable technical faults, such as many vehicle breakdowns. On the basis of these factual arguments, it is…
