THE Election Observation Mission have condemned the violence that rocked the Uganda general elections describing it as being inconsistent with the requirements of the general norms of democracy as they undermined the essential aspects of electoral integrity.

Zambia’s former President, Rupiah Banda in his preliminary statement on behalf of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA) observation mission said security forces proved to intimidate and influence the electoral process against providing law and order.

Mr Banda said there was a lot of public mistrust of the security forces who were accused of favouring the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party to the disadvantage of the opposition party.

He said the recently held general elections in Uganda had a lot of reports of malpractices especially against the rights and freedoms of the opposition political parties.

“The lack of clarity about the role of the crime preventers in the electoral process contributed to fear and apprehension ahead of the elections. This was regrettable, particularly given the perception of some members of the public who saw the crime preventers as a militia group established to favour the incumbent over his opposition,”he said.

    • That’s why Africa will always remain behind. these old men are so much poor hungry? see the Zimbabwe Dog?? at 91 he still wants to stand? what the hell, you mean the man can not just retire and let the young-ones run the country??

Lungu you try this in Zambia. we will eat you alive..

    • If Rupiah Banda’s said report, which seems to reflect what has been observed by multiple observers – will describe that election as such – hold any water & maintain this seemingly honest opinion – HE SHOULD IMPART THE SAME COUNSEL TO CHAGWA!!!!

    • RB, your Edgar and his PF colleagues are planning to do the same here. When will you speak against the PoA and access to public media by opposition in Zambia?

    • West brom winger Chris brunt, Jersey 11, was cut below the eye, causing massive bleeding, by a coin thrown at his face by his OWN supporters after losing 2-1 to Reading in FA cup on Saturday .

Coincidentally, Our Chipolopolo Captain is also Chris and wears Jersey 11, a soldier .

May the law enforcement officers not “throw coins” (bullets and tear gas) at the opposition or the ruling supporters up to, on or after the 11/8 elections .

They, all, are your OWN people.
      No violence in Zambia!!!

  1. Sad that such acts still surface. M7 took over through a coup hoping to end injustice but now he is the worst character in African

  2. Sad that such acts still surface. M7 took over through a coup hoping to end injustice but now he is the worst character in Africa.

  3. If there’s one thing every Zambian should be proud of, is the fact that we are the Champions and pioneers of Democracy when it comes to peaceful elections and smooth transition of power from one regime to another. Its not perfect but not bad as witnessed in the just ended sham of an election in Uganda.
Political violence is there among cadres and as long as it doesn’t spill over to innocent law abiding peaceful citizens, they can maim each other all they want.

    • What peaceful elections naimwe? Ndola airport taken over by thugs, Sinda violence, Namwala violence, cadre beaten for saying Lungu akudya eka, Nevers Mumba teargassed, MMD hq attacked, Wynter kabimba clobbered in Chipata, UPND cadre killed by PF cadres etc and all this within one year before the elections. and you are there saying Zambia should be proud of being peaceful

    • Like he said iwe ka peter ka cadre maim each other upnd, mmd, pf,df and sorts of cadres plus online cadres but leave us the civilians to our own peaceful but poor routines

  4. Comment: I really agree with you Mr Lupia Bwezani Banda, Chisankho chaku Uganda it was free and fair election, Moni wa Mafuta a Nkhumba Bwana, Koma ndiye kuno kumudzi takusowani Bwanji, Njala yokha kuno Bwana, Pitala Mathanyula Muthalika walephera kuthetsa Mavoto azachuma.

  5. Dull africans busy asking for a seat in security council when you are known for abuse of security.

  6. Thats why it is dangerous to vote for pipo like HH who cant go for convention and their records when it comes to public funds leave alot to be desired. HH was voted but stopped convention against the constitution like mugabe and M7

  7. most dictators start well, fight hard as tho they want to save pipo once they see coridos of power they block everything like HH has done in UPND.

  8. Some people can’t just resist saying something about HH. The subject is RB’s comments on the recent elections in Uganda. How then do you go off on a tangent, are you sick?

  9. We had one president for 27years then in the last 25 years we have had 5 presidents. Has this been bad or good? Debate. (25 marks).

    • All the years to tubulu and does not depend on political dynamics but my own ingenuity.Your definition of bad or good perhaps could have been expanded other than leaving us in a grammatical twist!

  10. It seems the report is based on ‘PERCEPTIONS’ of the Voters. I have a problem with that, in that the Observers have no Proven fact that there was intimidation…seemingly.

In Africa supporters always claim unfairness as a matter of course because they don’t want their party to lose. We have an inability to accept losing an election since our perception is linked to an expectation our party will favour us when we get them into power! I smell a rat…..since RB now knows it’s a Female running mate….is he signalling to us how he will go thus time round!

  11. TO ME RB DOES NOT QUALIFY TO BE AN INDEPENDENT INTENATIONAL ELECTION MONITOR BECAUE HE HAS FAILED TO LEAVE ACTIVE POLITICS HERE AT HOME.

AT HIS AGE HE IS STILL CAUSING PROBLEMS IN MMD. HIS REGALIA SHOWING THAT HE IS PRESIDENT OF MMD IS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. HE HAS COMPLETELY IGNORED THE SYPREME COURT RULING AND TO MAKE IT WORSE, THE REPUBLICAN PRESDIENT, A LAWYER HAS EMBRACED HIM AS CAMPAIGN MANAGER. HE CANNOT EVEN MEDIATE BETWEEN MUTATI AND NEVERS BECAUSE HE IS THE ONE WHO HAS BEEN SPONSORING CONVENTION VOICES.

NEVERS BE CAREFUL OF THIS OLD MAN.

H HAS NO MORAL RIGHT TO BE IN UGANDA.
