There has been distribution of fliers purportedly being produced by the so called Newly Formed Barotseland Liberation army indicating that they are not going to allow any politician from the Northern Rhodesia to hold any campaign rallies in Western Province in readiness for the forthcoming General elections.

We would like to categorically state as Zambia Police that we are not going to condone any individual or group of individuals who would want to abrogate the Laws in this country with impunity and as such we are going to ensure that all those that would be found wanting are arrested and prosecuted.

Zambia has enjoyed peace from the time it attained independence and as Zambia Police we shall ensure that the peace is preserved and sustained at all cost.

We believe we have sensitized people enough on the need to abide by the Law but it seems, to some pockets of individuals, such information seem to have been falling on deaf ears.
We are therefore warning all those that would want to cause confusion in this country that we are not going to tolerate them but ensure that they are arrested and taken to court.

We are also warning cadres of all political parties that they should always restrain themselves from engaging in violent activities in the name of politics as we are not going to spare anyone that would want to ignore the provisions of the law.

Zambia is a country that is governed by Laws and it is the duty of every individual to see to it that peace prevails at all times.

As an institution with the mandate of maintaining peace in the country, we shall always ensure that all people irrespective of their political affiliation are protected and that all their activities are conducted in a peaceful environment without any intimidation from any quota.

INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE

    • Police must deal with these chaps firmly. The barosteland aggreement nonsence will not materialize, its a dead and buried issue. Beside distributing fliers for the “Barotseland Liberation army” is a treasonable offence. The barosteland aggreement is a representation of selfishness and lack of patriotism of a few traditional leaders (indunas), to the exclusion of us the majority lozis. To Hel1 with this cheap and shamefull document.

    • Let them be liberated afterall there is nothing meaningful under lungu. They are seen as if they are not part of the 72 tribes of Zambia.

  1. Very poor English from the IG! What is meant by ‘intimidation from any quota’? What quota? How can a group of individuals intimidate a Government? I thought distribution of such materials is a criminal offense? The IG is lying! Show us the pictures of those flyers?

  2. @The Kimbanguist

“ALL PEOPLE MUST BE PROTECTED and that all THEIR ACTIVITIES are conducted without any INTIMIDATION FROM ANY QUOTA”.

DO all the people imply government?

  3. If zambians thinks this barotse thing is nothing they will be shocked.we are just waiting for the elections and if pf will win then we shall fight to seceed from northern Rhodesia. Why livingkimasholi. Masipa ya hau.

  4. This issue needs a political solution as opposed to police brutal force. Al bashia of Sudan tried force but failed until he succumbed to pressure and south Sudan was born, Scotland tried using the legal political means and Scotland is still part of Britain, no more tension because the issue was properly resolved. So the issue in western province cannot be wished away but should be resolved politically. The police should desist from issuing threats. if anything, the PF owes the people an explanation as to why they have not honored their campaign promise of recognizing the barostle land agreement.

  5. Lozis are so selfish. That’s why I can never vote for a lozi. I can vote for any other tribe in Zambia except for Lozis. This all barotseland is a non starter

  6. what Lozi is? Its like Northern Province you imbecil you can’t say its all Bemba’s.

You must just criticize those UPND cadres not all of us. Didn’t u hear there language that they are against PF? Usanganu nja tuwe.

  7. War is probably the most difficult thing to talk about in the world and only people who’ve been through it know how hard actually is to survive it

  8. THIS GROUP IS OLD IT WAS IN SOUTHERN ANGOLA IT WAS BADLY PUNCHED THEY RAN AWAY,THE OTHER GROUP WANTED CAPRIV STRIP FROM NAMBIA THEY WERE ALSO DONE CROSED INTO ZAMBIA WHERE HH ,MILUPI ARE USING STOLEN MONEY TO CAUSE FEAR IN WESTERN PROVINCE. NOW THAT FORMER DEFENCE MINISTER IS WITH THEM THEY FEEL THEY ARE STRONG.THIS IS WHY BANDA KILLED SOME DO NOT FORCE THINGS U END UP DEED NO WARD OTHERS ARE K_ ITS BETTER TO LOSE FEW THAN MANY

  9. THE PROBLEM OF THE LEADERSHIP OF TODAY, YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN TO BRING THE HISTORY PART OF ZAMBIA TO TEACH THE CHILDREN OF THE DAY. TEACH THEM AT SCHOOL ALL SCHOOLS AS IT USED TO BE IN TIME OF KK. PLEASE TEACH THE POLITICAL HISTORY WHERE WE CAME FROM AND WHY TODAY IS ZAMBIA. WHO CONTRIBUTED TO MAKE ZAMBIA WHAT IT IS TODAY OR ELSE THEY WILL KEEP ON TROUBLING YOU AND YOU WILL CONTINUE DANCING TO THE TUNE OF ALL. I ALWAYS TEACH MY CHILDREN AND I HAVE KEPT ALL SOCIAL STUDIES OF KK’S TIME, THE HISTORY I LEARNT IN FORM 1- 5 AT LUANSHYA BOYS FROM 1980 TO 1984. AND ALL MY CHILDREN KNOW WHAT BAROTSE MEAN AND WHY THEY ARE IN A FIGHT TODAY.
