Kasama district in Northern Province town has been hit by a critical shortage of mealie meal.
A check at most outlets in the central business area including Shoprite, National milling and other shops revealed that they had all run of mealie meal.
Only Kasama Milling depot had fewer stocks of mealie meal going at K75, 000 and K65 breakfast and roller respectively.
And some Kasama residents interviewed complained that they have been going round all retails shops in search of mealie meal without any success.
And the opposition UPND has called on the PF Government to address the mealie meal shortage in Kasama.
UPND Northern Province party mobilization committee member Everist Chela charged that the shortage is uncalled and should be addressed quickly.
Recently, President Edgar Lungu launched the much a solar powered hammer mill under the much heralded presidential initiative with the aim of reducing the price of mealie meal.
Don’t worry Lungu is working 24/7 for the people of Kasama….

And surely just what Happened to the Solar Hammer mills? It just tells you that there capacity is way below what can supply adequately and yet they were hyped as the solution. People condemned Nawakwi when she questioned investment in these Mills
So the solar Hammer mills was a way of plundering the national coffers even when its limping? Oh please PF, if you have failed just give way to others who are capable managing our resources correctly even before August 11. To me its too far for these guys to be chucked out.
I said it yesterday that those Kasama people who braved the nights on the last day of registration to ensure that they register as voters were motivated to do so because they wanted to remove the inept and useless Govt that has caused so much pain in their homes. There is no way or reason a descent person can vote for ECL and PF at the moment.

Why that huge disparity in the price of the two brands: K75,000.00 and K65.00? The Zambian kwacha is really useless mealie-meal from locally grown maize costing K75,000.00. How much does a car cost? Billions?
