Nkana and Power share early lead

Archrivals Nkana and Power Dynamos made bright starts to the new campaign after winning their respective 2016 FAZ Super Division Week 1 fixtures on Saturday.

In Lusaka, Nkana beat Nkwazi 2-1 to share the early lead with their Kitwe foes.

Shadreck Musonda put Nkana ahead at Edwin Emboela Stadium in the 7th minute before Erick Chomba equalised in the 18th minute.

Walter Bwalya snatched the three points for Nkana in the 77th minute.

At Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, Power were not outdone when they too won by the same margin against visitors Napsa Stars.

However, Power fought back after Napsa took a 12th minute lead through Mathews Macha.

Larry Bwalya equalised in the 20th minute to score his second goal in as many games since Power’s 1-0 away victory over Green Buffaloes in Wednesday’s Charity Shield final at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Patson Daka handed Power the victory with the 40th minute winner.

Elsewhere, promoted Lusaka Tigers beat Nchanga Rangers 1-0 thanks to an Emmanuel Kabasa goal in the 59th minute before they were reduced to ten minute in the 65th minute after Mathews Sichone was sent off.

In the lunchtime kickoff at Arthur Davies, Mufulira Blackpool lost 1-0 at home to Lusaka Dynamos courtesy of a Thomas Mbolela 71st minute goal.

Blackpool were marking their first game back in the FAZ Super Division since 1999.
