Shepolopolo hold Namibia to advance in Africa Womens Cup qualifiers

Shepolopolo on Friday evening advanced to the second round of the 2016 African Women Championship after holding Namibia to a 2-2 draw away in Windhoek in the return match of the first round.

Forward Grace Chanda grabbed a brace in the 2-2 stalemate at Sam Nujoma Stadium as the Zambia Women’s team eliminated the Brave Gladiators 5-3 on aggregate.

Albert Kachinga’s side stormed the Sam Nujoma Stadium carrying a 3-1 advantage from the first leg match played on March 6 in Lusaka.

Kachinga started with Hazel Nali in goal with Grace Zulu, Anita Mulenga, Annie Kibanji, Martha Tembo marshalling the back-line.

Rhoda Chileshe, Mary Wilombe, Barbara Banda were deplored in the midfield with Grace Chanda, Noria Sosala and Hellen Mubanga as strikers.

Zambia will now face Zimbabwe or Tanzania in the next round of the qualifying campaign for the tournament to be hosted by Cameroon.

The two teams clash in the return match on Sunday in Harare with Zimbabwe boasting of a 2-1 advantage from the first leg match played in Tanzania a fortnight ago.
