Former Republican President Rupiah Banda’s son Andrew has accused the ruling PF of not practicing democratic tendencies and that they will use the Public Order Act to stop the opposition from properly conducting their campaigns.

Speaking in an interview Mr Banda said the PF deliberately took the POA to Parliament for reforms at the last hour so that they can have an excuse for not amending it.

He said the PF have seen the law to be fit because they are afraid that the opposition will expose their failures and that the only way to stop them from doing is by using the system which they have been using since they got to power.

He said the reason given by the Minister of Home Affairs that there were no submissions did not make sense because people have been making submissions on the unfair implementation of the Act for a long time.

He also said the PF should be mindful that this is an election year and that they should leave laws which will not affect them in an event that they lost power.

Home Affaires Minister on Tuesday said the POA will remain in its current form because government did not receive submissions on how the law should be reformed.

  1. Andrew Banda in UPND, was once arrested by Levi Mwanawasa’s government for violence and grabbing ballot boxes during elections.
While in MMD, William Banda was not nicknamed Tekere for no reason.
Guy Scott while in PF, confessed that he paid thugs to silence William Banda. Scott has vowed to make the country ungovernable.
GBM’s record for violence is not a secret.
HH used his money and tribe to rig UPND elections that made him President against Sikota.
    HH has promised Armmagedon.
All these violent people have now grouped together in UPND.
The UPND IS RIGGING THE ELECTIONS.

    • Hmm. Prove your statement?? As your incompetent president Lungu the violence and vote rigging schemes are evident. Look at how he has no respect for the Zambian people to continue paying ministers for 3 months when the country continues to fall apart?

  2. We can’t allow Zambia to become Zimbabwe oror any of these failed states just because of one person. Please all well meaning Zambians must rise up and ensure Lungu is removed

  3. This what happens when you have selfish leaders…when they were in power they enjoyed POA now outside the complain!!

  4. “IT IS NOT FOR US TO DENY THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE. WE NEVER RIGGED, WE NEVER CHEATED, WE NEVER KNOWINGLY ABUSED STATE FUNDS. WE SIMPLY DID WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS BEST FOR ZAMBIA. I HOPE THE NEXT GOVERNMENT WILL ACT LIKEWISE IN YEARS TO COME.ZAMBIA DESERVES A DECENT DEMOCRATIC PROCESS. INDEED, ZAMBIA MUST BUILD ON HER PAST VICTORIES. OUR INDEPENDENCE WAS HARD WON, OUR DEMOCRACY SECURED WITH BLOOD.ZAMBIA MUST NOT GO BACKWARDS, WE MUST ALL FACE THE FUTURE AND GO FORWARD AS ONE NATION. NOT TO DO SO WOULD DISHONOUR OUR HISTORY”

  5. I agree with what @Jay Jay writes. One piece of law cannot be both good and bad to the Nation. It is our politicians who are selfish, seeing the negative aspects of this law when in opposition, and only to use those negatives to their advantage when in power.

  6. We Have No Minister Of Home Affairs In As Far As We Are Concerned Because Parliament from where they came was dissolved. Davis Mwila is a commoner like me since yesterday period!Which Ministry is he representing[Ministry Of P’ama F’i ?

  7. This law has been in existence since 1955 & it has seen many amendments than any other, Constitution inclusive, if necessary. It affects every citizen, resident, visitor, including religions but not political parties & NGOs alone. This idea of politicians & NGOs self feeling of being more Zambians than others should stop. They have already put us in unnecessary troubles with their senseless Constitution proposals for G12 certificate requirement & tenure of cabinet ministers. Please, give us a break, for you are not our elected representatives. Only your MPs can debate in Parliament & you should have moved a Bill there.

  8. Majority Zambians will go with the opposition. Few people will be attending pf rallies, that is why pf was clobbered in Matero.

    • Mulicipuba tata imwe clobered by who? Din’t you see that PF was in Bauleni having a mamoth rally there! Are you sure that if PF was at its strength you could have managed to ransack their offices in Matero? Thats why we say UPND is a violent party because you are justifying the rubbish that hapened in Matero. Good luck.

  9. Comment:I had hope in hon Davies mwila but now am wondering what has become of him.i now c what power can do to some pipo.
