Justice Chulu said that the provisional voter register has 6 710 455. Justice Chulu said that the exercise will be conducted in 7 700 registration centres countrywide and he has appealed to all registered voters to verify their particulars as they will be no extension to the process.

Justice Chulu however added that the voters can also verify their details via phone through by dialling *214# on all mobile phone networks. Justice Chulu aid that any corrections will require affected voters to go to the centres to correct their particulars with their NRC and Voters Cards.

Earlier, Justice Chulu also verified his details at Roma Centre.

And Mines Minister Christopher Yaluma has urged registered voters to take the inspection of the provisional voters’ register seriously and ensure that their details are correct.

Mr Yaluma said that the exercise provides an opportunity for electorates to confirm that their particulars in the voters’ register are correct and avoid being disenfranchised in the August 11 general elections.

In another development, Mr Yaluma has emphasized the need for young people to embrace sports and avoid engaging in illicit activities that can spoil their potential.

Mr Yaluma said this when he graced a sports tournament at Chilangwa Primary School in Mungwi district.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has said that it is ready to hold the referendum alongside the general election on August 11th. ECZ Secretary and Legal counsel Erick Kamwi said that in view of this the commission will soon start mass sensitization on the Referendum question.

Mr. Kamwi was speaking when he appealed on the ZNBC TV 1 programme: National Watch. Mr. Kamwi said that the commission is confident that the time remaining before the general elections is adequate to carry out sensitization on the contents of the bill of rights.

Mr. Kamwi pointed out that ECZ will have to translate the Bill of rights into major basic local languages for everyone to understand.
