President Edgar Lungu has urged Christians in Zambia not to relent in praying for peace and unity in the country.

And United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Copperbelt region Bishop, Sydney Sichilima says his church was happy that President Lungu’s language was that which promoted peace, love and unity in the country.

President Lungu said Zambians observed that God has been very gracious on Zambia as a country because of Christians’ consistent prayers and petitions sent to Him.

Zambia is food secure even at the time when many neighbouring countries are facing hunger due to poor rainfall in the last season because of petitioning God, he said.

He further noted that the efforts of Christians have resulted into Zambia enjoying peace while other countries have faced wars.

Mr. Lungu said the culture of insults, vulgar language and violence among political parties will come to an end once politicians begin to genuinely fear and worship God.

The President said this when he attended a church service at the Kabundi Kapisha United Church of Zambia (UCZ) congregation in Chingola, today.

And President Lungu has said government will allow all political parties to freely campaign through holding rally around the country, television channels and in Newspapers.

He said as a democratic, he will not hinder any political party from being heard by the Zambian people.

Earlier, United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Copperbelt region Bishop, Sydney Sichilima says his church was happy that President Lungu’s language was that which promoted peace, love and unity in the country.

Bishop Sichilima said the President was humble and his language was that of a leader.

“The love you have shown is a magnet that draws all of us to you and people will follow you the way multitudes followed Jesus Christ,” he said.

He reiterated that politicians will exercise civility in the campaigns once they begin to fully believe in God.

And Reverend Stephen Simumba said in his homily that President Lungu’s good works will redeem him from those who speak ill against him.

Rev. Simumba, who entitled his homily as, ‘Show your works’, said any person who does good works attracts the attention of God.

He has since warned politicians against ascending to power through violence and shedding of blood in a peaceful country such as Zambia.

“I want to implore all political leaders here that do not ascent to power on the blood of Zambians. If you ascend to power through bloodshed, God will hold you accountable,” he said.

The clergyman said everyone’s fate was in God’s hands hence the need to ensure that people do the right things in their lives.

Rev. Simumba further urged politicians to base their campaigns on issues that affect Zambians and how they will improve people’s living standards.

He also prayed for President Lungu to prosper in his leadership.

Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge, Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda, Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili were also present in church.

    • Katondo Boys please tell ka Lungu to call back his dogs or war. No rigging this year —Ba Emmanuel Mwamba. No rigging twapapata uno umwaka at the tallying center. we know how you do it.

    • @the bricklayer

PF is winning please be part of the winning team….no rigging…clean and clear victory

      August 11 vote PF ( Edgar )

      I thank you

    • I think that the explanation by HH to say that he picked GBM because he needed some who could soil himself, someone who is a hard worker is a serious lack of diplomacy as a leader.
It is a direct insult or at least belittling not only to Canicious Banda but also to all the other order members of the UPND.
HH has just told his faithful members that none of them was willing to soil themselves, none of them was as hardworking as GBM.
This is not that good for a leader, especially a leader of a party.
It has taken long for HH to learn politics, and better still to differentiate political governance from corporate governance.

    • In your company or business, you can say anything to anyone; you can talk in any way you wish – including insulting, it will be fine because the business is yours.
In politics if you belittle people, or insult people or undermine their capacities they will abandon you for other options.
How dare you insult the integrity of all the intelligent and hardworking men and women in the UPND.
Look, people last year risked their very lives in Mpika – the Maureens and Nalumangos of this world; going where things were not only rough but tense; Canicious Banda has been with you through thick and thin – and you tell me he is not hardworking?
      Well, well, well!!!

    • Its election time the sofas have been removed because he wants votes…Lazy Lungu doing what he does best dancing and talking nonsense he doesnt believe in!!

    • So which God is Mr. Frank Bwalya talking to…khikikikikiki

  1. Katondo Boys please tell ka Lungu to call back his dogs or war. No rigging this year —Ba Emmanuel Mwamba. No riging twapapata uno umwaka at the tallying center. we know how you do it.

  2. UCZ, UCZ, UCZ please dont be partisan. That is God’s temple NOT for any Jim and Jack. If you are broke pray and God will provide not politicians. This is very embarrasing.

  3. All talk, no action… weakest president, can’t even control his own violent cadres!

  4. So this tea ca ra took umugunlu in the house of God indeed he is a very cursed person and after church he went to insult HH and GBM as if they are the ones who blessed him with umungulu.

  5. These Bishops are supposed to rebuke Lungu instead of thanking him for him words. What Lungu does is opposite of what he says. This is what Lungu does to deceive Christians that he is a Christians

  6. THIS IS THE SAME MAN WHO IS IN THE FOREFRONT TO INCITE AND PROMOTE VIOLENCE. IT IS HYPOCRISY FOR THE SAME MAN TO CALL FOR PEACE WHILE AT THE SAME HE IS INCITING THE POLICE AND HIS CADRES AGAINST THE OPPOSITION.
WHATEVER PRAYERS BEING OFFERED IN HIS FAVOUR WILL NOT WORK AS GOD WILL NOT PAY ATTENTION. IN FACT THEY WILL WORK AGAINST HIM AND HIS PARTY BECAUSE GOD CANNOT BE USED FOR SELFISH REASONS. GOING TO CHURCH IN ORDER TO WIN VOTES IS AN INSULT TO GOD. AVOID TO USE THE WORD OF GOD IN VAIN AND FOR SELISH REASONS. GOD IS OUR CREATOR. HE SHOULD BE RESPECTED AND HONOURED.

  7. Asking the Christian community to continue praying for peace & unity will not yield any tangible results without ECL walking the talk. This man has really made a mockery of God, trying so hard to ride on the Christian ticket. Well he has managed to cheat most Christians because they are so gullible BUT certainly not God. The whole exercise will backfire.

  8. Tell the foreigners that after 11 Aug, win or lose, they should start parking. THEY WILL FACE THE WRATH OF OUR ZED SOVEREIGNTY. Especially Congolese and Malawians!!!

  9. polepole. Wilabonfya church na bible as covers to hide your real self. Remember lesa tabepwa alasebanya pesamba lyabantu. Let us visit the church for good intention.
Dj. Play me a song done by chishala. Title polepole.

  10. The devil among God’s children seeking whom he may bribe.
The devil in sheep’s skin sitting in the front pew. That great deceiver,

  11. These men of God are either satanic or they do not know the real Lungu. Lungu pretends to be humble and Godly and yet he is the one directing PF thugs to carry out acts of violence on defenceless civilians. These Bishops should have told Lungu to restrain his thugs. Lungu is a hypocrite who preaches peace during the day and at he his thugs are committing acts of violence. As it is Lungu is busy scheming how to steal votes on 11th August 2016. These Bishops by praising Lungu are aiding and abetting violence in our land, Zambia.
