UPND running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has attributed the high poverty levels facing the majority to poor ?eadership by President Edgar Lungu and his government.
Mr Mwamba said this when he addressed a huge rally at Changanamai grounds in Kitwe yesterday afternoon,
“Its a pity that President Lungu seems not realise that the loss of jobs by miners has greatly led to high poverty levels such that many children are not going to school because parents cannot pay school fees,”
He said such a situation can only change when people vote for UPND President and his running mate including the councillor, member of parliament and the Mayor or Chairperson.
He said it is clear that President Lungu has no vision and does not care about the Zambian people,
“Here is a President who increased his already huge salary while civil servants continue receiving the same salary which is also delayed.”
Mr Mwamba said the latest revelation about President Lungu’s assets at 23.7 leaves everyone to wonder where all that money came from because it is clear that the PF said Zambia has no money despite the huge euro bond borrowed.
Subsidies were removed by the PF and no one seems to know where the money saved is and to hear that President Lungu has all that cash leaves so much suspicion as to what the source of all the wealth is.
GBM and his entourage yesterday held rallies in Lufwanyama, Mufulira and Kitwe.
He is back in Lusaka to attend a court session today.
National Trustee Bernard Mpundu said President Lungu’s newly acquired wealth must be investigated because the period is too short.
UPND officials have also rubbished the Sonta statement because that is only possible to a Party that has ruled like UNIP MMD and PF.
Frank Tayali accompanying the Vice President said the Party have all to Sonta such as high price of mealie meal, loss of jobs, Delayed salaries for civil servants and delayed payment for farmers among others.
Gabriel Namulambe who was also in the encourage said people in Masaiti and Lufwanyama constituencies have unanimously decided to change Government by voting for UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate come 11th August 2016.
And Former Lands Minister Glads Lundwe says Copperbelt rural is most underdeveloped, mainly due to lack of a quality leadership.
And former Mpongwe PF member of parliament Gabriel Namulambe says rural farmers should show the PF and President Lungu that they can not be fooled.
Speaking at a public rally in Mishikishi area in Masaiti rural on Monday, Lundwe said the lambaland last saw development during the time of former President Levy Mwanawasa.
” When the PF came, what did they promise us? It was heaven on earth, but today, were are we? Copperbelt rural has remained the most underdeveloped because of lies from the politicians, especially the PF. Twakana ku chula naba PF, naba Edgar Lungu. This time kuyabebele, we don’t want jokers as leaders,” Lundwe said.
And Namulambe said people are today suffering because of lack of visionary leadership.
” When we speak, people to hear from us. Its not hatred but we know what we talking about. We have worked with President Lungu, the man just does not have a vision for this country. Don’t even worst time to vote for him again. Let us look for leadership that will care for us the poor. Lambaland has been neglected by the PF. Today, the PF have nothing to point at in lambaland. So we will tell them to sonta at the amount of fertilizer!,” he said

When all is said and done, a Zambian is too backward to distinguish between poverty, suffering and doomsday from success and progress. They are so used to hardship that they have even developed a serious success phobia..They are repelled from it when the see, or smell it.
